The only problem was we didn’t document any of it. Well, now we are so that we can share how much of an amazing place the world really is! Chinatown in LA is not what we expected!
Hello and thank you for clicking on our video! If you're new here, we're Kiersten and Tyler. We like to call ourselves full-time adventurers and have spent much of our free time the last 12 years traveling all over the world. Unfortunately, we never thought to document our travels. That is until now! From here on out, every Saturday we will be taking you guys on a new adventure! So, make sure to subscribe so you don't miss out on any of the fun.
In this video we take you to Chinatown in downtown Los Angeles, or should I say New Chinatown. The original was demolished in the late 19th century to make room for Union Station, the cities major ground transportation center. In 1938 New Chinatown was built and has been the home to notable people such as, Bruce Lee. Bruce lee resided in Chinatown in the sixties where he also opened a martial arts studio. Pretty cool!

A lot of chinese restaurants and businesses have moved east towards the suburbs. If you guys want to experience that, look at visiting Valley Blvd. between Alhambra and Rosemead. Also Garvey ave between Monterey Park and Rosemead. It is a sprawl, so if you have limited time here's my visits: San Gabriel Square Time Square Monterey Park TS Emporium (either in Monterey Park or Temple City) for sundries, gifts, etc. Andrew Zimmern has done a bizarre foods ep although I think some of those restaurants have closed down during covid. Mike Chen Also has done a few videos of the area as well.
I've been living in Los Angeles for almost 20 years now and only gone to Chinatown a couple of times, a lot when I first moved here. I have not gone back since so its nice to see what it looks like now
