How To Make A 90 Degree Drop Cheek Elbow
Another 90 degree drop cheek elbow but with different specs just to show that the steps are similar to the previous elbow I made two videos back.
Hopefully by then you should see a pattern on the steps and will apply those to the next video but with a different size transition along with an added step or letter point. stay tuned.

Rectangle to Rectangle Transition
มุมมอง 2007 หลายเดือนก่อน
Here both rectangles are in a cross position and are not offset to one side but evenly centered. I go over a few ways of doing this either straight from the drawing which is more of the grid type or independently from the drawing and use cross triangulation to get the same result.
Oval To Rectangle Transition
มุมมอง 3787 หลายเดือนก่อน
So this oval to rectangle transition has a little bit of steps like a standard square to round and also similar steps to a square to square transition. The same steps would apply on a oval to square as well. Also if you want to know about shipyard, check out Victor Chavez's channel @astilleros619

Very informative! I am building a big (700mm in diameter) gas turbine engine and need a bellmouthed air intake in aluminum that has an inner diameter of 295mm, way to big to make on the lathe. I am cutting the pattern as I write this and will glue it to a sheet of aluminum for a sturdy pattern. Thanks a lot for your very detailed video.
Oooo that sounds interesting. About 27 inches to 11 inches...yea that big. Yea let me know how it turned out I'm curiouse how it will hold together. Glad it helped and good luck @Mobackenracing.
@@compasslayouts If things go as planned I will have a video of the first test start on my channel late this winter. It is a big bastard and will consume 10 liters of kerosene per minute at full throttle so I really need to get the air into the compressor as smooth as possible to minimize flow losses.
Thank you for helping me get a promotion.
Really bro, that's a first? Wow thx my friend. I'm glad it helped. Just remember once you start getting the hang on doing these layouts..my ways are not necessarily the correct way but that there are other ways of doing it and if your confortable.doing it your way and the outcome is the same By all means doing your way. Have a good day.
It's very helpful man for my Pipe insulation trade😊
Glad it helped
Great job! You explain everything so well 👏🏻👏🏻
Glad it was helpful!
awsome video thanks my man
Glad you enjoyed it
Really cool. I like these ones that curve in multiple directions. Makes me wonder how complicated you could go with it.
Yea you can appreciate it more when it's 3 dimensional. You know l, that's how I was able to combine both of these shapes to well take on the shape this video shows. Yea, I'm wondering 2 if there's a way to make pedals or leaves from a plant by playing around with the layouts and get it close to resemble one.
Thank you man this is helping my class I hate asking for help but this help me understand better
Jake, I'm glad that it helped in some way and those comments go a long way and motivate me to keep going and find ways to make it easier to understand. Have a good day.
Firstly amazing tutorial but I have one question. Do you know of a convenient way to "transfer" the scribe lines from layout to your working material? I got the layout all right but going from that to making the pieces is my current struggle.
Hey @xximstupid great question...so pretty simple. Once your layout is done, I put that paper on top of the material your going to cut it out of...I'm assuming aluminum or steel sheet and use a center punch on every corner of the template and then connect the dots. It's a great way to do it on paper then transfer to the material because you can position the template and get as much out of a sheet Hope that made sence..hmmm.. I may do a quick shorts on how the transfer looks like but yea..use a center punch or something you can prick every corner with something like a nail and a lite tap with a hammer.
@@compasslayouts Thank you! That's such a simple method
That was cool to watch. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it! @totally_not_bot
I tried doing one myself of a square to a pentagon. When the paper was curving I realized I mistakenly assumed the quadrilaterals were on a plane. Should have used triangles!
Oooo a pentagon...hmmmm....you got me curiouse...gonna see if I can do one and if I can, I may put it up. Thx for the idea @jonahunderhill
Does this still work it the offset is greater than the square
Yes, even if the circle goes outside the square and it's evenly out up down left or right like an cross position, it should be the same. But once you start putting that circle at an angle like an x , that's what I call extreme offsets and instead of doing (2) true length triangles, you'll have to do (4) true length triangles..one for every corner....hopefully you seen those old videos that are three part videos. Hope that helps.
After watching a few of these I found myself anticipating the next steps. I like the pace you teach. Allows what you're doing to sink in. Where did you learn to perform these constructions? Reminds me a bit of this video I watched a few years ago that blew my mind. th-cam.com/video/2-q5_VHeX1E/w-d-xo.html.
I learned this from a good friend of mine along with co workers or at least the basics of what was required at work. I then started practicing and looking for other ways that could be efficient or make sence to the beginner. I try to make it understandable and especially easy to see the lines. Lol you still got me thinking of that pentagon...can't wait to try it out.
Interested ❤😊
Much appreciated @saikhunkhay3617. Have a good day.
please make a later toturial that is not normal. with a small diameter of 350mm with a large diameter of 450 mmk.
350 round to 450 round straight centered so it's a cone? 350mm = 13"3/4 and 450 mm = 17" 11/16?

