    How did you wire your fuel pump? Was the fuel pump relay wired with 12v to pin 30, fuel pump positive to pin 87, ground to pin 85 and pin 86 of the relay to the brown wire (pin 37 on the black/natural C3 connector) to the ECU? Thank you.

    • @MongrelsGarage
      @MongrelsGarage 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Remember most the control functions are ground switching so the computer provides the ground to latch the relay. I think the transmission relay is different but that is a another topic. So pin 30 and 86 have power. Pin 87 goes to the pump and pin 85 goes to the computer, so yes the brown wire on the C3 connector.

    Great Video 👍 Question, I have a 2011 Nissan Frontier V6 4.0l with 162,000 miles. Well maintained but things have slowly been wear n tearing out. Not sure how long a Fuel Pump can last but i'm considering having replaced due to mileage and being pro-active? What do you think?

    • @MongrelsGarage
      @MongrelsGarage 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I would not replace it, often the manufacturers parts are better than most aftermarket these days. Electric fuel tend to last a very long time provided the vehicle doesn't sit to often for long periods or isn't run out of gas

      @@supercraig2009 1 Time should not shorten the lifespan significantly, just remember the fuel is what keeps the pump cooled, the less fuel you run with the hotter the pump runs and heat is what takes most of these out...or corrosion from sitting too long which should not be a problem in your case

      I think this is a question about the other video and the park safety switch. Short answer is no it will not work as these focus on the truck PCM, the big difference is that the cars use a separate controller for the transmission. I have not play around with the car PCM/TCM much so I have limited knowledge on them. Sublime Technologies (AKA DIYHemi) would be a good source. Does your PCM even have the green connector on it or is it blank?

      The truck PCM takes some tuning to allow for electric fan control…well 2004 and prior do. 2005 and up had electric fans. Great video, very helpful. ONE SUGGESTION. Not mentioned in video for lame nit witted backyard mechanic like myself. Don't overlook taking the clip of your original pump with the yellow cap on that tube. It's a must-have. I overlook it, and that gas line kept popping off. After stopping the video when he explained how to remove it, I noticed that clip still on the old pump and figured it out. Removed it and installed it on your new pump. Line snapped in place. Thank God job was a little bit of a hassle. Appreciate the video!!! Plus, I broke two bolts on the straps, drilled all way through both , tapped to 5/16s -18, and got lucky on that. Didn't break a drill bit or tap,Thank you again!

Do you think it's possible to use used pistons, or will I be just be wasting my time? I had to take the entire interior out to dry out and have gone through the electrical and I believe I can save the truck.

    • @MongrelsGarage
      @MongrelsGarage หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ll be honest this is a bit high risk, that being said I have done it myself. In more desperate times. My record is about 50% success using used pistons and not going thru the rest of the engine properly. To minimize your risk check all your clearances are correct (ring gap, bearings, etc) give it a bit of a hone and check bearings are still good, but short answer is I wouldn’t recommend it.

    I replaced the fuel pump and I can’t get the truck to start. I’m tried to prime the pump but still no luck. Any recommendations?

      @MongrelsGarage 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hard to say, you would have to do some troubleshooting to narrow it down. Start with simple stuff like checking the fuses and relays. From there determine if you have spark and fuel pressure

    Have you worked on the newer 2015 PMC? I bought a 345 wire kit from Mopar and am sideways on my project. Not able to overcome my fuel issue. Have pressure and power to injector, no fuel injector trigger pulses.

    Awesome videos, I am doing a hemi swap on my 06 Jeep commander 3.7 4x2. the donor Jeep will be a 07 Jeep GC 5.7 4x4. The plan is to swap the entire drivetrain. I will have all the ECU, TCM and what else I can take from the GC. Will I need to reprogram the ECU and TCM with the vin off the Commander? Thanks and keeping making those great videos.

    • @MongrelsGarage

      Honestly it’s gets a little more complicated with the newer stuff and having to talk with the other modules. Do you have to…no, there are ways to do it without having to. If you want it to talk to the BCM and other modules then yes you will need to match the vin.

    • @MongrelsGarage
      @MongrelsGarage 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @user-rs3iq3gg7m Well to be honest you’re starting to get a little out of my wheel house. I have not had to deal with making one compatible with a newer vehicle and having the SKIM recognize the new PCM. HP Tuners is capable of doing a lot of work and resetting the SKIM, but if you install the PCM in a SKIM vehicle, that vehicle will enable the SKIM again. Don’t have to worry about that in classic vehicle swaps because they don’t have the other modules. This is where something like the Autel 808 or similar bidirectional scanner might be useful as it has the ability to program the different modules, however you may need to get the vehicle PIN from a local dealer.

    For anyone swapping their cam: The camshaft bearings are nonserviceable, so be very careful removing the cam. If you damage the bearings, you have to replace the whole block. You could remove the engine and take it to a machine shop, but Mopar doesn't sell replacement bearings.

    • @MongrelsGarage
      @MongrelsGarage 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      While you are correct about Mopar saying the cam bearings are non-serviceable, you are incorrect about having to replace the block as there are bearings available and they can be replaced. That being said each situation is unique.

    • @facepalmdaily4404
      @facepalmdaily4404 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MongrelsGarage You're right. I meant to include "According to Mopar, you have to replace the block". That's what the service manuals, dealerships and Mopar itself states. You're right, though, a good machine shop, and finding the right aftermarket bearings, can get it done. It's definitely not something a shade tree mechanic could do themselves. However, most people replacing their camshafts aren't pulling the engine. So it's worth mentioning the mammoth amount of extra work involved should one of those bearings get damaged in the process.
