Does it record continuous video or only when motion activated?
Hello and thanks for watching and your question. The 7 day and 30 day plans record events only and you can control what events it records. The recordings will be available for either 7 days or 30 days. Also the 7 day plan only includes 1 camera and the 30 day plan will cover several camera's. They do not offer a continuous recording option like the Google Nest plans do.
See I'm technical and I work with networks in my day job but at home, I want simplicity. I want it to be easy to use for absolutely everyone. That's why I'm looking at the Homey Pro as well
Can't agree more lol. I decided to use the Homey Bridge with the Homey cloud to test it before I spent the $400 on the Homey Pro device, but if I really like it I'll definitely be buying one and then the bridge will just add some good expansion. I would love to hear your thoughts on it once you get it up and running if you are so inclined. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Pebblebee wallet tracker is the only android compatible device with this form factor. At least as far as I could find. Just bought one and hope that you will be proven somewhat wrong ;-) But I agree: The Samsung Tags 2 are really working flawlessly. Nice product! Just don't fit nicely into wallets...
Hello and thanks for watching and your comment. I completely agree with you lol. I believe Tile has a wallet type tracker but I have not tested it. I try to keep as thin of a wallet as I can so I don't use one of those. Hope it works out well for you! Thanks again!
Got it on sale for 300 USD 2 pack
Wow that's an awesome deal! I'm sure you'll really enjoy them!
Are you going to make an update to this video as now Google finally has enabled UWB on phones?
Hi there and thank you for your question. The UWB capability has been a part of Android devices for awhile, the issue is that Google has not implemented that into their FMD tracking network. As of 2-3 weeks ago when I last looked into it they still had not implemented it. I did review Motorola's and Google's support pages and it doesn't appear it in use as of yet, unless I am not seeing the correct information. Once I know it is indeed working I will definitely be doing an update.
That way no one can access it...except Google...and all US government agencies...
Even more reason to ensure you have every security measure enabled that you can control.

You know, we shouldn't be having to buy this extra $39.99 fix to Poor Battery Life PERIOD!
Hi there and thanks for watching and commenting. I totally agree with you, they really should include a wired option when you buy it. That said I am glad they came out with this so that those who are having issues can at least have an alternative, but you are correct in that this shouldn't have been an after thought.

That's not true, Google home can be used on ios.
You are absolutely correct and I can see how I should have clarified what I was intending to mean. My intention was basically to say that you need a Gmail account to use the Google Home/Assistant and the Google Home devices and that if you are a Android user you will already have an account you can use. I'll make sure that when I do my final part 5 video that I make a clarification. Thank you!
I am having trouble figuring out how the SmartTag 2 can be used as a rudimentary GPS system. I understand that other Samsung phones act as beacons but I have put the tag on my daughter's backpack and when she leaves on the bus in the morning the location still shows the tag at home. Some of her friends have Samsung phones so I don't know why they are not at least showing that the tag is/was near that phone's location throughout the day. I'm wondering if I have the setting correct or if I need to do something else to make this thing work. Ideas?
Hello and thank you for your comment. It's definitely odd that none of the other Samsung phones ping it's location. Since the tracker itself has no way of reaching out to the internet it would still need to ping off of other devices via Bluetooth or UWB. You might want to try resetting it and re adding it back to your phone. Sorry cannot be of more help without having access to all of the devices.
I bought 2. They SUCK. They do NOT show up like when I track my phone with Smart Tracker. Wasted money!!
Did you go with a storage plan? I like the idea of having access to the history of what’s been captured on the camera.
Hello, and thanks for your question. Yes I did because I, like you, wanted to have access to the camera history. I have the 30 day plan that covers all of my cameras and have all of the added functionality. It actually came in handy because I had to give the police some video footage of my car and driveway when it was broken into.
@ So the 30 days plan keeps footage for 30 days before being automatically deleted? I’m thinking of just going with the 7 days as it’s significantly cheaper and I only have the one keypad camera. What are your thoughts? I think it’ll end up being like $32 yearly.
@@Mister_Y yeah, the only difference between the 30-day and 7-day plans is the length of time you have access to recorded data. The 7-day plan only supports one device. If all you have is one device and 7 days are all you need, then the 7-day plan is perfect. I have several cameras from which I wanted to view footage if needed, so the 30-day plan made the most sense to me. I just pay annually.
Hi! I need to learn all these things for my home :) Great video, my friend! Your videos look and sound great, and the value delivered is exceptional. Thank you!
