This video was recorded in my laundry room - the busiest room in the house - and shows exa...

Thank you for the good info.
I don't wash my "good" quilts, I have two that are special. On the first frosty day of winter I hang them outside all day and they come back in smelling of fresh air. They're slightly damp at this stage but left overnight on a clothes horse indoors they're dry in the morning. I do use a top sheet.
thank you for this video. Do you have any idea how much background fabric is needed? I’m going to do the vintage two and I’m not seeing where it says how much background fabric to purchase.
Thank you! 😊
Your overhead camera is not showing up.
Looks like my Quality Control team (me) missed that. I will edit that footage into a short video and get it posted within the next couple of days. Sorry about that! Thanks for letting me know.
I love it.
Thank you so much. Glad that you are here.
So stinking cute! I am hooked! SUBSCRIBED AS WELL
Thank you for subscribing and your kind words about the project. So happy that you are here.
Hi! I just assembled my frame and tried to attach the leaders with the tubing, but the fabric just slipped out. Is you tubing in a hem in the leaders?
@@JacqualynMiddleton on my leaders, there is a pocket (like curtains have). I put my tubing in the pocket and use the tool to push it in.
@shamrockquiltstudio great, thank you!
I have had this frame for about 5 months. I have it set up, but being new to quilting was unsure how to get the quilt, binding, and backing all on it. Thanks so much for this video. I need to find leaders mine was new in the box but didn't have them. Thanks again for a great video.
At one time you could buy the leaders from Grace but I don't know if they're still available. The instructions have information about how to make your own. You can do a google search for it but I've attached the link to the instruction file I found on line this morning. When I bought my frame second hand, the previous owner had made her own. I ended up making a set for another one of the sizes. graceframe.com/frontend/images/instruction-pdfs/hand-frame/ez3_ff_instructions.pdf?srsltid=AfmBOoqhg2q1P9hjCCivA5T6k10bZaaHfmFfK50riGjKHKRwJxPILtUs
Nice video. Can you attach a template for the bulb, please.
If you will send an email to shamrockquiltstudio@gmail.com before 11/20/24, I will be happy to email a pdf to you.
I did a web search for Christmas light clipart and copied a simple one to use

Great project. I admire your creativity and ingenuity. It looks so cute!
Thank you! I really love the way it came out. Second video wraps it up next Wednesday. Our December BOM is also really cute. That video will be out November 27th. Thanks for watching.
I leave mistakes like this I figure it’s an Easter egg to the new owners
Well, that's fun. Thanks for watching.
I could not find the mistake until you pointed it out. I don’t think the person you gift it to will either. It’s such a cute quilt!
That's great to hear. Glad to have you here.
I agree. I didn't see it either. The mistake is a sign that a human made it rather than a computerized machine. I'd leave it!!
Kudos to you for tackling your own design and sharing your process with others. It turned out very cute.
Thank you. It is a little scary and sometimes the results aren't exactly what you hoped for but it's a great way to learn.
Only God Almighty is Perfect.
You are exactly correct. I do like to correct my mistakes if I can once I know about them, if I can. Thank you so much for watching.
I was in a knitting group with this fantastic knitter and she said she always left a mistake in her work because nothing in life is perfect. Loved it, made total sense, and made me feel better about my mistakes!
Thanks for sharing! Glad you're here.
If it really bothers you, another option is applique another 4patch positioned correctly over it.
Yes, I thought of that as well. I will likely film my repair whenever that happens. Thanks for watching.
Good points! Quilt is beautiful and I wouldn't fix it. Last year in November I was making 4 identical Christmas tree quilts. I found that I had turned an outer edge HST the wrong way on one of them. Sadly I didn't notice it until my longarm automated quilting program's design was about 8" away from the error. I let the quilting continue and decided that quilt would be for hubby and me. I'll still be a snuggly quilt for relaxing and watching TV. Yes, I made sure the other 3 quilts were correct. :)
Oh my! So glad you were able to fix the other three. It's really hard to catch those errors when we have been seeing those designs so much.
I plan on making this quilt, and have looked at it multiple times - studying the picture. Did not notice it! If it were me, I would just move on and love it as is.
