Xenoblade is an open world rpg that it never sold and never caught traction- hence its still on the mkt new and limited edition for like 30.00... they cant even give it away at that price! But lets use Xenoblade for its real ultimate purpose here: toilet paper. FE should be on the list but its so expensive now not many can get it anymore. Arc Rise is a phenominal game too... turn based but traditional rpg nevertheless. My top 3 would be Arc Rise, Opoona and FE. I foresee Opoona going up to the 100 dollar range in the next year or two.
It's being sold for £155 ($200 US) on ebay uk right now, and $170 or nearest offer on ebay usa, sealed. Wii U limited edition game (I think it's the sequel) is $199

As much as I enjoy the Zelda games, I don't consider them RPGs. They're excellent games, but I consider them action/adventure. The people arguing they are RPGs, would need to explain which games aren't RPGs. Since a good majority of games you play as a central character moving through a story. I'd say the Zelda series (except maybe adventure of link) are as much RPGs as Gears of War or Grand theft Auto. No disrespect to the Zelda series, Link's awakening is one of my favorite games of all time, and all of them deserve at least a single play-through. I guess going back to table-top rules, I consider RPGs to be number-crunchers, where statistics are given a clear value. But, not a bad list. Everyone has opinions, and I enjoy using all these Top X lists as my buying guides.
+Kosteri x imo the only bad thing about earlier monster hunter titles was the camera controls on the PSP. On a controller with 2 analog sticks (Wii U Gamepad, Wii U Pro Controller, Wii pro controller) The controls are fine. On the DS they suck but theres the CPP attachment and the new 3ds has a "c-stick". The controls in Monster Hunter are fine. Its a difficult game though. Maybe you never got good at it or never had the patience to do so.

Why is the Legend of Zelda here!? Its not even an rpg, it barely comes close to being one, yeah you control a character with a major role to the story but that's it.. The LoZ series has never been rpg related, the genre for the games are mostly Action, Adventure and Fantasy. There is comedic aspects to the newer games too. Skyward Sword (my fav addition to the series) had the most comedy in it.
Poké Gamer well that depends on your definition. If you don't put your heart into zelda games you won't get far. RPG is all about 'getting' another world and reason in it (although zelda is more puzzle than other RPGs), RPG is not actually number crunching statistics on everything. RPG is also about plot and story, and zelda has in a sense plenty of those. In this vein, Tales is the perfect RPG, but I never finished any tales, just got bored with each one. I put about 60 hrs into ToS and got just over half way.

I don't really consider Zelda an RPG. You don't level up and grind or do anything of the sort. It's more of an adventure game than an RPG. Twilight Princess is my fav Zelda and I have it in gamecube version, but still more of an adventure game than an RPG.

While those are typically RPG elements, they aren't exclusive to RPGs, nor are they required for a game to be an RPG. An RPG is a Role Playing Game, and LoZ is just that. A series of games where you play the role of a character (typically Link). While they may not be very traditional, they're still RPGs.

Kosteri x there is no rhythm in xenoblade because the random encounters are too easy and the boss fights too hard. Other gripes: you need a big screen to make out the text, the AI in combat is hard to follow. The wii is not fit for action games. The title should have been "Top Time Consuming Wii games for the unemployed" or something. Xenoblade is not fun, it has epic moments stretched far inbetween (apart from first phase).

Tri is more beginner friendly. Play Tri with the Wii classic controller pro. I like the Ps2 games. but they haven't aged all that well
