    I wish I knew that tip about the long passage. I just took the N2 a few days ago and I think I had the opposite problem you had since I started on the reading section and took more time than I would on mock exams (Probably due to sheer nervousness) so I had to guess on quite a bit of the last two sections of the grammar portion due to time constraints. I’m fairly confident I did well on the listening, assuming I didn’t horribly misunderstand what they were saying/made a ton of careless mistakes. But man waiting these next few months for my results will be excruciating. I’m just going to assume that I failed to soften the blow assuming I did, and feel even more happy if I passed.

    Ok I really need you to reply! So I am an IB student and I an IB diploma helps a lot with entering a university , so as you know the IB system if pretty expensive so i pay a lot for school and I want a free university, but there isn't many free ones, so I wanted to ask if IB diploma is any help on entering for free

    • @SakanaHime
      @SakanaHime 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Willow. I was not an IB student in high school, so I’m not sure if I can answer your question. Unfortunately both Japan/US do not have “free” universities. Because I was on an exchange program, I still had to pay the cost of my home university ($15-20,000 USD). Luckily I had scholarships, so it was technically free for me. I would recommend you Google universities in Japan that accept your IB diploma, and then see if they offer scholarships. Good luck!

      Not going to lie, it was pretty brutal haha. I've been studying Japanese for about 3-4 years formally through my uni when I took N2, but I went to a program that focused entirely on speaking Japanese rather than learning it. I had to really force myself to study a little bit of kanji everyday!

  • @tkdnatalie1689
    @tkdnatalie1689 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Clicked on this video to learn stuff about studying abroad, and to my surprise you went to OSU, which is where I most likely will go (due to the fact that I live in Ohio LOL), and I want to major in Japanese there . I graduated as a Junior this year, so I have been using my "senior year" to really figure out what i want to do, and recently I have been learning Japanese on my own, and never realized I could go to college for it, so it was really great motivation for me to actually get enrolled into college, and actually enjoy what I want to major in. Studying abroad is my dream, or even living in Japan for an extended period of time. This video helped a lot, thank you so much!

    • @SakanaHime
      @SakanaHime 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a very very delayed response, but reading your comment made my day! The japanese program at OSU has both pros and cons. A pro was I was very comfortable with daily conversations after 1-2 years of taking my major classes. A con is that the classes definitely focused on speaking, rather than reading, so whenever I took a placement test to my study abroad university, I struggled a bit with kanji. If you do decide to go to osu, definitely try to study kanji/writing outside of class! Besides that though, it is a fantastic program :) Regarding figuring out what you want to do, I always recommend that if you have an interest in japanese, consider minoring in it or double majoring (which is what I did). Speaking multiple Languages definitely looks great for future jobs! Best of luck with everything 🥰

      It's been a while, but I don't think we had to take specifically the EJU at my study abroad uni. We did, however, have a placement exam to see what level we would go into for classes and I tested around the upper-middle level after a few years of studying.

  • @SakanaHime
    @SakanaHime 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Everyone! Thanks for watching this video! For the DOKKAI (Listening) section here is a detailed list of what I did to prepare: 1. Read the questions first 2. Circle any key phrases or words for the introductory and conclusion paragraph that you think could relate to the questions. 3. For the paragraphs in between, I would quickly skim (concentrating on the first and last sentences for each one). The reason why I do this is because it’ll usually say “でも” or “しかし” which points to a contrasting view from what the author ACTUALLY thinks, and can mess up a student from answering the right question. A majority of the questions will ask you “What is the the OVERALL message that the author wants to convey?”, so don’t be too distracted by the small details. I hope this was helpful and good luck with the JLPT!! Ganbatte!!! Good luck!
