Isle of Muck - Paddling with seals
THE ISLE OF MUCK COACHING COURSE - SCOTLAND
Muck is a small and remote island on the west coast of Scotland and was the venue for our Scotland Coaching trip. Muck together with its neighbours, Eigg, Rum and Canna, form the Small Isles. Getting there is a 2 hour ferry from Mallaig on the mainland - quite an adventure.
The island is two miles long by one mile wide with a population of 38 people.
Our aim was to provide an enjoyable wilderness sea kayaking trip and guide paddlers to gain essential kayak skills on moving water, rescue skills, planning navigation and judgement skills.
There were opportunities to explore the small and sheltered island of Muck in a relaxed and fun way, with flexible time off to enjoy the culture of remote island life.
Whilst we could not control the weather, we made the very best of whatever was thrown at us.
Thanks to the residents of Muck for their generous hospitality.
Thanks also to Simon for allowing me to include his amazing watercolours. He can be contacted at: simonsjungle.co.uk/

Kayaking to meet Old Harry

Kayaking to see the Old Harry Rocks is an amazing trip. Huge white cliffs towering above, with walkers standing at the top regard our travels with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans to join us. A great tour for beginner and intromediate paddlers, but the area offers fun for intermediate paddlers too when the conditions build. Studland Bay is remarkably shallow too, so a great ...

It was August. Should be uploading the Sept Skye trip in the next couple of days.. count me in for Red Sands Forts
@@wavesoffun excellent.. I'll make a plan 👍
Love the clear water drone footage at the beginning and the jellyfish shots, beautifully filmed. I must confess I'd not heard of the Isle of Muck. Great vlog, all the best, Andy 👍
Cheers Andy, it's a beautiful island - hoping for better weather next year though! Have you started exploring the Scottish coastline yet?
Increíble la foca se pasó a saludar, buena aventura 👍
It was fantastic - so many seals swimming alongside us.. they all wanted to play and say hello
Great video that 👍 was intending on getting out to the small isles myself this year but opportunity and fair weather never coincided 🤷♂️
Cheers, really appreciate it coming from you. It's a great area to paddle... fair weather was sadly missing though!
@@wavesoffun keep em coming, they are great 👌

The seas of Anglesey, with their fantastic natural scenery, are even more beautiful with wonderful people. always Good luck my faraway friend !.
Thank you so much! There is so much variety on the Welsh coast - you should come join us sometime!
I've looked at this video several times, because it.s not only a beuatiful nature and a joining group, but because of motivating me to start this adventure! I.ve been on wildwater for >30 years and turning now to sea kayaking. Tomorrow I get my boat in Hamburg and join a club for a course in the Netherlands North Sea. I.m a bit scary, but more as a kid before christmas. I wish your group many more nice hours and days on the waters! Kind regards, Henry (Germ.)
Ah, such kind words - thank you! Let me know if you ever head over to the UK. We have quite an international group who meet up and paddle on Anglesey. Best wishes
Great video - good to see everyone having a great time out on the sea!!

Gorgeous spot. Had to lookup on maps to see where. Cool.
Thanks for checking it out... the launch point is beautiful and down a little single track road - always fun to meet someone coming the other way!

Very nice one.. I'd like to tick that box. No mention of tortellini? Strange
So fancy getting a small team for a go at it this summer? Then you can lead us round the Isle of Wight too.
Best not to discuss your weird eating habits when paddling!
@@wavesoffun yep.. let's do that
This is on my bucket list Iv only been two times done most of the north end church bay round to puffin island and down the mouth of the meni but I’m now desperate to do the full circumnavigation hopefully this summer
I love the north coast - never tire of it. Will you be doing it in one push or over several days? I really should get to the Isle of Man at some point.. looks amazing

Another great video, Ian! New boat?
Cheers... You fancy an Anglesey trip soon? Be great to catch up
Hi Ian. Yep..how about spring time? Remember Tony from our Slate Isles trip..he needs to pick up a new Romany in spring too..
Hi Ian, We met at Llyn Padarn over a year ago now. We have just moved up to Manchester from London, so looking forward to getting out to Anglesey on a settled day. I would like to get out to the old brickworks at Cemaes Bay as soon as we can. It would be great to have a paddle with you and gang out there on perhaps a shorter trip?! Enjoyed your documentation of this paddle. Cheers, Adrian
Sounds good. The Brickworks is an amazing adventure... I prefer heading there from Bull Bay as fantastic seeing the Brickworks catch the sunlight from the opposite side of the bay. Drop me an email and we can sort something out... We have a few courses arranged already for the summer season
@@wavesoffun Thanks Ian, I will check out that recommendation of Bull Bay. I will send you an email and try to get on one of your courses over the summer.
