      I don't know what you mean by invis sword, it's one of the oldest strats in the game. I do get a lot of shit for my layout but it works for me. You'd love to hear that I also run shift as crouch and ctrl as sprint.

      Close range weapon, usually not a gun but something like a sword or spear.

    Melee can indeed be really fun - I LOVED sword up until the recent nerf (though it's still great), and lately I've been using the dagger more than anything else lately. I've never really been able to make meleee work on Mediums, but heavy sledgehammer is a good time for sure. Spear on Powershift can be ridiculously useful!

    Since the Medium has good support gadgets, they could add a new specialization for this class, some sort of a Stim pistol that when shooting allies it gives them a movement speed buff, as an alt-fire it can be used on yourself for the same benefits; this could work as a nice gap closer on Medium melee builds. The Stim pistol could have 3/4 charges, something similar to the Dematerializer.

    Really enjoy your content, but I have one problem with your video. It doesn’t address mediums melee problem enough. I‘m a riot shield main and it‘s a pain in the ass

      yeah I guess so. I think the best way help out the medium melee would a specialization that helps close the gap with the enemy. I've been playing riot shield a lot more this season after the damage buff, but yeah, I agree with you that medium is probably the weakest of the three classes when it comes to melee.

    nice i never played heavy class becouse of the movement speed .but i do like if there is heavy in my team i get mental support .unfortunately not many play it and those who play it are kinda good it .unlike light or medium who dont know what are they doing

    Came to this after watching your video about heavy. I don’t know that the light has taken mediums identity, but I again think there was an identity gap between lower brackets of play, and more organized higher levels of play. Without recon senses, light was always seen as the intel class in stacked teams - reason being is that invis (up until recently the only spec used at high levels) from enough distance allows you to scout on high ground and flank safely, allowing your team to play cover or cashout. So it makes sense the light gets the scouting gadgets - as it allows other specializations like dash to breathe. You can’t check a room / angle as safely with dash or frappe as you can with invis. Mediums “main” Identity is the enabler. Always has been, and to me seems like it always will be at a top level. The problem is that each class can be split into subclasses that change the identity, so it is usually more worth it to not ask what is the role of the medium, but what situations can the medium cover with their tools? In this case, if you have a heal and a charge and slam, playing turret does not help your team. However, playing heal enables your heavy to be more aggressive and enables you and your other medium to heal swap for long range fights, heal to cross dangerous areas , or juice eachother in close range brawls. However, another role your medium can fill is being a pseudo light with Demat. This always your heavy to save their explosives for entry damage and you can enable them to take off angles, while using burst damage weapons by opening a wall, shooting, and closing a wall can fit the same niche as a light shooting, using invis/movement and getting away. Light feels very impactful and cheesy in modes like quick cash or bank it despite being the worst in ranked (since S1 at least ). However, that is primarily due to the amount of lights present in those modes - meaning you’re not running up against your counters as much / if at all. I think embark could greatly reduce casual frustration by reworking the class to be more competitively viable and less reliant on strategies that frustrate lower skilled opponents. Invis and stun doesn’t bother anyone at the top level of the game, because it’s not a good strategy for the light to get kills, it’s actually suicidal to stun and try to kill your stun most of the time. However, in the low ranks- it can feel as though you’re not allowed to play the game because a light has a hard on for stunning you.

    I don’t think the Heavy needs any buffs outside of helping the mesh shield specialization. Heavy is in a weird spot, because the play base believes Heavy to be a tank - but they’re really not played that way at all high level often (outside of walking forward with mesh shield like Reinhardt). The best heavy loadout since the start of the game has been SA-12, RPG, Dome, and C4. With whatever non-goo gun specialization is the best for your comp. Why is this? and why don’t you see low skill players running this build? The average player has basically 0 clue how to play the class as its true role: an entry fragger / brawler with the best Cashout stall potential in the game. After you dunk your money, c4 the ground, shotgun punch the money onto your c4 and play offsite and around your medium. Fly at the other team, or bait them in and use SA12 + Rocket to secure a free kill, use the dome to “pokeball” your teammate, or give yourself a double wall (you stand outside the dome so that the enemy has to walk all the way though it or around it, and strafe inbetween the dome to protect yourself). If they try to steal while your attention is occupied, your c4 will drop the cash and hurt the stealer - and they can’t do anything about it. Heavy was my least played class, but it was my fastest class to 150 wins despite not tanking often in other games. I’ve played with a few of the best heavies in the game, and the playstyle difference is probably the sole reason that people believe the class is bad - aside from any skill related issues a player might have. It’s the same conversation for medium, as Turret users are literally kneecapping themselves and their team by picking the single worst specialization in the game. None of the top players run turret for a reason, and it’s the same reason as none of the top heavies running anything but SA12 ( and occasionally Lewis / Deags) For a frame of reference, I’ve been diamond in every Cashout ranked season - and Emerald 1 in both world tours , and was top 500 last season for “The Finals” playlist with 100 tournament wins.

