America's Military Recruiting Crisis
How bad is our military recruiting crisis? Why are our armed services having sustained problems bringing in and retaining members? And what does this say about our strategic readiness, and what that means for our national security? Jeff is joined by Will Thibeau, former Army Ranger and defense policy authority to discuss this troubling, important issue.

00:00 Introduction to American Idea and Today's Topic
This episode of American Idea discusses military recruiting and Readiness, particularly the crisis in American military recruiting.
04:01 Tension Between Democratic Society and Military Needs
In a liberal society, there is an inherent tension between the realities of a conservative military profession and the rights-based values prevalent in society. This tension has become more acute in recent times.
08:02 Causes of Military Recruiting and Readiness Crisis
The military is seen as a force for political ideology, rather than an institution focused on military Readiness. Families of veterans are increasingly unwilling for their children to serve due to distrust of politicized military leaders.
12:06 Military and Political Distrust
Three Admirals urged skepticism of laws passed by Congress because many elected representatives are white men. They believe such laws carry an agenda that weakens military trust and fidelity.
15:54 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Policies in the Military
Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies in the military have compromised the pipeline into the military, affecting the health of the Armed Forces. West Point's DEI policy is more radical than Harvard's, leading to concerns about broken trust between citizens and the military.
19:42 The Importance of Junior Officers' Readiness
The strength of the American military lies in its capable junior officers. However, inherent characteristic qualifications are being emphasized more today than before, potentially compromising merit-based promotions. This, along with the spread of civilian society accreditation gates within the military, has altered the meaning of military qualification, which conservatives must address to maintain institutional integrity.
23:32 How Elite Generals Profit from the War
Despite the end of the war, high-ranking generals continued to be promoted without any notable achievements or tangible benefits for the military. This has led to a system where generals are more concerned with climbing the corporate ladder than with the well-being of their troops. The speaker compares this situation to the disparity between the number of ribbons awarded to Dwight Eisenhower and Mark Milley, implying that Milley's success is based solely on his ability to navigate the political landscape rather than on his military accomplishments.
29:23 Technology's Impact on the Military
Advancements in technology have allowed the United States military to reduce its size and rely on drones and other remote-controlled weapons for combat. However, these technologies have also made it possible for smaller and less powerful countries to acquire weapons that can challenge the United States' dominance. The speaker argues that the United States must adapt to these changes by investing in new technologies and tactics, while also recognizing the importance of traditional military capabilities such as infantry and ground forces.

Angry American Politics - What We Can Learn From The Election of 1800
มุมมอง 4414 วันที่ผ่านมา
We often look at our divisive, shrill, and angry politics as somehow outside of some vague norm, or worse than at any time in our past. Go back to go forward as we look at the Election of 1800 and how two parties reduced themselves to name-calling and lies, and still agreed to the first peaceful exchange of power between opposing parties in history. Did Federal Officials Pressure Social Media Companies to Censor Americans?
The first step to getting any better is admitting to ourselves that we just lost a 20 year war based on lies for record Raytheon and Lockheed profits. We can't trust senior officers anymore because they often serve defense contractor profits and NOT national defense.
You will not be around
The media needs to be honest and not pick side's they're not doing their job's its sad that we don't trust them at all 😅investigating means just that seeking the truth not their opinions but the truth not cover up for the democrats
Use online and not from mainstream media
My grandfather was a glider pilot in market garden 316th 37th squadron carried in the 82nd.
Glider pilots don't get enough attention in the mainstream histories - that was a gutsy way to take to the skies.
More Dutch people supported the Nazis then any other Country

Cool stuff, my father a bombardier 15th AF 455 th BG 720 squadron did his 35 missions and survived. His last mission was Linz, Germany 3/2/45. All in B 24's which he thought was a great bird.

If I don’t what you say, what can I do? TALK-that’s what. The solution to speech we don’t like is more speech.
Free speech to challenge an idea but not shut down ideas.
Agreed some are taking advantage by censoring speech. But this should not be funded by the federal government. Our colleges censorship should be watched so harm doesn’t come with fee speech.
Great interview! I never would have dreamed that we would be in such a sobering circumstance regarding Free Speech Rights. Thank God for civil libertarians like Jonathan Turley, and Alan Dershowitz too! These two gentlemen may be the last good Democrats?
I agree with Turley's optimism for free speech because I think all forms of its oppression necessarily presuppose it through the very tactics of manipulation and repression employed, which unwittingly affirm the indestructible human need to engage in dialogue in the Public Sphere.
The USA goes on and on that they have freedom of speech. Their hypocrisy is on full display
As an older person, what I remember most about common rules, code of conduct and regulations is that they were written with the idea that people are basically good and just need some simple guard rails to follow to keep things in order. Since Donald Trump's influence as a leader to American culture, a lot people believe its okay to be hateful, disruptive and even criminal. The old rules need updating, and bad people today need stronger guardrails. We never expected that society could be so unhinged and extreme.
The only idea I want to hear about the Supreme Court is that Thomas and Alito have been impeached.

