Day 2 of the 2023 Police Unity Tour had us riding from Atlantic City NJ to Rehoboth Beach DE. We took the Cape May ferry from Cape May NJ to Lewes DE. I caught 2 flats this day which cut into my mileage. Thankfully the great team at Hart's Cyclery was able to get me going again so I could still finish the day. #policeunitytour

Day 3 had us starting in Rehoboth Beach DE and ending in Annapolis MD. I didn't have any flats this day, however I suffered a few broken spokes throughout the day. Once again, Hart's Cyclery came in clutch and got me to the end of the day. #policeunitytour

Sandwiches and Scenic Overlook Group Ride 4K
Omg how funny on the climb at the beginning 😂 did someone shout something about Miami at 5:37?
Would you ride this bike on a group ride?
I've ridden it in a group ride before. It's more than capable. Depending on the type of ride, the gearing could be a limiting factor though.
Nice
Very nice😊 so good to get to hang out with you again, brother
It was great to see you too Bart. That steak dinner is on the agenda for next time!
6doorseventy4! amazing recording. later~🙂
Thanks for sharing this great recap vid!!
By any chance do you have the break down of miles per day with elevation? Or a strava link?
Day 1 was approximately 95 miles, day 2 55 miles, day 3 80 miles, and day 4 was approximately 35 miles. Depending on what chapter you ride with, those numbers will vary because the routes will vary. I say approximately because depending on what hotel you're assigned to, the ride there may be more or less miles. I also lost a few miles when I caught a flat and ended up in the mechanic truck. After fixing the flat, they drop you off back in the peloton. if others end up needing a repair in that time, you may end up in the truck a little longer as they wait for a safe place to drive up towards the front and drop everyone off.
A quick question, do the majority of the riders prefer SPD, or SPD-SL pedals?
I'd say most people are on SPD-SL or Look Keo ( which I wear). There are some people with flat pedals and some who wear SPD or other clipless styles. It's really personal preference and what they use outside of the tour, or, what was sold to them when they got their bike. In the Unity Tour, none of them offer any real advantages over the other.
Do the riders ride with their chapter, or is everyone spread out? TIA
Riders start out at the starting location with their respective chapter. Some chapters start at the same location. For example, I ride with chapter 10 which is central new Jersey. Chapter 13, which is from North California, also rides with chapter 10. So they start at the same location. At different points along the route, some chapters merge and continue on the same route towards Washington DC. In the peloton itself, people ride with whoever ends up being next to them. Sometimes ability dictates that and other times it's the friends you make along the way. It's fully escorted so nobody gets left behind. Worst case scenario, a rider will end up in the SAG if they're unable to keep up with the peloton.
@@6doorseventy4 Thanks so much!! I'm looking at 2025, I'd be in Chapter 13! Hope to see you there, if my old body holds out!
@@hikeride7520that's great. I will see you in 2025! Keep up the good work
Cool video, we all had a great time! Thanks for posting!
No problem. It was a great time for sure. Thanks for watching!
Nice ride sir
Thank you. A great time as always. Looking forward to 2024
Looks like a really great turnout!
Thank you. This is just 1 chapter which I believe was approximately 300 riders. By the time we got to DC, we met with all the other chapters that started in different locations. In total, I think there was over 1500 riders. Not to mention all the different motor officers from across the country.
Slow ride baby!
Great intel…
Thank you. I'm glad you found it helpful
Great Video!
i was working at rest stop #2, thank you for the post. my pleasure to make ride great.
Thanks for everything. I'm looking forward to making this an annual trip.
Cool video 👍🏽 Which 360 camera are you using?
Thank you. It's the insta360 One RS
Hey Brother! Good meeting you and thanks for the shout out. Keep the content coming👍🏾
It was great meeting you too brother! Your channel has been a great resource and your One Love videos helped solidify my desire to make it this year. There are plenty of people who would benefit from all the content in your channel. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the encouragement.
I have a gerbing liner that broke a wire. I called them and they fixed it 2 years after i bought it. Free. Good deal.
Great customer service by Gerbing. Ride safe
Great video! I like the Relive vid to show the route at beginning too. 360 camera captures everything. Nice!!!
Thanks man! I love the 360 camera. Moving it to different places gives you a lot of options when editing.
Those seats look painful!
Aerodynamic! Padded shorts (and correct fit) for the win 😂
You have to wear padded cycling shorts or bibs. Believe it or not, you buy a seat that's anatomically correct for your body type. They look painful, but they're not, as long as you buy the proper saddle that fits you.
Lookin Good!
Thanks Bart!
Thank you for all you do
It's my pleasure! Thank you for watching and sorry for the late reply

