Monte carlo ls 3.4, i cant think of a better everyday driver. Parts are low cost and repairs are easy as shit. Imbuilding a turbo 3.4 with a cam made to get more torque (and build torque faster). I can hit 100 pretty easy going uphill in my 3.4 monte. But i run a ceramic lubricant by stp in my oil and 89 octane. I have a high flow catalytic converter and high flow muffler. Removed u bend in exhaust too. I decided not to do a cat delete, a catalytic converter especially high flow cat really doesnt rob engine of any power unless its a turbo engine or a very high performance v8. Not to mention it is important to keep emissions low fir better air quality, nothing to do with climate change as that is controlled by evil people that rule the world artificially.

3400 engine crap. Defective gaskets causing motors to blow. Gm was sued in Canada and the states. Passlock and body control modules faulty, if you were lucky you didn't have these issues. Being stranded having to reset the bcm by turning the ignition to the on position for 20 minutes or an hour. Gm really screwed up with the two above issues. I owned one, never again.

i own a 04 monte ls and for it to be only a 3400 v6 pulls decent and highway only thing to complain about is gas mileage says 21mpg city but feels like i only get 16 thru 17mpg other than than very decent car for the generation

your catalytic converter light is on, did you ever get that fixed?

Appreciate your effort. One advice is to go SLOW. Zoom out too. I had to stop at 3 mins because too much moving gave me a headache.

How do you start her up from outside?

The 03 3800 v6 motor pulls decent and can get the car to 130mph - I mentioned only cuz someone commented it’s a slow car . Granted it’s not a v8 And only has a 200hp rating but how many people buy cars to drive over 100 daily ? Not me I bought my 03 Monte Carlo SS for the looks and body style of these cars. They are comfy cruisers and sharp looking cars. Fully loaded heated front seats. On star. Good sound system for stock. They don’t make big 2door coupes like these anymore. Personally a favorite of mine

Also I should add, just because the speedometer says 140 doesn't mean its the top speed. Certain years in the 80s had to have an 85mph speedometer by law, and there are plenty of others that will go above the highest shown number and plenty of cars that won't make it that high. Im pretty sure that car is limited at about 112mph actually. My 06 has a 140mph speedometer but has a limiter at 113mph, and I have had others that were also limited at a lower speed. Have also had a few that would go above the highest number shown on the speedometer. On top of that, the features in these cars arent advanced. Even for 2004 they were behind other brands. I had a 1990 car that had everything these cars have and more. I actually had fully automatic climate control where you set it to 68 degrees and it would automatically open and close vents to keep the temperature the same. Also had heated mirrors, power seats, power windows and locks, power mirrors, flip up headlight covers, etc. The only thing it didn't have was cd player and traction control, which cd players were still pretty new at the time and traction control im pretty sure wasn't out until the mid 90s.

Don't expect to win many races in it. The only quick ones were the supercharged SS from 04-05, the 3.9L in only 2006, and the 5.3L SS in 06-07. I had an 03 SS and honestly it was pretty slow. I currently have an 06 3.9L and its decent but no speed demon.
