My granny was a shorthand typist at the time in the city...strange to think she could have been in this video as it featured office workers.

Sad that virtually everybody in this film, barring possibly the youngest of children, are no longer with us. So much of this film is familiar to me, and lots still remains. A testament to the craftsmen of yesteryear that didn't just throw up buildings that would need to be demolished forty years down the road.

Brilliant video. I rode those ferries so many times in the 70’s and 80’s. My parents moved to the Wirral but both sets of grandparents and aunties and uncles lived in Liverpool. Late 80’s I worked in an office by the Liver Birds and then in the Barclays Bank head office in Water Street. ❤

This was the Liverpool of my Gran/Grandad and my Mum and Aunts. Brilliant to see. Gran was a Domestic in a "posh" house in Formby and Grandad was a Coal Heaver on the docks according to the 1921 census.

Be great to have a drama around this period of Liverpool. Could look at problems the city had in terms of social issues affecting the poorest and contrasting it with prosperity that the elite still had.

Even up until the 80s, the ferry boats were packed. You'd have two to each ferry terminal. You'd be getting on at Liverpool whilst one is docking in Seacombe and Birkenhead during peak hours. Times change and now people get the bus, train or drive.
