Beau drapeau j'aime bien où il lès à acheté
Im not a bad trimmer, but still, i learned a lot.
Amazing video packed with info I want to use. What do I do in light to moderate air when the clew wants to drift past the head stay?
Any thoughts on when the clew drifts past the headstay...often in moderate air? Is that fast? Or would it be better to trim in to keep it from going that far?
Well done ✌️ 🇺🇸 🇦🇺
Only 3 comments here- a sad commentary as to the worlds lack of appreciation for female accomplishments. That said... in that using a hacksaw wasn't her 1st thought, its also a sad statement. Cable cutter/ hacksaw/ = good proper training preparation..yet maybe the long history of sexism somehow intervened & blocked that otherwise ' I got this ' moment. Yet it should of been a standard procedure in training..& its odd that point isn't pressed by the interviewer.
I have some vintage naval flags that I would like assistance with identifying and valuing
I have seen various websites/ logs that encourage a sailor to ease the pole forward to move the spinnaker a little to leeward to avoid an accidental gybe, the idea being to reduce the pressure pulling the boat around on the windward side. Any comment about that? The constant message in this webinar seemed to be to keep the pole aft. I saw some pictures in the webinar of boats with the pole back and the spinnaker substantially over on the windward side and the boat heeling to windward and frankly they scared me!!
A fantastic presentation, clear explanations and great visuals. Thanks for posting!

where can we get the simulator?
Pretty sure it's north sails trim simulator, it's about 10$
The apple and android apps appear to be gone. I downloaded the pc version (free) from the north sails website, downloads section.
My father (Paul howard) sadly passed away last October. He had just come back from sailing round Greece 🇬🇷. Thanks to the person who posted this ❤
i use esail simulator with sandbox testing all wave heights and wind speeds
Hi JT. I am very happy to discover your presentation. In 1988 I was sailing on Anaconda ll in the sail back race from Hobart to Sydney for the bicentanials that I could also attend as crew member during the festivities. I staied then on the yacht at CYCA, helped Josko to repair the spinaker and other things and sailed her back to Adelaide. As you imitated Josko talking to you, I thought I was right back on the Yacht again. Thank you for giving me these emotions and I wish you a happy New Year. Rémy (called Brandy) from Switzerland.
How do things differ when you have a square-top mainsail?
Got it! Move the pole further aft than you think, but not too far aft 👍 no but actually great and informative video
This is fantastic. I have shared this with my crew. Thank you.
I wish I could understand your English. Otherwise, it looks like a professional presentation.
Leave it to a bunch of Aussies to teach me to sail and guess what......I learned the finer points of sail! Congrats, this is a GREAT VIDEO! YA'LL SHOULD GET AN AWARD FOR IT!
Comprehensive!!! Thank you 🙏🏻
Helms person, man, woman, driver. Make up your mind! Or why not call it a spade like they did the last thousand years Also tack line? You don’t call it a sheet line right
What is the ideal heel angle to try and keep in light wind going downwind ~140?
Is the simulator available somewhere on the Web?
16:10 what is depth
Where can I find part one of this lecture?
Thanks for sharing. Good clear review. Cheers,
What a great video! Thanks RSYS for publishing this
Absolutely NO live footage of someone traversing aroung Antarctica 🥱
Hello! I want to make subtitles to this video for my language. Can you give the permission?
Hello, would it be possible to get the slideshow of this presentation? Thanks! Awesome work
Great diagrams, thank you!
Hi, great informative video. I have just helped sail a new Jeaneau 60 up the coast to Cairns. I have sailed many years on a J35 and understand the setup for that type of boat but as the Jeaneau has an in mast furling main & a set backstay, many of your tuning points can not be done such as traveller, backstay & Cunningham. As the owner would like to race the boat up north, how would we apply the changes to still get the best out of the boat.
Hi, do these tips apply when sailing under gennaker? Thanks
Lisa Blair 4 Prime Minister
Departing today to Antartic. Von voyage♡♡
So nice to have the information available
These are a great resource. Thanks to North Sails and RSYS for this outstanding effort. Frank Mocek, MD Dallas, TX
I've noticed nobody in this video releases the outhaul, even in light air. The clews are all the way to the mark on the boom. Is this new thinking?
I think easing the outhaul when turning down wind is best practice just like tightening the vang. I think some teams have a perception that it is not worth enough on short W-L courses to always take the time.
9:40
@@danstanford3071 I agree completely, and I even have the outhaul on a winch, but look at the black stripes on the boom, their outhaul is tight as a drum.
many years ago I complete the North U sails course - both trim and fast - you guys have improved on that - really well done
Thank you so much North Sails and Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron - these recordings of your Zoom sessions are just fabulous! I have learnt so much and they are really engaging. North Sails simulator is really helpful. RQYS Brisbane
when you refer to wind angle is that true or apparent? It isn't defined in the video.
Thank you Andrew very good all the boats here are racing boats. Is there an advantage in putting a sprit on my boat Oceania 43 ?
Nice video....the same principles apply to the small boat sailing in radio sailing
Fantastic presentation. Thank you for making this available on TH-cam!
less than 200 likes? There is an incredible amount of very valuable information here! The aussie accent is not easy for me, but what a great video!
After one year Likes arrived only to 330. This deserves much more than that.
Question: At 13:31 the blue boat looks to be clear ahead drawing a line from the blue boat's transom it is ahead of the yellow boat, wouldn't this mean that the blue boat does not have to give the yellow boat room?
I agree, and also, if there is doubt as to whether an overlap was established, then surely the big boat does not gain row...no?
Salinaties do change water temprature
Starts at 5:40
Shocking this video series doesn't have higher exposure. Really good content, thanks guys.
Hi Andrew very very great and informative webinar thank you very much! Some questions, can you share any diagrams or talk more on mask bend with a mast head set up with a running back and Check stays as you show in the video. if I hold the top 2/3 of the mask with the running and checks days do I just bend the upper third of the mast? I have seen diagrams where they show the mask bowed out in the center to flatten the sail? Second question, in higher winds maybe 20 kt apparent, you mentioned not to lower the traveler a lot and to put on a lot of main sheet at this well just make you heal over more. You should keep the traveler closer to centerline and sheet out the main to twist the sail at the top to dump the air and sail with the lower portion of the leech. Would you elaborate on that a bit? This clarification will help me sail my Farr33 more effectively especially as I mostly solo sail.