This is so cool man I very rarely get to see this viewpoint usually I'm recording you guy zipping by everyone. Great job Mario!
Thanks Brad! That's why I like recording the videos on some of the escorts. People get to see some of what we do and experience it with us. Especially big events like this.
Great Video! We hope you enjoyed the event and post-ride party!
How do you like the bike? I’m a beginner and eyeing this bike for casual road biking.
I love it. I actually just rode it from NJ to Washington DC. It will suit that purpose for sure.
Nice Monty!!!
Thanks Brad!
Awesome
Thanks Andy!
Congratulations brother!
Thank you Cue!
Good job brother! Impressive😀
Thank you Bart!
Wow!
Hey Bart, That was a good ride that day. I'll be riding from NJ to DC in May for the Police Unity Tour. These days help prepare me for those long days of riding.
@@6doorseventy4 when I see something like that makes me realize how really bad out of shape I am😂
Don't worry. When I ride with certain people they make me realize I'm not in the shape I thought I was anyway 🤣
@@6doorseventy4 hey I was talking with Andy and he said he thought you were only gonna get to come one day to run to the Hills if so, which day would that be? Hope you get to come for all of it. Looking forward to hanging out with you.

Nice review
Thanks man. I see you got a set. Enjoy, it's a game changer.
@@6doorseventy4 big time game changer…. I can’t wait till the morning to test it out again…
What was the temperature?
Warmer than the Ohio State game. Mid 40's to 50's from start of day to finish.
Looks fun I may have to take a ride up and try cone camp
It's definitely worth it. I haven't been back yet but it was definitely a good time. I'm sure it's gotten better and bigger too as more people find out about it. Lots of preloaders participate as well.
Great job!
Hey Mario, looks like y'all had great weather. I hate I couldn't make it, but had other plans prior to the announcement. Thanks for posting, at least i was able to enjoy some of the ride vituraly. Haop all it well with you my friend.
We definitely had great weather. Much better than what was happening back home. Sunday was nice too but much cooler. Either way I'm glad the rain came and went. Sorry you couldn't make it but if it was because of that Disney trip, then completely understandable! I've been wanting to take that trip myself. All is well here, hope all is well with you too. See you on the next one
Great video Mario, sure wish I could’ve been there looks like y’all had a great time. My daughter was hosting an equestrian event and I needed to help her🐴😊🏍
Thanks Bart! It was a great time. We'll see you on the next one
Hey Mario. Good ride. I use to ride my road bike 30 miles everyday. That was 100 pounds ago. Need to get back to it.
Wow! That's a nice workout. I try to get in at least 15 miles a couple times a week. Lately I've been bumping it up to 20 but time is an issue sometimes. Thankfully I have a smart trainer at home that I use with Zwift so I can use that and still get the benefit of elevation as it adjusts the resistance to simulate the hills. On bad weather days and short on time days, it helps and it can be really tough depending on the course I pick.
@@6doorseventy4 Yep. That was over 10 years ago. Before I got a motorcycle. I really enjoyed my bicycle riding. Keep me in great shape.
You are hardcore!!!! Respect bro!!! ✊🏾✊🏾 that’s three centurion rides in one day!!! Wow
Wow! What a great thing! Wish there was something like that up here in NY Tri-State area. I do Bikes and Breakfast In Palisades NY. You can see me there on website, or make the trip next spring! GoldwingMikeNY. 😀😎👍✌️🇺🇸
All you need is a few people with the same interest in working on those skills. Check out Robert Simmons's youtube channel and join his Facebook group. You will likely find people in your area who would want to get together and practice. I've seen you on John's channel at B&B Palisades. There's a couple more i plan to go to, NY included.

It's an honor and my pleasure to do it. Thank you and yes, forever blue.
Awesome man good luck and have a safe ride. I did a hundred mile trip when I was younger with two friends we went from Philadelphia to Harrisburg PA. Let's just say one time was enough for me lol!
Thanks man. And thank you very much for your support! That must have been a fun ride and great experience. Once may be enough but you can say you did it! After my 26 miles a few weeks ago, I realized that a new seat is priority#1 😆
@@6doorseventy4 yeah it was fun. And your right the seat is a must I used to use some padded riding undergarments too that helped a little bit.
@@NoVaSlowSpeed i got some padded bike shorts. The first couple of rides were really painful and I was about to buy some. Then I remembered I had a pair.
