    Very cool 🤙 I used to run a 6v71 on my suburban. Gary dyers of Dyers blower service (I believe is the name can't remember its been a decade or so. The center bolts are at a 31° angle for who needs it.

    Typical laziness of the world today not only in America but also abroad. Those who are the ones willing to do it themselves and get it done correctly and then enjoy their work are much better people than the other ones. Met and know both and those who brag and pay someone else to do it are the ones that you can't trust. If they really will lie about that they will lie about anything else.

      It works. You just have to be able to do stuff and source parts yourself. Originally this is where the blowers came from. It’s just when it became more common they started building blowers specifically for use on cars. A “proper” blower with the Teflon seals and such would make a little more power and be a little more efficient. But, if you’re not racing and really need that bit of extra power it isn’t particularly worth the extra price.

    From those of you that think it's not gonna work, it does , my dad and I were doing this for people who couldn't afford to build a new blower and we sent them to the semi junkyard to get a 6v71 and we would do exactly what this man is doing and put on their cars and they were fine, my dad built many race car engines and this works and will save you thousands of dollars

    I have like 4 of these blowers in are storage unit. Thought about doing this a few times. We work on Detroit Diesels all the time and can actually rebuild the blowers in house. We never did a conversion before though. The 6-71 blowers are more common. The 8V71 blowers are most for big block applications.

    That looks like a 4-71, a real 6-71 blower is about 15 in long. A 4-71 in 10, a 8-71 is over 20 in long.

    • @Soundsofthewood
      @Soundsofthewood 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The 6v71 blowers are more smaller then the 6-71. It needs to be smaller for it to fit in the top vs the side on a inline. Pretty sure they move the same amount of air though.

    Thank you for the video! just picked up two 8v71 blowers for 40 bucks. Blower prices have gotten out of reach. I see im not the only one looking to do it the old way.

    Plus also you have to remember that every blower guy has the same blowers as the next blower guy .... that's until you pull into the car show with a 6v71 and now your the unique one that stands out and the one who will have a conversation starter

    Will it fit an 8 71?

    • @unclesquirrel6951
      @unclesquirrel6951 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 6v71 case has four bolts holding it to the adapter plate and the 8v71 has 6 bolts . You'd have to get the conversion adapter plate with 6 bolts in order for it to work with an 8V 71 case

    I am not a blower shop but diesel does not lube those bearings there is a seal on the blower side of the bearing and shaft. those bearings are to be lubricated about every 2 years or 20,000 miles you remove that cover that has 3 bolt on it and that gives you access. Just take a swab and clean the grease out then take your grease gun and buy a grease zikr and solder a 1/8 in tube on it and plug it in your grease gun and inject chassis lube ( wheel bearing grease ) in to the bearing's then replace the try shape covers and that is it. On the front install the front cover then put in 16 ounces of synthetic 90 wt. gear lube through one of the bolt holes around the top of the snout. that's it folks.

    What did people do before the blower shop?.....exactly what you are doing but with less options!.....thanks im doing the very same thing. had one of those blower shop cheerleaders tell me it would cost to much. well i linked all the parts and prices to do it to him showing im not even 1/4 of the $4-5k for a new 6-71 kit

    OK, so how much did you end up having into the setup by the time you were done? P.S. Where are you finding/sourcing the 6v-71's anyway? P.P.S. I see no more videos were made on this, so it looks like it didn't happen!! Oh well, back to spending $8000 on a small blower setup!!

    After all that talk about saving money and the “built not bought” mantra, you got hosed on a carb adapter plate. You didn’t exactly need much fabrication talent to figure out how to get a pair of carb’s bolted to the top of a V blower.