Wow, thank you for the kind words, that means a lot coming from an awesome content creator as yourself. I watched your 2025 Studio Setup video the other day and it was awesome, very helpful with some excellent ideas. I watched a couple other video as well and subscribed because I really liked your content. Thanks again for watching and the amazing comment!
@@GadgetGuysSmartHome Thank you for visiting my channel :) You deserve the comment!
I did not know this existed, I also own the cam keypad. Mine did however come with the thumbscrew, which I guess is a double edged sword because as you said, someone can just turn it and steal it, but its actually hard to turn, the groves are so close together, I can't ever grip it enough with my fingers and need pliers anyways. I wish there was a better way to hide the cable instead of having it run up the wall, but it does not seem like that is an option since most of these are installed on the side of the garage wall, instead of like a front wall where you could go through. Thanks for the video! had just I needed
Hi there and thanks for watching and commenting! Glad you found it helpful. I think newer devices came with the thumbscrew, they probably did that because people were losing the tiny Philips head that it originally came with. I agree with you about the wire but as with any electrical piece of equipment it's just one of those things that can't be avoided other than drilling a hole through whatever you are mounting to. Thanks again and I hope it works well for you!
Part 3 The Ultimate Smart Home Ecosystem Guide: A Beginner's Guide to Choosing the Right One! 📙FREE PDF - Designing Your Smart Home: A Beginner's Guide - kit.cloud9teck.com/designing_your_smart_home Learn how to choose the right smart home ecosystem for your needs! From my experience individual bulbs are great, but they also jam up your 2.4ghz channel if they're too many fighting for network if your setup doesn't have QoS enabled
Hi there and thanks for your comment. I 100% agree. One of the mistakes I made in the beginning but the cost of switching them all back to regular LED bulbs and then adding the switch has kept me from doing it lol. Fortunately I've got everything working pretty well now.
How do these charge ?
Hello and thanks for your question. The battery is replaceable, according to their information the Chipolo One Point battery will last up to 1 year. You can then replace the CR2032 battery.
@@GadgetGuysSmartHome and this has GPS tracking that displays on your phone or it just beeps ?
The device itself does not have a GPS radio but it does give you the ability to track it on Google Maps because it pings off of other devices which allows you to actually track it on your phone. Hope that answers your question.
So could I virtually run the wire through the back of it? And also how sturdy does it feel? It seems it’d be really easy to steal with this vs the old one
Hi there and thanks for your question. Yes the wire comes directly through the back of the mounting bracket and if wanted to drill a hole in whatever you were mounting it to you wouldn't see any wires at all on the outside. As far as being sturdy, the mounting bracket is very sturdy and this doesn't make it any easier to steal than the previous one. If anything it makes it harder to steal because it's now hardwired so even though the bottom just has a thumb screw if they remove the camera they have to also unscrew the wires or cut the wires but then the camera is useless because there's no power. The previous one you just had to unscrew the little Phillips screw and since it had a battery it still had power. I actually like this melting bracket a lot more than the previous because this one gives you the ability of turning the camera in or out to get a wider angle on the camera.
Great video ! Thank you .
Hi there and thank you so much for watching and your kind words. I'm glad you found it helpful!
@ currently watching the myQ outdoor camera video . Thanks again . Can you use the video keypad without a subscription ?
I just got a Pebblebee wallet tracker and keyring tracker. It's better than not having anything to track with. For what I use them for it works fine for me. If only Samsung would open their trackers up to the Find My Device network.
Hi there and thank you for commenting. I 100% agree with you regarding Samsung and I'm glad you at least found something that works for you.
Where Pebblebee Tracker you have tested? Nr.1 or the new device Nr.2 ?
Hi there and thanks for your question. The one I'm using is the Google FMD network specific device straight from the Google Store, here's the link - store.google.com/product/pebblebee_clip_tracker and it's not an affiliate link. Thanks!
@GadgetGuysSmartHome Hello back. Tanks for your Feedback. Ich think thats the old Pebblebee because work only mit Android. The New Pebblebee will work with Android AND Apple. Is much better I have twice.
Evening and you're very welcome. It's possible that they have changed some things but at the time of that recording there were 2 different versions. One that worked with Android and Apple using the Pebblebee app and another from Google that worked directly with the Google Find My Device network. I'm going to investigate this because if they have indeed consolidated them then that would be great. Thanks again for your comment and for watching, I appreciate it!
MyQ, make it compatible with the genie garage door.
It would be nice to have broader compatibility.

Huh, just cut the exposed wire and tug.