Hey good evening my name is Kris from Philippines I have question for you .. if my diameter is 20" is this the same formula of 8" diameter? Thank you for the answer question

I have a question in my mind and maybe you have solution, examble you are going to do a eccentric reducer and the measurements is 2 meter on the big dia,1meter on the small diameter with 1.7 meter in height, instead of divider, how you will do it?
Ooohhh with no divider tool (compass). Wow that's pretty big. Well dor starters, seeing how it's a big cone, I would do it in (2)pcs. I would use the same methods like my video called Round to Round Cone...A faster Way. I would probably use a long pc of 1x4 wood and drill a screw on one end acting as a pivot sharp point and on the other end secure a pen or a sharp object to act as a divider and use that to throw your big radius. So on the 2 meters, what ever that is in total Round length, I would only do half of that so in your case only one meter so that way you have (2) half. I may attempt that in the future to show that there are other ways to make big radius arcs without a compass. So like how I mentioned on the video that I suggested to you, maybe after your done doing the big arc radius, use a string to trace the radius but only after you measured the string of the length you looking for. Hope it kinda makes sense but in the mean time I'll try to prep a video of that problem. Thx @dionisioerwinmontejo

Hello @adrianrodriguezcruz103..glad to here that and definitely motivates me to keep going knowing it's helping you and anyone that needs help understanding these layouts. Have a good day.
hello can you make 3 pieces equal 30 degrees miter cut please
Hi @paelojustinianoibarra1743. Good news, there is a video of that already made called How to make a (3) segmented 90 degree elbow...posted about 2 months ago. Go check it out my friend and enjoy.
How to Find a Throat or Radius of It
The throat is determined by you depending on how tight in you want it or far out. The radius I'm assuming the diameter of the pipe. If so, then you choose the diameter size and you ×'s it by 3.1416 and youll get the length of the layout.
@@compasslayouts lets say you are insulating an existing pipe on the field with sheet metal. how would you determine the bend? i understand the drawings but i do not know how to find that bend radius .. they use long radius and short radius elbows in industrial piping. is there a formula or a chart they use for center line radius? also there is faster way to divide your layout th-cam.com/video/uW3J5w1IMDY/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for your videos, you're a good teacher. Will be able to use this knowledge for the field. Have a good day.
Thank you @matthewmonaghan1064 and happy that you'll use it to make life a little easier at work. Have an awsome day.
Very helpfull video Thanks
Thank you and glad it helped. More pipe layouts coming soon.
Hell yeah... I can work from this... another of good points ...
Cool. Glad it will help you.
How do you come up with the lines that you cut?
Hey @chizzyoni2543. So the lines only reveal themselves once you finished drawing out your diameter, throat size, and finally your degree that you choose. Check out one of the long form videos that I show you how to make 90 degree elbows...maybe start with the video called- How to make a (3) segmented 90 degree elbow. Thx for looking and hope that helps.
Thank you so very much. I've watched tons of videos on this, but no one explained it better in English. Thanks again
That right there what you said is one of my goals...to try to make it make sense. Still more room for improvements as im just starting out putting out videos and not get shy talking to a camera. I'm glad it helped you out @elderkingsley.