It's definitely not a priority. I will probably fix it after the holidays. I had fun making this quilt. The blocks are easy and it's quick to put together.
Love it, thanks for sharing you knowledge and great job with the video, filming and editing as well.
Glad it was helpful!
I wouldn’t even try to fix, it looks great and it is part of the story of the quilt, you look at the whole and it looks great. I really like the effect of the sashing and all the attention you put in making it work, I wouldn’t be able to do that or think that, maybe now you make me consider it.
Thank you! You should give it a try.
It doesn't bother me. I was told by an Amish quilt maker years ago that God didn't like us to try to be perfectionists. Therefore, there are small mistakes sewn into the quilt as not to curry God's wrath. This mistake is agreeable and shows your humanity.
Thanks for watching. I've heard that expression as well. I'll probably fix it at a later date.
Wow, great job came out, so beautiful!
Thank you, I love it!
So cute!!!
Thank you, I think so, too!
Why are you sewing over your pins? Doesn't that hurt your needle?
I usually only use pins when I need to ensure that the fabrics don't shift and I always try to remove them before stitching over them but sometimes, they don't get removed. Of course, it would be a better practice to never sew over them but I don't worry too much about it. I do change my needle frequently. Thanks for watching.
Great video, I have never done this so probably will start with a tiny one because I have only a tiny circular table where I sew so don’t want to get traumatized 😅
You comment made me laugh! I was definitely traumatized that day. Anything that could go wrong did go wrong. It is much easier to start with a smaller project. For this one, my backing fabric was much larger than my quilt top and batting. Had I trimmed it down first, I think it would have been easier. Thanks for watching and for the giggle.
I also just found an EZ3 frame at a thrift store, and found your video most helpful. I think I can find all the few missing parts except the bars that connect the aluminum rods, to extend them. Any thoughts on that? I will be rewatching this video again to get all the helpful hints you gave. Thank you!
As I recall, those aluminum connectors that go between the aluminum rods are specially shaped to fit into the interior of the bars. If you could find something that would fit the interior and support the place the rods are joined, it should work. You might need to fasten the rods together some how. You only need to use that if you want to use the largest size which I think is about 90". You should be able to use the two smaller sizes without that connecting piece. I did a quick search of the Grace website and didn't see where they offered parts but it might be worth a call or email to them to see if they have any suggestions.
Do you make any notes for a project you set aside? I worry about forgetting where I was and what I was doing?? I have done that before especially if I am not making a project exactly like the pattern
I tried keeping a quilting diary but I found that I frequently "forgot" to make the notes I needed. If I need to remember something about a project, I will pin a note to it. I also have the ability to review my videos for other information. When I am hand quilting, I usually leave straight pins with colorful heads marking where I am.
@@shamrockquiltstudio Thanks great idea about pinning a note. I too could not do a diary but pinning a note to a specific piece is a great idea. I have started and stopped several projects and had no idea where I left off or what my thoughts were for the project. Thanks
Thank you. I just found your channel and I really like it. Do you have system to review projects that you have put away and bring them back to work on? I always worry that I will have out of sight out of mind forever syndrome.
From a practical aspect, I use most of my quilts in my home. Bed sized quilts are used seasonally. Some projects are designed and created specifically for studio decoration and those get rotated to keep the wall art from being static. Smaller projects are also used in the home at specific times of the year. I created some videos early on and chatted about how I made them. You could check out the playlist, "Show and Tell" to see some of those. I am considering a video trunk show during the winter to discuss some other quilts.
Thank you for this video. I am in the midst of basting a quilt and it's nice to know that others are challenged to get the quilt sandwiched and smoothed. I admire your patience. This is a beautiful quilt. Great tips!
Hi, I just discovered your channel today. I love this quilt and your tips. I bought the book today. Your fabric choices make such a clean crisp look that I love.
Wonderful! So glad to have you here. I will have one more Quick Christmas project starting very early November. Please join me for that one as well. We have many projects in our playlists!
Thanks for the encouragement and suggestions about placing the colors and designing the project. Lots of excellent info for me to absorb and put into practice on my future projects.
