This was the third video I watched, but the fiest one to work for me. Thank you!
Thx much
I am currently trying to replace the rotors and pads on my 2005 Cadillac SRX 4.6L V8. I removed the Caliper and the Cradle for the pads before moving to attempting to get the Spindle Nut out of the hub so I can take the rotor off - but - to no avail because the front top right side of the Spindle Nut seems to be dented down into the Spindle itself and almost looks like it has Soldering on it at the pinch point or whatever it is. So not only can I not get the Spindle Nut off to remove the rotor, but when I put it back together, the Caliper plungers will not engage the back pad to press it against the rotor. This is why the front brake hasn't worked in over a year I suppose. I am not a mechanic, I have no friends nor anyone to help me and google is no help. Can you help me, brother?
Don’t touch the spindle nut. It’s got nothing to do with the brake rotor. If your rotor has three Phillips screws in it or T-30’s take those out if it don’t come off the rotors stuck on the hub and you got a bang it from the backside with a flat mallet hammer.
I'm about to have to repair my speedometer and this video had all the info I needed to get to it. I'll probably do the dash pad while I'm at it. Thanks!
Can you make a video that can fix it
They can’t be fixed, to fix them would require a kit with the springs and rubber washers in it and no such kit exists. When the valve fails it’s made to be replaced and not repaired.
What ever happened to just removing pan bolts and dropping it, putting a new gasket in and reinstalling the pan. Then torque the bolts in the specified pattern? Stupid engineers making it not easy to do. Might as well pull the motor to swap out the pan gasket...
What spray did you use for cleaning? 😊 What sprays are usable for cleaning as well? 😊 Very very good ans detailed video! Your explanations are great and Insightful for Ford drivers! 👌🏻👍🏻 An oil change and filter would make sense after the procedure, right?
Thank you! I use brake parts cleaner for cleaning certain parts, you can also use compressed air if you have it available.
Thank you 😊@@ranger.auto.repair
As opposed to using the double piston caliper tool, couldn't you just use a c-clamp while the caliper and pads were still installed and just compress it?
You can but it’s easier to use the double piston tool, because as you press the pistons in with a brake pad and c clamp as I have done many times, it takes a toll on the clamp and I’ve had them break in half under the pressure.
Gracias señor por su gran paciencia
Can you confirm that the new valve rattles?
On some you can, the one I got from ford rattled
Hi from Scotland, thank you for the informative video, I've a 1.8 with a bit of a thirst for oil. I'm going to proceed with doing what you've done in the hope that the oil consumption will reduce somewhat, may I ask why you did this procedure?
Well hello!!! I did this procedure because Ford service says that the PCV valve must be changed every 100,000 miles in order for the vehicle to comply with US emissions regulations because the PCV valve will build up with oil and carbon and will stop working and that will cause engine issues such as unusual oil consumption and higher tailpipe emissions. I hope this helps you out! Please come back and let me know!
@@ranger.auto.repair Hi and thanks for your reply, my car was poorly maintained and is on 140k miles, it still pulls well so I don't think it's the piston rings but I imagine a faulty pcv valve will play havoc with the crankcase pressure and possibly force oil under pressure UP past the piston rings to be burnt.
So 24 is calibration of the speedometer? No sensors to be replaced?
Code 24 is Vehicle Speed Sensor error, usually happens when the wrong size tires are used on a vehicle. This sensor is used on determining when to shift the electronic transmission. If this code is present on its own, check tire size and if it’s correct then replace the vehicle speed sensor. If the code is with other codes, repair the other codes first.
I have the same model and it suddenly won't turn left anymore. It will go right. The bucket works fine as well. I set the bucket down and lifted it up so that the front wheels were off the ground and tried to turn it then as well. Same results, fine going right, but not left. Any thoughts on where to check? I have read that the valve gets off centered sometimes and that could cause steering issues.
Make sure your hydraulic pump is full, just because it will move the bucket doesn’t mean it has enough to steer, check for any obstructions around the knuckle, sometimes a rock will get lodged in there and can cause it to not want to turn, you could try tapping on the valves to get them unstuck, that’s about all I can think of, I had mine stick to one direction when I got it and it turned out to be low on fluid, and I also had a huge air pocket trapped in the steering ram.
All data lines use a 7 volt signal on those trucks
Love your video.
Wow very informative video. Make more video.