Vivek, as many others born in the US of America, believes only those within what he knows as "America" are "Americans"...The failure to understand the importance of What and Where America is, is a failure that will cost many Americans TONS of Gains, beginning by the fact that the rhetoric used today against ALL Americans, in particular Latin Americans ...Will only make more difficult to overcoming the shortsightedness of others, who think "wealth" is only what they know, not what it really is, as many generations past from everywhere BUT AMERICA... So, attacking and demonizing the poor and humble today they are ensuring the limits of their own capacity will stay the same...until others come and empower the poor and humble of America, and they become the rich and and close minded of other generations past, also American, and with faults of its own...Ripe for the taking by emerging Powers, and denying the coming down Powers from the opportunities times like these present. The Real Native American people do not often use that card to attack others origins, or "ancestral" right fullness to the land, where Vivek though born here in the USA, still remains more Indian than any Native American will ever be able to rightfully claim to be. America is NOT India, and Americans (Original) have never been, nor ever be Indians, that is just another misnomer of some of our Also Loved and Cherished European Ancestors...Lost, but found...and the ones that unified most of America under the same Civilization, replacing more "unacceptable practices" of Original Americans and Civilizations, integrating the best America has always had to offer into a single Civilization, where India still remains independent of, belonging to the same Civilization Vivek comes from...so, how American can he claim to be without any American ancestry, neither European nor American, as all of OUR America today is? Their contribution is priceless, their identity is up to them to decide what it is, but why undermine our own? 🤔...Why attack other Americans whom are poor and humble not by their own making, but by those who tend to exploit the Original People of America at least historically but also not accepted by today's American standards? Is that how Indians want to be viewed by Americans prior to their arrival? Or is it just Vivek's?...Make America as Great as it ever has been, not as bad as it can get and got before...That is a more "American way" built better, not worse, stronger, not weak and vulnerable by internal division...We do not want a Middle East situation in America, that is just NOT who WE ARE. 😎
This guy would be worth listening to if he had any originality or substance. He is intelligent and articulate but is such a con man. Proof : His sucking up to Trump.
The entire Westcoast is cartel owned, governors/mayors/DAs etc, we the state residents have zero power, the entire system is rigged and no one goes to prison, we tried repetitively to recall these corrupt elected officials but we can't bc thry control votes
OUR INDEPENDENT VOTES DONT COUNT, WE ARE VOTING FOR ELECTORS NOT PRESIDENT, ELECTORS CAN VOTE HOW THRY PLEASE, ITS PROVEN!!! all 50 states need to be counted n verified before declaring a winner, stop this election night crap we want all individual votes to be verified, it's not about who won this stare or that state, all votes need to matter
The Lord Jesus said that Vivek will be Trumps VP and president 48 and 49 and will live in the White House for 12 years.

Hey Bubba did you know that more Americans have been killed BY Americans in AMERICA than ALL the Americans killed in ALL the foreign wars combined that Americans have fought in,mainly thanks to the second amendment...
thank you for the video
Vince Bugliosi’s book is THE Bible on the assassination.other great books are Posner, Sturdivan, Priscilla MacMillan, Howard Willens, Dale Myers, Norman Mailer and Patricia Lambert’s in-depth debunking of the Garrison case that Oliver’s movie was based on. Sean Munger a PhD historian has two lengthy TH-cam’s called Oswald Alone
Max Holland’s argument is iron clad. Witnesses heard and saw the first shot at the traffic light. There are also still photos of the secret service agents standing on the running boards of the second limo, before Kennedy gets hit in the neck, and they are all looking back toward the TSBD. The Warren commission started the clock at the Kennedy neck wound which they saw on the Z film was the first shot. But recreations with expert shooters could still make three good shots in the original 5.6 seconds. Holland gives the correct 10 seconds
The reason in part for conspiracy belief, is that there have been so many conspiracy books written, many of which have competing and some with contradictory claims. Writing a book confirming the Warren report is not very glamorous or salacious so the proportion of conspiracy to non conspiracy books on the market is at least 10:1. The well meaning public looks at this and feels that there is ten times the evidence for conspiracy. Unfair situation.
The percentage that believe conspiracy has been steadily, but slowly, dropping over the past couple of decades, in the high 60% from much higher in the 1980/90s
American government madness
