hey! Great video! Can I do the bootscreen fix before installing mojave? I still don't have a metal GPU and wanted to advance the work
Hello please if someone sees this comment please tell me how I put movies and tv shows from iTunes and sync them to my ipod
Back in 1979 (Yes I'm old, shut up!) I bought Fleetwood Mac's Tusk album, and it was messed up as well! The labels were correctly printed, but I got no side two, I got side three twice! I should have taken it back and exchanged it, but I never did. I have the 2015 remaster on CD now.
You got a cool misprint. I’ll give you 20 bucks.
I have installed MacOS 15.0(Sequoia) on My MacPro 5.1(2012). :)
This might be too late, but now that I have the video, how do I actually get it ON the iPod? Also I'm using an iPod Nano 3 so I adjusted the dimensions to that. It seems that dragging and dropping the file doesn't work.
@@josephalvaro6206 add it to your itunes library, and ensure your iPod is set to sync videos/movies within iTunes. This can be done on the iPod's settings tab within itunes when it's connected. On modern Macs, same process you just do it through Finder
This used to work for me but recently i tried to do it again and not the videos seem glitched and most of the time crash the ipod when i try to exit to the menu. I check to make sure it isn't the video itself before i put it on the ipod and i have no clue if it is the ipod or the converter. Any advice?
God, its such a nightmare getting it to work on old technology, but its worth it because its way more fun. Thanks for the useful video !

No mention of the endgame exploit? all softmods have it now. it doesn't require any games or save games..

@@spottedtango what?? All you need is the Rocky5 endgame exploit now, transfer it to a USB drive with FATXplorer, plug it into Xbox with a USB to Xbox cable and run it.. That is all the steps to softmod a new Xbox..
@@spottedtango my reply disappeared. the new way is a dash exploit. It is a lot faster to do.
Works like a dream! Thanks so much!
Hi, thanks it worked out for me but the image quality is a bit poor (pixelated) at certain moments. Is this due to the 30 frame rate?
yo man, you got a link to where you got the clear case on the yellow one?
Not anymore brother, sorry.
@@spottedtango all good! thank you
thx!!!
Good evening, I'm looking to buy one of this Mac Pro 5.1 from 2012 to use in a virtualization homelab and I would like to know if anyone has managed to use more than the memory reported by Apple, I imagine that according to them this machine supports up to 8 x 32GB... which would be 256 with a dual processor, with each 6-core processor of this generation individually supporting 288GB... so could it be viable to use 8 x 64GB to run Proxmox or Nutanix? thanks...
sure, but in this usecase it would be hard to justify. unless you're getting it for free, a true blade or workstation from the first gen core series or it's xeon counterpart can be had much cheaper than a macpro 5,1 with better aftermarket support meanwhile using the same generation of hardware. For the same typical price you could also get newer, faster hardware in those form factors. possibly something from LGA2011 X99/E5-V3/4 or X299/LGA2066
@@spottedtango thanks
Hey great video. After installing Monterey did the bluetooth module work? I have the upgraded wifi/bluetooth module. Wifi is working fine but bluetooth will not even open the bluetooth preference pane. Seems that opencore removes it? Not sure what happens. Switching back to HS, Mojave or Catalina and the bluetooth works fine again.
OCLP post-root patch should cover that issue, at least with a stock card. If you've replaced your airport card you'll need a kext for that card to be injected via opencore config.
Hey I don’t know if you’re still responding, but would electrical tape be fine with securing the parts?
Do you need to do this for the 4th gen or is it specific for that model.
I do it for every model
Cheers for this realistic take. If you have the skills, are you thinking of becoming a competitor?
...you know...
If you don't know now you know... you know
Thanks for this. Didn't think that the mbr thing would make a difference after multiple Linux format, but it was a game changer for failing iTunes resets on multiple cards. Was giving up, but it worked immediately after this. 🙏🏻 Bonus tip a strip of thin slidey plastic like a washed milk container made getting it Back in without fouling a piece of cake.
Do I have to format my microsd card for iflash quad on 5.5 iPod
The idea of having a "dockable" laptop is a pretty neat idea
I flashed moded 5 iPod minis and I would say get Samsung cards if you want the most storage. For a 256GB card, Samsung gives you 239GB shown in the iPod, SanDisk gives you 238GB, and non NAND flash manufacturer brands will likely only give you 233GB, including Lexar. That 5 more gigabytes are not that important to me, because the iPods cannot play or store losses(losses would be converted to mp3 when you sync it to the iPod). The best we could get, 320k MP3 files, are not likely gonna fill the full storage before hitting the 25000 sounds barrier.
Actually iPods do support ALAC lossless codec, but the DAC isn't really good enough for it to be worth the trade off in data bloat in my opinion!
really a great guide!
For the most part i like EOE. There quality seems to be better then some ebay vendors i have used in the past. Processing and shipping an order isnt going to break any speed records though. But maybe i am just jaded from amazons two day shipping. I still buy from now.
Every instruction about Mac Pro and Mojave assumes you have functioning MacOS. What to do it you got Mac PRO without disc and you don't have secondary mac. ?
Option+CMD+R to start web recovery, might not work though due to the age of the last supported os. If it does you can upgrade from there with this guide to High Serria support.apple.com/en-us/101578 Or what's more likely to work is, you can use the "create the usb" sections of the Dortania's guide to grab MacOS on another os. Simply ignore the bits pertaining to OpenCore dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/installer-guide/linux-install.html#downloading-macos
Are you living under a bunk bed?
good for acoustics
Your a punk, you suck, end of story.
It looked like the faceplate went on like a breeze without fitment issues like some of the ebay replacements. I'm looking to get a 5.5 gen here soon and the atomic Nebula style looks right up my alley. Was wondering how it has held up so far to wear and tear? Also another quick question, do you think it's better to get a fat back VS slim as a base for modding? Heard that the fat ones have more Ram. Nice video!
Personally I run a clear protective outer-shell. Aftermarket faces tend to scratch pretty easy. I run a fat motherboard (thick back) in a slim case, so best of both worlds there. My faceplate is immaculate, but been cased it's whole life, so I'm sure that's why.
Why is fat32 so important? I use exfat on 2 ipods and work just fine.
you might think that but exFAT didn't exist when most iPods were made. I guarantee your iPods are formatted fat 32. Going through these motions just ensures that you get a proper MBR sector so that the file system plays nicely. Some models and storage media play nicer than others, and I'm trying to be as general as possible for maximum success chance.
@@spottedtango Good to know, thanks. I have this 7th gen with ordered parts. I wanna make it fat with a 3000mah batt and 1tb. The plan is to never open it again. So i ll try fat32 and leave it like that
@nfsu22009 sure! Lss, when you restore an iPod, the disk is reformed into fat32, however if it's not been previously formatted fat32 with a normal MBR, it might fail the restore.
@@spottedtango What if the ipod has an hdd? I can't plug in the hdd in the pc. Can i just restore the whole ipod? and id yes, can I also do the same with the iflash card so that I don't have to open the ipod? Sorry for bothering you, I m new to ipods.
@nfsu22009 if the iPod has an HDD it would've come from the factory with the proper partitioning information. This is exclusively for formatting SDXC.
I ordered a few parts about two weeks ago from EOE. Haven’t heard any update at all. Reached out to him a couple days ago and have had no response. I understand it’s just him and maybe one other guy and it was a very small order, so I’m not too worried about it. But it definitely makes me want to consider other sources in the future.