Great vid!! It's a crazy job. Updated GM technical service bulletin does call for 1/4" bead of silicone (part# GM12346286/Permatex "right stuff") all the way around on both sides of gasket because of stamping inconsistencies on the pans. Or the RTV on 4 corners has still worked for some people who have the updated blue gasket/windage tray.
I tried it both ways because the job was done twice, I saw where a guy did this job 14 times on the same car, so I was trying to get this job done twice (once would’ve been preferable) and the new felpro gasket says no RTV except on the corners, so I tried it the first time per GM service information and it didn’t work, found the pan was bent, got a new pan and did it felpros way and it worked until every other place on the engine started leaking.. I hated that job!! Thanks for the feedback!!
Just changed the tensioner on my 08 this morning, this video was very helpful.
Thank you! Much to my husband's SURPRISE, I was able to follow your directions and change my headlight bulb by myself!
Love it! You’re very welcome!!
Wow thanks for your informative video.
Amazing video, riveting. Thanks
I just got shitted on at work because it took me 4 hours to replace the radiator in this vehicle and the book called for less. Stupid set up tbh it’s a hastle and I’m a mechanic
Totally agree with you! I didn’t even want to replace it, when that hose nipple broke off I swore and swore for 10 minutes because I know the nightmare GM creates when it comes to radiators.
There is a crow's foot made specifically for this job.
It was really hard to see what you were working on or how you took it off or anything because the two boxes the air cleaner in the way
Wow very helpful video.
Wow wonderful and very informative video. Make more video
Next time, try doing it with the bumper cover removed. It's not hard to remove, two bolts on each side between fender and cover the rest is push pins. Try it some time, after doing it once you'll see how much easier it becomes and opens everything up for further disassembly. Bumper is eight bolts and latch assembly six bolts and boom everything is accessible.
@@user-pc7wo2ot4y thanks but I prefer to leave the bumper cover on, where I’m at if that thing gets damaged there’s not another one around for miles and they’re expensive. But I’ll keep this in mind next time.
Hey brother, I missed why you disconnected the brake line from master cylinder. You pointed it out when you were checking for leaks. Thanks for taking your time to post this video!
Well the original idea was to replace the line because I had a hard time separating it from the rubber hose, and making a new line would be easier, but then I managed to get the two pieces split so there was no need to make a new line.
@@ranger.auto.repair Thanks for the reply friend.
I have a 3.7 in my ford transit. Looks like your engine sits sideways compared to mine. I have a P0345 but can't find the sensor? Is it in back by the firewall on the drivers side?
Depending on the year of your transit, it may have two, they are located on the back of the cylinder head almost in the middle, bank 2 is the driver side.
Does the replacement SDM just "work" or does it have to be programmed in a 2000 GMC Sierra 2500?
Should be plug and play up to 2007. If the airbag light comes on and stays on it might need programmed. The One I did was in a 2006 and it worked without needing anything done to it.
@@ranger.auto.repair thank you.
tbh not a horrible job for at home given u got all the tools. this video really helped me out. that wiring harness is the worst part hands down. thanks a lot sir.
Hey! I know this might be a longshot, but just wondering how this Dorman bushing has it held up with the car after the repair? Any issues or premature failure? I can buy either the Dorman or the OEM GM one same price. But seeing how the OEM GM fails, maybe the Dorman one might be better. Thank you!
@@philipkeds328 when the car came in for the replacement drive shaft and pinion I checked it and it’s doing fine, I saw the car the other day on the road so it must be doing great. I did notice the dorman part was built better than OE, which is pretty good for Dorman.
@@ranger.auto.repair Hey thanks for the reply!!! I think I will give the Dorman one a shot then. I was doing more research, and it looks like the OEM GM, when held up to a light or the sun, the 2 sides have no rubber, so light shines through. The Dorman appears to have some rubber on the sides, so when you hold it up, only light shines through the center where the bolt goes.
Great work
so where the actuator attaches to the hvac box, would that box be easy to replace if i had broken something on it ? and where would i even find that part? I also need the actuator as i have broken the black male ac/heat control fitting.
@@KevinMansell-d8x the actuator attaches to the driver side of the box, that whole assembly can be removed by taking a couple screws out, the box itself is a huge pain, once you get the dashboard out you have to drain the coolant and vacuum recover the Freon, there’s nuts and bolts under the hood that hold the box to the firewall, if you need a new hvac cable, the hot cold you can get those at the parts store, the mode doors comes from Ford.