    I main all three builds, maybe light a bit more since I love the LH1. Heavy is an amazing build choice and I love playing it, sledgehammer and other weapons in casual and the Lewis in the few WT and Ranked games I played. It needs more weapons and gadgets variety, but there's something that stuck bad with me: they nerfed everything but charge & slam, which is probably the most broken spec rn, and what actually needed any kind of change. Either the 130 initial damage needs to go, or make it so that you can't charge an opponent twice or more, and then increase the charge length/time to counterbalance. I also may say that I'm glad that the Lewis recoil no longer goes through an earthquake.

    GO HEAVY! The gravity cube is underrated! Good go slowing down people on gamemodes and you can use movement tech with it! The grenade launcher is great too for trickshots and taking out groups of gadgets!

    I think the heavy sledghammer with RPG and Winch claw is fun.... The simple destructive ability of that weapon and gadget are amazing and Winch claw can lead to some funny moments and amazing plays.

    The reason lights lose and heavies win is simple. Lights sweat for kills and don't help play the objective. They get 20 kills a game, but lose most of the time. Heavies tend to play more supportively and contribute to the objective. Heavies will get 5 kills a game, but they'll win.

      I think that ties in to what I said about more casual and average players playing light. I don't think lights getting 20 kills means that they are sweating, it just means that they turned their brain off and let m11 go brrr. Try putting that light in a ranked tournament and see what happens.

    As a heavy main I find that it is the best class to use if you like playing as a team. I am able to engage in fights and bring confusion to the enemy team and then hide to regain health while the rest of my team finishes them off. I find heavy to be amazing at disorienting the opposing team and supporting your own team by taking damage and getting all the attention focused on you.

    I main light because I queue solo and 80% of the time my teammates are incompetent. I got tired of chasing down my teammates to heal them and/or shield them as a heavy.

    I’m a heavy main from closed beta 1. When they added the Lewis gun I always ran that so when they nerfed it it killed my interest in heavy sadly but I’m so glad it’s usable again cause it’s probably my favorite gun in the game. Best heavy gadget has to be the c4 cause it’s so versatile, and the amount of games I’ve saved by stalling cash out steals with it is to many to count

    Lights are favored by the devs, like the lights get all of the cool things and are way better in casual game modes. They have more weapons and most of their gadgets are unique and fun while other classes gadgets are kind of boring. I also feel like they don’t nerf some of the things in light as much as they should.

      Lights also have the smallest hit box, fastest movement, highest DPS weapons, and honestly some pretty OP gadgets/abilities (stun gun, sonar, cloak, dash).

      Idk what exactly you mean by mobility, jump pads and zip lines maybe? Light definitely has more mobility tech and it is inherently quicker. The medium does have more HP and can out frag a light in a legit 1v1.

      Yea I agree, those first few days of the season was really bad. I think it was 12 seconds, might be wrong about that though. They did shorten the cooldown a little bit, but I definitely think it should be even shorter.

    I honestly feel the devs are just being disingenuous. They can't be that naive, can they? Of course Heavy is gonna have a higher win rate, the only thing you can do as heavy is to play objective. You're too slow and too weak to go around chasing kills "for fun", your entire toolkit is designed to hunker down and punish anyone walking into an area (the cash box). Whereas as light you just turn your brain off and run around waiting for an opportunity while dodging bullets and before you realize the match is over. It's honestly hilarious how they added those little vent holes around the map for lights and mediums to run away from heavies, and now you literally have lights just facing you 1v1 because they know heavy dps is so low chances are they're gonna win if they're carrying the right weapon (Sword, V9S, M11...)