😂😂😂😂😂it’s January it didn’t change much just a streamer nothing special
Thanks for watching and your comment. I can tell you from my experience with the previous Google streamers and the Nvidia Shield Pro, this device beats them all! It's faster and doesn't suffer from the lag the previous versions did and it now has a built in 1 gig Ethernet port so you can wire it. It's definitely a worthy upgrade.
@ I jump back and forth between that and the Apple TV 4K
Yeah I have heard the Apple TV device is pretty nice. I do not have any Apple products in my house. I like their hardware, it's solid and high quality but i just don't like their software environment. Choice is good lol.
Ive fount the moto tag very helpful. No complaints, so far so good for me.
Yeah it's probably the best Android tracker that's not a Samsung out there. Now that they have updated the firmware to activate the camera button feature it's pretty useful! Thank you for your comment!
It stops working at low temps
Hi there and thanks for your comment. Ironically just last week we had a cold snap and it went offline once but came back up after a short time. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come. Thanks again!
Just replaced the battery in 2 tags (Very low battery notification) and got the firmware update notification...with Battery optimisation, which I knew nothing about. I said I'd leave a 3 tag (Not currently in use) to see how much longer it would last on Very Low battery for future reference, but after the firmware update its went back to battery normal 😕...I guess ill keep the 2 batteries I removed as they are probably just fine
Wow, I'll need to check mine again for the update. Sure be awesome if they fixed it and if it was just a notification issue and the battery wasn't actually dead then I wasted several batteries lol. Thanks for the update!
Dude didn't want to spend the five minutes necessary to figure out how the device he's reviewing works. It is for this man that Apple and Samsung exist. Ejoy the prison of your own making, good sir.
Haha, wow the hate on this video is crazy. Yes I did make a mistake in not going into the correct setting to enable the reverse find your phone feature, I did correct it in the video however and made sure everyone knew it wasn't a Moto issue. I did briefly review the information but I try to some of these unboxings and setup's just as any user would be doing it so there are mistakes made, downside of being human I guess, and I could have redone the video but I never intentionally try to mislead anyone or omit things so I leave the mistakes in. I don't use any Apple products, their hardware is great but I do not like their software and the Samsung SmartTag2 is on par with the Air Tag as far as quality and function and it's the best Android tracker for a Samsung device by a long shot. If you watched any of my later videos where I discuss the Moto Tag after a trip I took you would have seen I stated that it is the best Android tracker that's not a Samsung device available. At the time of this recording they did not have the camera button capability active, they just recently pushed a firmware update that enabled it, so it was missing a feature that was supposed to be there. I actively use the Moto Tag and my SmartTag2 trackers so what you call a prison I call a choice. Competition is good and it exists to give options, different strokes for different folks lol. Thanks for watching and your comment however, it is appreciated!
Pissed me off with the clickbait title, 5/10 video
I do apologize if you felt like it was clickbait; again, it was not my intention. I intended that to be more relative to some of the features, such as the UWB capability not being available. I do appreciate your detailed critique and comments and for watching. I take all of my comments as an opportunity to improve, which I constantly strive to do. I honestly feel and have mentioned in other videos how I do believe the Moto Tag is going to be one of the best Android trackers for non-Samsung devices. In my opinion, if you have a Samsung device, the SmartTag2 is the best. Thanks again!
20:03 no GPS, they use other devices to connect
Yes I am aware that there is no dedicated GPS module and they use other devices to locate the device, I was more referencing the ability that it's viewable on a map, which is why I said Bluetooth GPS Trackers. There are a lot of people who refer to these types of devices as GPS trackers because of the mapping ability but I do understand how my use of GPS could be a little misleading but that was not my intent. I should have offered a little more clarification or just stated Bluetooth tracker.
9:13 no augmented reality, this isn’t Samsung
Yes I realized tis is not a Samsung device so comparing to their augmented reality type features might not have been totally accurate but the UWB should allow for better detailed location tracking once you are within range. Not sure about now as I have not researched it more but as of the time of this video the UWB network capability had not been enabled by Google.
8:25 you have to click on the feature that says locate your phone..
Yes, I realized that and if you watched at the 10:08 time stamp I corrected my error.
Controlling receiver such as Sony 1000? Thank you.
Hi there and thanks for watching and your question. Yes by my understanding from their documentation they have full support for Sony devices. It can also learn from the original IR remote so you shouldn't have any issues according to their information.
You talk too much just do what people want to see
Thank you for watching and your comment. I do tend to ramble on at times and I am working on sticking to the point. Thanks again for watching!
Seems like the battery issue may have been fixed
That would be fantastic. I'll have to investigate and see if mine is working better. Thanks!
