I feel that when I do speak up and advocate for myself, I get the “difficult person” label. There’s definitely an assumption that Asian Americans are more docile, patient and willing to endure more…

It’s such an unfair double standard and we’re so sorry you’ve experienced that before. It can feel suffocating to try to stay within the lines of these kinds of stereotypes…that’s why we’ve given up on trying to please others but unfortunately we still have to deal with real life consequences like these. You are not alone 🫶🏻

I felt a lot of pressure to become a doctor, lawyer or engineer. Now I work with oncology data and am very happy with my current career path. My majors in the social sciences got me nowhere!

Ahhh we’re so glad you were able to find a career path that you’re happy with!! It definitely takes some work to shed the layers of those expectations so we can find what will actually bring us fulfillment in life. You’re an inspiration 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

First time giving your show a listen. Have spread it to over ten social media websites. Would it be possible to break the show into four parts posting one every day? Have the number of dramas and movies being viewed here from Asia helped change people's attitudes? Some of the dramas from Asia are viewed up to 100 million times. Discrimination is painful

Thank you for listening and sharing! We appreciate you acknowledging that discrimination is painful. We are happy to finally see representation in more Asian films and in media, it is a good start. There is still quite a lot of work to be done in dismantling stereotypes and oppression. We will be posting short clips of our podcasts, in addition to the full episodes. We prefer to keep the full podcasts intact since they are on a cohesive theme ☺️

@@YourAsianBesties Here’s a possible topic to discuss - Do you ever feel as if Asian Americans are held to a higher standard in the school and workplace?