    Tbh if you are going to use wench you might aswell use grav nade too, it’s a recipe for success, blow whole in ground - use grav nade to lift cash out then pull it out with your wench Edit: been using this Strat since gold 1 (I’m emerald 1 now & it’s still fun😂)

    Light needs a nerf across the board "DPS class" or not they should not be able to melt a heavy in .01 seconds before they can even turn around. They also have way too much ammo in every gun. In WHAT WORLD does an SMG do more damage than A F*CKING RIFLE THAT SHOOTS 7.62 OR 5.56?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?! There is no logic behind the weapons just "light class go burrr" A full on LMG does less damage than a pistol??!? LOOOL what a joke. They need to make the classes make sense and make the damage make sense too. Don't even get me started on crap like dagger and sword that connect from 10 feet away even though the guy completely missed.

      Light's got good DPS because of their low HP. If you having trouble with lights in particular, I'd recommend using the sledgehammer with winch claw or the model 1887.

      Pretty balanced I main both classes and tbh light is in its weakest state rn it only performs decent in an HML set up. Heavy can easily get a light kill. Skill issue sorry

      @@Jedi_Jedmonds They are also way smaller and have the highest maneuverability which should make up for their small health pool. The way their dmg is now is way too high. A light should NOT be confident enough to be pushing a whole team knowing they can wipe them or take out 2 of them easy. They should be scared to die because people can actually react.

    I recently switched from a medium main to heavy main (at least in World Tour) because the vast majority of the teammates I get are mediums and lights that die too quickly; heavy is oddly good at support because, even if you don't actually deal damage, you drain the mags of a full team before dying and your teammates can go in from behind during the chaos and get a full wipe. The best teams, in my experience, are balanced: heavy to Leroy Jenkins the team into an advantage, medium to support and revive either teammate without getting into too many situations where they're the main target, and light to shred through everybody as fast as possible. When stealing/defending cashouts, heavy is absolute peak with fortifications (pyro mine, dome shield, barricades, etc.), with medium as second best with a few mines and lights only really able to break it down a floor without getting into the action (aside from grenades). In short, get mixed teams; it doesn't matter if you suck at heavy DPS-wise, as long as you know how to rush/defend an objective.

      Definitely agree with this! Three of the same class kinda sucks because you miss out on the benefits of the other two classes. Not saying you can't make it work, but to your point, heavies, lights, and mediums all bring something to the table and should not be overlooked.

    The way they worded it means that since there are more light players, then that obviously means more light players lose. But since the minority play heavy, those heavy players play with their team and stack and of course win. This can mean that lights may have the same amount of wins as heavy but the ratio is just not the same between the light players and the the few heavy players.

    I like your idea of why heavy is winning more, however heavy is winning more across ALL ELOS, the reason people play heavy in high elo is dueling potential with m60/lewis gun in close range, 15-25m, its unbeatable and just part of the game, if heavy lands all headshots with lewis gun or m60 vs any other class with any other gun they will always win. hope this helps you understand the balance a little better

      I see what you're saying, but I think you might have misinterpreted my argument. I didn't argue that the heavy was only good in high ELO, I said that the people who play know what they're doing because only so many people are drawn to tank, and that's why they win more. Most casuals are drawn to light and that's why light's lose more. To your argument though, most good lights will find ways to stack a gunfight in their favor. They will sneak up with invis, dash around the enemy, and stun them, all to make it difficult to land all the headshots on the M60 and Lewis gun. However, a lot of lights don't know what they're doing and so they get dunked on pretty easily.

    I'm a heavy main and I have been one since season 1. The only gripe I have about it is it's better in a coordinated tank. When I'm pugging I would rather have three mediums than having a heavy because people aren't going to heal me. Me and my job is to be up front. Are the biggest and usually the target that people go for. Which could be frustrating. Then there's other times. Being a heavy with so much health I go 20-2 with a sledgehammer and I win the game solo. I feel like it's a little bit more niche in pugs Edit: also don't think a lot of people know how to build or play heavy compared to the other two.