Do NOT purchase from them. It’s a scam!! I spent over $30 for a FireWire cable and charger. They never sent it and won’t respond to my emails. I’m now having to deal with my bank for a fraudulent charge to try to get my money back.
Had a custom job from him that was defective out of the box, screen went white when menu button was pressed. The faceplate also did not align correctly, and there was a plastic chunk under the faceplate screen area. I tried to RMA it, but he sent it right back in my box unopened. Return period exceeded. I am overseas (in american territory) therefore batteries can't be air mailed, they take the slow boat. The entire return period was just me waiting for delivery. I eventually opened it up to fix and here's what I found. -Display PCB was missing an insulating layer causing the whiteout issue. Major wtf, metal-metal contact with tarkan board -Wrong screws used on 30 pin fascia causing faceplate to be misaligned. From the bottom of an iphone 3g or something -Headphone jack assy missing one of the screw holes, broken off. Held on by one screw. Also the wrong version of a logic board.
Why your system firmware version is 999.999.999.999.999 instead of 144.000.000.000.000 ? Is it the same for nvme installation?
I assume that's a quirk of booting off opencore/OCLP. part of it's job is to spoof system information to allow installation of and the running of newer versions of macOS on legacy hardware. The firmware version is correct when booting Mojave without opencore, and if you're planning on flashing your firmware: do not do so while booted through opencore!
Good day Luke, I have a Mac Pro 4,1 that has been flash to a 5,1 with 2010 firmware installed upgrade from 2009. I want to know if I could get some assistance from you on this unit. Do you have an opinion about EOE’s newly produced Atomic brand of iPods that are 5th gen classics?
Afaik those are not much different from the rest of the line, barring the hand-dyed transparent faceplate. I have and am running an atomic faceplate as we speak. it's a solid product at a small premium over other aftermarket faceplates, the option is nice if the aesthetic appeals to you. Again, EOE is a retailer. Most of the products there can be obtained elsewhere, but I still shop there myself for the convenience of one-stop and one-ship to most people who build for others, it's very much worth the extra $20-50 to save 1-3? months of overseas. Plus you get a good warranty. Full disclosure, I actually moderate for EoE in their discord, for whatever bias that's worth. I also am not infallible, so make your own judgement.
One question. Should I change my bluetooth devices for Mac pro 5.1 from high sierra to Mojave ( then mojave to Monterey ) ? I do not want to invest in bluetooth 4.0 or 4.2.
Finally, I found a video can help me downloading the video to Ipod, thank you!

You say "I really recommend dual booting between Mojave, because it's the latest natively supported operating system and an open core OS of your choice, this is because open core won't boot Mojave or anything lower. That means that in the event where you need to troubleshoot something because you have a dead drive you'll need to be able to boot those older os's, and without boot screen support you won't be able to deselect the EFI boot…" Okay, I'm confused. You say you recommend booting between Mojave and open core OS of choice, but then you say open core won't boot Mojave or anything lower.
Yeah, OpenCore is a boot loader. You select it as a boot option from the native Mac bootloader. You can also select a regular and supported version of macOS as opposed to OpenCore from the native Mac bootloader as long as: the Mac natively supports the os and the mac has proper graphics support in the form of a flashed card or flashed bootROM. You would do so by holding Option/Alt on power on.
I 100 percent agree with you about the Mini’s screen. It probably the best monochrome screen besides the 3rd Gen. I find these are the best iPods. Its small and compact, battery lasts for ages, easy to mod with flash storage, shell swaps, backlight mod, and even replacing the click wheel plastic.