Did they fix the issue yet? I dont wat to download the update until it is.
Hello, unfortunately they have not. I even reset mine and put in a new battery and it was dead after a few day's and there doesn't seem to be any new firmware update available. Very disappointed because I really believe the Moto Tag is probably the best Android tracker aside from the SmartTag2.
Anything new here? I'm about to buy one and consider it worth the trouble... Thanks!
@@sirtonim1000 Hi there and thanks for your question. After swapping the battery and resetting it again it does appear the battery drain issue has been resolved. Definitely worth it in my opinion for a great Android tracker that is not a Samsung.
@@GadgetGuysSmartHome so it's finally ok to update?
@@plmpcharisma9686 by what I can tell, there are no updates pending as of today.
I just picked up mine yesterday and, like you, I’m extremely impressed with the picture quality. I had to make quite a few changes to get the picture where I was happy with it, but I think I got everything adjusted properly. Thanks for confirming my choice!
Hi there, and thanks for your comment. I'm glad you're happy with your new TV, it's definitely been a fantastic device! Thanks again!

just be aware that the G923 is known for a very loud gear driven motor along with being very weak in the break pedal. Eventually look into brands like MOZA or fanatec. The price is definitely significantly higher but the experienced is unmatched. Any direct drive wheel with a decent amount of newton meters of force, preferably above the 2.2 Nm that the G923 offers. Another option is the Logitech pro if you like the software but that is very very pricey.
Hi there, and thanks for your comment! I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the G923 and other options. I will definitely keep that in mind for the future.
good video. just an brief introduction about this product. thank you.
Thanks, I appreciate you watching!
It works with an android phone?
Hello and thanks for your question. The SmartTag2 only works with Samsung Android Galaxy phones. If you have a regular Android, like a Google Pixel then you'd probably want to go with the Moto Tag or Pebblebe.
@GadgetGuysSmartHome thanks a lot mm I have seen that the motor tag drains out the battery really fast, you know if they have fixed that problem?
@locosmuevenmundo that started after the last firmware update and I have not seen a new release yet. My battery drains really fast but I have seen others who don't have that issue. Aside from that I think the Moto Tag is the better option but they definitely need to get that fixed. No idea if it affects any of the new devices. The second best option is the Pebblebe.
Hi Does the camera function better when its powered via wire vs battery like response time when opening...? Apologies if i missed that in your review!
Hi there and thanks for watching and your question. You did not miss it, I have not noticed any difference in actual performance. It responds the same wired as it did on battery, which it never performed poorly before so I was not expecting any sort of improvement. It has been nice not having to worry about the battery however. It's also been pretty cold here over the past week, most days not getting above freezing and it hasn't had any issues. Thanks again!
What wheel?
Hi there, sorry here is the link to the long form video th-cam.com/video/dGKfX4cm99A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=JC2iRXUXxu61v9EC
Can it be used to track my bike if it gets stolen? 🙏 Thanks
Hi there and thanks for watching and your question. Yes you can use it for that but you'll need some type of holder or a place to put it since it doesn't have a built in loop or ring. But they make a lot of inexpensive devices on Amazon. I have some links in my video description if you are interested. You might need to go to the full video to see all of them but they are also linked in the short description. The short links back to the original long form video. Thanks again!
I’m honestly thinking of upgrading to a Samsung OLED tv just to take advantage of this.
Hi there and thanks for your question! Well I can tell you that I've considered replacing my 2020 QLED Samsung that's in my living room because it is too old to support the app. However I don't watch that TV a lot so it's hard to justify the cost just for that considering I have the sync box on that TV. I think that the app works fantastic and in my opinion after all my use it's better than the sync box. The original sync box doesn't support the high bandwidth so you cant use it with say 4k 120 because it'll downscale the image, and you don't have to deal with random reboots that stop the lights from syncing. The app doesn't care what the video resolution is since it's pulling it directly off the TV feed so it works with all video content. My PS5 gaming is on another whole level now lol. You do still need a Philips Hue Hub but not the Sync Box. If you have the means I'd say do it, you'll love it!
It also works on LG TVs now that they added support through that app store. I have not tested this myself but is how I got to this video
@@zebraflappins8774 oh wow that would be awesome if support was extended to other manufacturer TV's. Thanks for your comment!
Try to connect one of the TV's to a smart plug and have that control the off and on function....just a thought :)
Hi there and thanks for your comment. That's an excellent idea, all of that equipment is connected to battery backup devices so I didn't even think about that. I am going to investigate that since I have a couple unused smart plugs. Thanks again for the great idea!