      I agree with a lot of what you're saying. I've been playing heavy a lot more recently in preparation for this video, and having a healer teammate is a lifesaver, especially if I'm playing sledgehammer. To your edit, I think that heavy can a bit more of an acquired taste as compared to the light or medium which is part of the reason it isn't played as much.

      hmmm... when I solo queue ranked, I carry with heavy more than any other class. Light and medium are definitely a lot more fun though. If I'm running demat with medium for example, it's hard to communicate with my teammates why I'm dematting. It's way to common for me to want to "fish" with the demat but instead, my teammates drop into three people well positioned with no line of sight on their positions and die... with heavy I can get a ton of kills because of how well I play my dome and goo. for me, goo is a must have as well since mesh was nerfed. Mesh is still good but it suffers from the same thing demat does when playing with randoms, no comms to get the team to play the mesh shield. But yeah, for me my stats line up with Embark stats on win percentage.

      The mesh shield nerf was pretty rough, they did lower the cooldown a little bit from the start of season four, but the cooldown mechanic is still there which sucks.

    I kinda get the feeling low winrates also arnt necessarilly indictive of something being weak/strong, i.e look at fun characters winrate in league/dota and theyre high skill ceeling medium skill floor so are more punishing ergo more losses on average whereas just having more hp lower playrate probably has more people trying to win rounds than people trying to be the next invoker/katarina onetrick. If they want to make it have a higher play rate you need to add fun weapons/abilities

    warning this comment is way too long lol: I Think whole light "issue" really only a casual mode issue and skill issue because if you play world tour or ranked you will almost always find an mmm team with cl40, model and ak running two heals a turret and all defibs dominating the lobby playing the game like it their 9-5 this season while I only think I've ever won one world tour tournament in season 3-4 with a full light team and I would consider myself an above slightly average player. I think also there's a lot of unnecessary hate towards the class and hypocracy like how the stun gun is too much of a crutch (which it is) but the rpg doing above 150 damage in s1 was just silly fun (s1-4 rpg is still a crutch) or how the sword which has a learning curve is too op but the sledge hammer which is easier to use is just silly fun, I also think a lot of people also seem to forget that the class got a lot of nerfs from ob-s2 with little to no backlash, lights just tried to adapt but when other classes got nerfed in season 3 there was lots of backlash. I think the actual issue with light is it place in benefiting the team since I think people take it less seriously compared to medium and heavy. The only gadgets the help the team are gateways which my teammates will avoid going through like the plague, vanishing bomb which my teammates will make their life goal to make sure I don't use it on them, goo grenades which every class has, glitch grenades which feel kinda useless now compared to ob-s2, the stun gun which only works with mhh teams with a healer medium and to stop steals then finally the sonar grenades which feel like a worse motion sensor. If we had something like a passive to make light be a worthy pick for teams so hml can finally challenge the long lasting hhm, mmh, hhh and mmm teams, it would be really nice

      I really like your comment and it summarizes a lot of the feedback I've gotten on this video. I agree with a lot of what you're saying and I'm making a follow up video to this one focusing on the heavy which will address a lot of what you talked about in your comment relating to the general balance. I totally agree with the gateway thing though. I try to make a play where I place down the first gateway, go invis, run to the cashbox and throw down the second gateway so we can catch the enemy by surprise only for my friend who I told to stay by the first gateway to say, "bro, I showed up at the same time as you." Anyways, the point is that I agree with you that we need more team-based light gadgets. Sorry for the rant.

    I agree with you, Medium has been nerfed too much this season unless you're using the Model or the FCAR. AKM is ok, but you're severely punished for missing any shots on a class above a Light. Everyone complains about the MMM chain res meta and I don't get it, that's the whole point of a team based game, that's a team supporting each other, the team that actually plays as a team should get the win. I've played both Heavy and Light this season because I'm not thrilled to be Medium anymore, both are fun but some of the builds just feel too OP and it makes it boring to run around and dominate that easily. I hope they figure something out and some updates this season will make it feel better soon.
