lol youre just diverting the dogs attention and manipulating it . Dog isnt letting you as such ,but fair enough ,i wish dog owners are redponible and ckean their animals butts and mouths ,and are cobtrolled do dont harass strangers
Pairing an experience with something good isn’t the same as diverting attention and manipulating. 😉
good method, good understanding of lives, good wisdom
Can you tell me the name of the training pad holder; please! Hoping to get this brand; or something similar 🥰🙏🏻❤️🐶
You can type in “pee pad tray” on Amazon.
@@sherylgim8906 thank you so much for the quick response! We’re trying to finalize our choices; there being 2 styles of trays… one that holds the pads in place; and one with a plastic grate that snaps closed over the pad, so our puppy won’t have to walk on the paper… this is the style we’re are leaning towards. On new JRT puppy comes home this Sunday afternoon & we’re all very excited, but it’s been almost 20 years since we last had a puppy. So many more products & options than there used to be; lol!
@@catski23 The one with the plastic grate is great. It’s hygienic because your pup won’t have to walk on the pad. Enjoy puppyhood! They grow up fast. I have a private group on Facebook where you can ask questions and share your journey with the group. You can join us if you want. Our group is called Jack Russell Terrier Support Group.
@@sherylgim8906 Oh; that sounds great! I’m sure we’ll be able to use all the help we can get. I’ll join today; before I forget, but we won’t officially have our little guy & one of his brothers for my sister’s house; until this Sunday 🥰🙏🏻❤️🐶
Thank you so much for advocating against anti-barking devices. I mean we humans talk, laugh, yell, whisper, whistle etc. Dogs, as you say, are just communicating and if they're barking they're usually either quite stressed or trying to protect us in some way (unless it's play barking etc). So... pretty rotten to just use an aversive under those circumstances ☹️ Thanks for your kindness and sensibility 💗 (and, this video!)
Sushi! What a CUTE name!!! 😄🥰
Thank you.❤️
Hi which month / period is this ?
November
被脑控了!
My late 😢 JRT used to do the very same thing! I never figured it out, but since she was asleep I thought maybe she was dreaming, perhaps about her puppy days. It sounds just like the yipping noise made by some infant pups.
😊 they look so cute when they walk
Great to see a trainer who doesn’t just pull the leash as a solution for everything. Thats not good for building a connection.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.🐾
Hello
Mine does the same...I was thinking sleep apnea or something...she does it most every night
I didn’t know dogs could experience sleep apnea too.
Я подумала он плачет , а он спит так.
My Jill Russell make the oddest of noises when she sleeps…. I love them and can’t fall asleep without them 😊
Ours is the same, but louder and more movement.
Ahh..so teaching ..if i stop i getta treat to go! Cool.
Thanks for commenting.🐾
This is exactly what happened with my dog. Made the issue much worse!
Timing is important. You don’t give the treat when your dog stops. You give the treat when your dog continues. But you have to make sure that your dog isn’t in any pain because training will never work if the root cause is medical. So before thinking about training, do a complete vet evaluation first.
@@sherylgim8906 Yup. The treats were given quite a few strides after the stopping and the dog has been evaluated by a veterinarian. Smart dogs will know to repeat an undesired behaviour, if they know they’ll be rewarded for it. There is no one size fits all solution in dog training; Every dog is different. In my dog’s case, this training method was not beneficial.
My dog’s still snapping at me, she can keep the poop butthole I guess
The only weird thing here is that you managed to film it. As soon as my JRT does something this cute I only have to look towards my phone for her to wake up. Forget reaching for it.
The timing was perfect. I was already on my phone.😁
My Jack Russel Terrier makes that noise when she's asleep that noise mean their dreaming
Yes, that’s possible.
My Jack Russel does this too
My Yoda makes the same noises, never had such an animated dog!
They’re so adorable!
I am chasing bunnies !!!!
That noise is dreaming of chasing rabbits.
Super😂❤
Thank you!🐾
Chasing rabbits 😁❤️
Or me 😁
That Jacky reminds me of my old Jacky who was part rat terrier. He made similar sounds in his sleep when we would lay on the couch. I miss him.
Exactly the same as my little girl ❤
How long do you keep the same pad there for? Do they need going to the bathroom on an used pad? My dog likes to poop while walking so he starts on the pads but goes off it. Do you have any advice on how to get him to just go on the pads?
I change pads once or twice a day. Depends on how often my dog goes there. My dog poops on walks too. She only poops on the pad if we can’t go out let’s say for a day (like bad weather). Maybe try to do that. Reward your dog if he does.
Puppy has bad dream of chasing bones😢😊.
Maybe!😁
Happy to know you're in youtube!
Dreaming about chasing bunnies
Probably!😁
I have new Jack Russell she 5months her name is Honey she loves going for walks small ones but gets excited and wetsthe floor
She’s still a baby! 🐾
how cute! My JRT is a mess, he is 1,5 but can't stay at home at all. He is left sometimes for 60 to 90 minutes and it's super duper hard for him. He hates it, barks, yells and everything. we tried it all!
