looks nice, professional... but water tends to seep between the steel rim and granite... . silicone sealant alone while glueing steel to granite may not seal micro gaps between both. And therefore need to have a 'gap filling material' along the entire rim, like a rubber seal. ribber seal is not an elegant dolution and also needs a clamp like device to tighten the grip.. better to allow gravity and weight of sink to do it... by using a epoxy strip tape along rim on bottom of sink. Seating the basin and pressing down, and neatly removing the excess material that squishes out at edges.

I think it should be clean first then caulk

I had a company install "wet walls". They only sent one worker instead of two. The sloppy silicone job ruined the whole look, plus its now peeling. When they put in a new black drain, the area is now all chewed up. They are suppose to be coming out for the second time to "take a look" after I sent pictures. If you cannot send the right amount of workers, then reschedule. I would have waited until 2 were available, rather than have this happen. He installed a huge black framed glass door, and punctured my LVT that is 1 year old. If 2 workers were on, it would not have happened. Nobody takes time to silicone or caulk properly, uniform and neat. It's the final step and it matters.

Does the "membrane tape" extend down past the surround panel? Do you trim it with a knife? Can you use silicone here, instead?

No trowel? My instructions said to spread the adhesive with a toothed trowel for thin, even coverage

Where can a person purchase this? It is not on your site? The one there is does not look like this with square tile configuration. Plus the back sheet in your site is one piece and here it is 2 piece. You have 3 pieces tub surround there and 4 pieces here.