Glad it was helpful. I am currently working on an EPP project called "Springburst!" It's a design as you go. You can see all the episodes on the playlist. I plan to do an EPP project on the Lucy Boston design in 2025.
Thanks for the tip of adding the square to each corner before continuing. I have a bunch of honeycomb shapes I was going ot use for Lucy Boston type but prefer your design as I do not like the colors I chose for the Lucy blocks. Thanks for the inspiration. I am really enjoying your videos, although I am watching them out of the original order you uploaded them. Very enjoyable and very informative.
I agree. If you're feeling like you don't like it, pivot and use those pieces another way. You can always come back and do the Lucy Boston with me in 2025.
Thank you for a very detailed explanation of the whip and flat back stitches.
You are so welcome! I am planning to cover more techniques and tips in these short videos in 2025. There's always someone working on their first project and the vocabulary around any kind of craft or trade can be very confusing.
Count me in for the 2025 project!! I will definitely be following and joining in on the Lucy Boston project!
😱😱😱😱 Lucy Boston!!! I love those blocks! So many different ways to piece or fussy cut them and the color of fabric can make an enormous difference in how the block turns out!!! Please do a video on how you go about choosing your colors. I have purchased a ton of honeycomb paper pieces and have sewn basted some pieces (my favorite way too! - Glue is too messy and not as relaxing). I am stuck on how to arrange the pieces and colors as nothing I choose looks like in my head the way I think it should. 🤣. I have a really hard time choosing my fabrics. Not really good at mix and matching colors or patterns. I also have worked a little bit of fussy cutting with tiny hexies for practice. I am a beginner sewer and EPPer. EPP is so much fun and addictive. Just finishing 3 christmas stockings made from hexies.
WOW! That's great for a beginning EPPer. I haven't selected fabrics for Lucy Boston yet.
Thanks for another great video on EPP design. I love your thought process and appreciate the inspiration on how to make an EPP design. I usually follow a pattern and I have been leaning towards making my own design with whatever EPP shape I want. I have been working with the House piece (4 make a Plus sign +). I have a bunch of flannel and am in the process of designing how I want to use it and choose my colors. Thanks so much!
Just make sure you prewash that flannel as flannel can shrink a good bit when washed and dried.
I just found your website and I love your tutorials on EPP!! I look forward to following you and your upcoming videos!! Thanks for all the very informative videos
Thanks again.
I’d love to purchase the same fabrics you’re using, would you care to share the fabric names?♥♥♥
For this particular project, all the fabrics came from Hobby Lobby. I used Kona white for the background fabric. "Side Stripe Red" for the sashing 1800788. "Greenery Tiny Dot" is the green 1567544. "Red/White Dot" is the binding and berries (four patch) 914952. The center dot on each block is "Tonal Starburst" 1824622. The fabrics range from $5.99 to $7.99 per yard. The Kona is $9.99 per yard. The stripe fabric is part of the Christmas fabrics. I found the Tonal Starburst in the regular fabric section but it could have been misplaced. I believe the red and green dot fabrics are available most of the year. I did not capture a picture of the backing fabric (red and green dot on white) but it was part of their holiday collection as well. Thank you for you interest AND watching the video. I have two more episodes coming and will reveal the finished project soon. I love it!
@@shamrockquiltstudio Thank you so very much, your fabric selection is PERFECT!♥♥♥
Wow, i didnt know that you had to clean that part.
I try to clean my bobbin area each time I start a new project or if I'm having any problems with sewing. Remember not to "blow" the area with canned air as it will only move the dust further into the machinery. Good Luck!
You’re right about the colors being a little “grinchy”! 😂 Really liking this!
Thanks for watching. I'm just editing the last two videos now but I absolutely LOVE how it turned out.
thx
You're very welcome. Thank you for watching the videos!
Of course they are all Lori Holt fabrics. They are her designs so they would be her Bee in her Bonnet Christmas fabrics. Or maybe Home Town Holiday. But if you found Lori Holt fabrics you would have gottenthe color to match.😊
You're right! I do not have convenient access to an actual quilt store, so I just do the best I can.