Have you tried Julie Naismith’s techniques?
@sherylgim8906 no, but I'm looking at it now!
What treats are used?
Chicken
You have no idea how JOYFUL it was for me to find this video--especially that you have a Jack! I have one too, and training has been long and slow (my fault I'm sure). i get the point of this video and would really LOVE to start doing this...but I do have a question. Mine is super reactive to all distractions (birds, dogs, deer, rrucks, squirrels, etc). Even in the location where you made this video, there certainly could have been noises (beyond just the birds). Is the point that the frequent high-value treat (when she checks in) going to override that instinct????
Thanks for asking. If you want your dog to succeed, start easy and gradually layer in distractions. Practice at a low distracting area first (eg, living room). If your dog consistently does well (at least 80%), practice in another area of your house, then your backyard, then a fenced area, and so on. And when outside, use a long leash in the beginning or until you are sure. This is for safety purposes. Don’t rush it. It has to be done according to your dog’s pace. Sometimes, it’s not about the treat, it’s the level of distraction (practicing somewhere your dog isn’t actually ready for it), reinforcement history (if your dog is fluent enough to move to a more difficult area), distance and so on. The timing of giving the reward is important as well. Hope this helps.
This is great❤
Thank you!🐾
😲😲
Why the mask?
Dust, insect, and smoke (grass burning) protection.
Your title says how to brush a dog that hates being brushed. You should of had a dog that hates to be brushed. This video shows me nothing but a dog that likes being brushed. Nowhere in this video does it show a dog that hates being brushed. So just what are we supposed to get out of this?
The video explains what to do. It’s a demo of the steps. And this what I did when my dog was still learning how to trust me with the brush. Learn these steps and try it with your dog. That’s the goal of the video. To demonstrate the steps.
I have to mix a little bit of organic peanut butter with it for him to take it otherwise he will not eat it
What a peaceful background.
Thanks for watching!
So how to you go from this to actually walking around the block?
Practice the same way starting just in front of your house. Make it easy at first and gradually increase the distance.
@@sherylgim8906 thanks. We’ve been doing this. Very short walks followed by much fetch in the backyard to burn energy. She’s 9 months old. How fast do you think I’ll be able to increase the distance-or is it just ‘see how it goes’?
The slower you increase the distance, the better. It’s going to be worth it.
@@sherylgim8906 thanks 🙂
I let my Jack Russell and my Scotty sniff on our walks, but, not every blade of grass. Sniff a little, do your buisness and let’s keep walking. We all get exercise.
I let mine sniff however long she wants. It’s her walk, not mine. At least that’s how I think of it.😊
Where did they play in the backseat
Some say black pepper is toxic to dogs. Are your dogs large cause maybe that matters to handle that? Also, when using plastic in hot items those chemicals can leach out into foods. I find black pepper many insects do not like and if skin has that can prevent bites. Good for pet flea bomb but I heard and read it’s not good for pets, so that must be wrong if you use it unless if a larger pet can tolerate what smaller ones won t be able to.?????
No. This recipe is made by a VET. I’m using a glass jar.
@@sherylgim8906 I meant that spoon that stirred the hot pot food. Are the dogs large? The vet says it’s not toxic the pepper?
@@maryannsinopoli1751 The spatula I’m using is for cooking so it’s safe. Pepper activates the turmeric benefits. It’s not toxic. Small and large dogs can have this paste. You should read about Dr. English. He’s the one who created the original golden paste recipe.
@@sherylgim8906 I am upset with so many discrepancies on net, pepper is one, then oregano oil for fleas is another, one says ok, other says harmful. I do not ever know what the heck I should do or can do safely. It is frustrating! Then, say coconut oil is fine on dog fur, but I had bad vibe with it , so now I do not trust coconut oil. Mine was from Philippines e cold pressed all the good stuff to look for and was a failure and harmful to smaller species! Sometimes, I think larger can accept more tolerate more …..
I read black pepper in a very small dosage is safe for dogs, one eighth teaspoon level (proper measuring spoon) is fine, I have only started turmeric for my 3 fur babies a large Golden Retriever, and 2 miniature Jack Russell's, in their vegetables I add half level teaspoon turmeric and one eighth teaspoon level black pepper with half level tablespoon coconut oil- my little miniatures are extremely fussy eaters, but seem to be loving this. I then serve their meat or liver mixed into VEGETABLES and soup
How cute
Thanks!🐾
Looks good but my shit zu wouldn’t go for that.
I'm scared to do that I feel like his going to run away 😭🤣
You should use a long leash first.
@@sherylgim8906 ohk I’ll try
@@sherylgim8906 btw upload more videos of dogs
@@Xxvi_wantap Thank you for your suggestion. I will try to be more active on TH-cam.
Why a mask outside in the middle of NOWHERE?🙄 & All well & good when there are ZERO distractions .
Dusty and to avoid small insects going into my nose. This is a rice field. The tractor is a big distraction for her. Thanks for watching!😊
My Jack Russell never pawed at it which is kinda disappointing, all she did was sniff and lick my hand. It's a good tutorial but she is too focused on the treats