I have a ho2s sensor 2 reading bad where that located
Under the car in the pipe about 6 inches from the secondary converter
Ugly adventure 😂🤣
I have a 02 gmc van that the under set box was gone. Disintegrated to white powder. It fried itself right out of existence. Never replaced and everything still works.
(2003 kia rio 1.6L and original mando 80 amp alternator)....I finally got around to doing the alternator, change out just as in the video, had to force the alternator past the AC aluminum line as mentioned, both ways, no biggy. I had troubles putting on new belts, where I struggled to get the alternator belt on and the power steering belt I had to remove the tensioner assembly to get the new belt on then reinstalled of course,...likely should have not installed the tensioner assembly for the alternator before belt was put on too. No room to really get my hands in there,...but I have smaller hands and I really should have done alot of things with the front motor mount still disconnected,...just the horizontal bolt and nut and not the two top nuts,....should have did alot more with the engine jacked up as far as I could get it.....I had the car on plastic car ramps on the front wheels,...used harbor freight high lift jack with some pieces of wood on the saddle to push up the engine on the oil pan,...that way I could later get underneath to put in the pivot bolt,...used a allen L wrench instead of a piece of brake line as mentioned in the video. Alternator was of course an o'reilly's bought that was tested before I paid for the new rebuilt mando...and alternator of course charges fine all installed. I discovered the older alternator belt was really cracked up and bad and the older alternator a person can hear the rear bearing rubbing it seems I almost consider rebuilding it an making some sort of project out of it like a wind mill battery charger instead of getting my $40 core charge, but likely will get my core charge back, that would be a cool project though if I ever did one. I don't know if there was actually a difference in a kia or mando alternator, I really doubt there as much difference,....the new rebuilt alternator has no markings or tag on it denoting mando 80,.....so there was likely no difference most likely,....seems like mandos were made in Malaysia for kia, thats all from what I see on the original alternator.
yeah , i have to change both cv axles was hoping it would not be such a pita
why didn't you bust the upper ball joint and swing hub/rotor down from the top?

Is there any hack to just forcing the air go out dash vents only? Mine is only blowing out floor and defrost vents. I don't think i have ability to remove everything you did to replace it. But if there's a way to rig it to only go out dash vents I'd appreciate any feedback or tips. Thank you.
Not that I’m aware of, you could probably rig the blend door for the dash vents but the time it takes to do that you could just change the actuator..
@@ranger.auto.repair I greatly appreciate your video and communication
Nice video… this looks very straight forward. Is there a reason why my mechanic wants to charge me 2000$ to change all 4?
He’s greedy and doesn’t know what he’s doing are the reasons that come to mind.
I have 2013 Buick Verano and I’m having the same problem I changed high pressure sensor .I changed the air filter I also changed mad flow sensor ..it’s giving me po172 po191 the car drives but go into limp mode at stop sign and red light ??
When I fixed it the same thing I changed high-pressure sensor and then drove it and it would die and then it gave me the 0172 code which is the rich code to fix that you have to change the upstream oxygen sensor if you do that you also have to change the downstream oxygen sensor because then you’ll end up getting a lean code which is the 0171 code After I did that it ran fine. You might have to do a relearn on the fuel system, but I can’t remember if I had to do that on the one I worked on or not. One other thing you need to do is with the key off let the fuel rail pressure off through the Schrader valve and then turn it on for one minute and then turn the key off. Let the pressure off again and then try to start it I found it worked on the one I worked on.
Okay thanks I was thinking about changing the throttle body because I watch video stating that the throttle body can cause the car to shut off ..But by me following what you told me would the p0191 code clear it self..
The only thing you wanna do with the throttlebody is clean it. You do that by turning the key on engine off. Find something to put on the gas pedal to hold it to the floor that will open up the flap on the throttle body use a nylon bristle brush like a toothbrush and throttle body cleaner not brake clean, you can clean the throttle body and then when you’re done, take the object off the gas pedal and then turn the key off and back on and then start it, as far as the 0191 it may clear on its own or you may have to force clear it with a scan tool.
Ok thanks so change 1)02 sensors both upstream and down stream 3) then relearn the fuel system. 4) Key off let the fuel rail pressure off through the Schrader valve and Then turn it on for 1 minute .5.Then turn the key off. 6.Let the pressure off again then try to start it ..
Yes
