Thanks for visiting my channel! I’m a US Army Veteran. I served as a welder/ metal worker and decided to use the skills I learned in the Army to make a living. I provide welding, fabrication, and Blacksmithing services. I also do Blacksmithing demonstrations and classes. I hope you’ll join me in my TH-cam Journey forging in the backwoods of mid Missouri! Forge on my friends!

Making a Blacksmiths Knife pt.1
มุมมอง 31ปีที่แล้ว
Today I’m making a Blacksmiths Knife for a customer order this is part one, The rough forging! www.albrechtmetalworks.com
Rock ouuuuuttt !
Had I thought about the camera I would'a cleaned the shop, sucked in my gut, stood up straight, wiped the coal smut from my face, and pulled up my pants. Consider NOT watching, because really graceful bending over exposes an old man's underwear elastic but, thank God, no butt crack.😂
😂 it’s all good Doc that just proves nothing is staged or scripted 😂
Good job.
Thanks!!!
@@Amw1911 added an electric blower to that forge?
Nope that’s a new forge that Scott bought from centaur forge and came with an electric blower but the attenuator didn’t work so we put a dimmer switch on it. We’re doing Forge Friday this week and we’re planning on live streaming part of it at that forging station hope to see you there
Haven’t herad Metallica in a while thanks for the memories flash back 😂😂
I remember listening to it when it came out
Just like on forged in fire!
yes but they use the next model down that doesn't have the side door!
Look who I stumbled onto!
Very nice!
Thanks! Forge on my friend!!!
Interesting song choice? Takes me back to high school
Thanks to Scott from Birdno Forge Works for letting me use his press at his shop!!!
What a fine treadle hammer. Frying pans?
It’s a great treadle hammer. This was filmed in my friend Scott’s shop he ordered it from blacksmith supply online and we drove down to south east Missouri to pick it up to save on freight shipping and it hits like a freight train
Great content; but Free Bird? Really?
I just randomly clicked on it while making this short! Lol
Hell yeah
Fuckin A
16g might shape a little better to fit the skillet the 1/8” didn’t take the contour shape as easily, the possibilities are nearly endless!
How an ashtray is born
My friend and I host forge Friday in his shop where this was filmed and we did forge ashtrays a couple of weeks ago as our Friday challenge and he was filming this for me. The first thing he said was wow that makes a nice ashtray! Lol!!!
Looks like a great Kief press 👀
This is so cool
Thanks!
I have no idea what he's doing but it looks awesome.
I made a skillet die set for Corporals Corner and did these shorts to show him that it works so he can speed up making bushcraft skillets for his TH-cam subscribers
I like that
Everyone does
I need one of those
That one is from www.blacksmithsupply.com and it’s a dream to use and lots of potential for dies of all sorts
Fittings are standard 3/8” right?
Yes
Nice, I Don't Have Half of Those Tools, my Swage Block Sucks, I have considered getting a stump but never thought of a 4x4, I have a lot of those. Looks like it will be faster that way, Thanks
That’s part of why I showed that along with the swage block ($60 @ holland anvil’s website) and the cutoff hardie that I used was a skid steer bucket tooth welded to a 1” square bar but my personal one is made out of a knuckle from the end of a sucker rod or you can use a flat masonry chisel also and the twisting wrench is an antique adjustable wrench that we welded a handle onto. I have another wrench that I’m planning on making into another one. Unfortunately my shop is currently a mess and I sat it down somewhere and can’t find it but as soon as I do I’ll post another video. I might just have to make a video series on “Need a tool make a tool”
am looking for a fly press and someone to make me the tooling for a skillet, i can just press the thing and be done, any thoughts on this?
@@recall5811 there’s always homemade options that are cheaper but not as effective as a specialized machine but I’ve had great success with most of my shop made tools I’m sure we can brainstorm an affordable solution to that problem. My business email is troy@albrechtmetalworks.com if you want to converse privately instead of in a public forum or Albrecht Metal Works llc on Facebook I have several friends in the blacksmith community that we can lean on. I believe that a basic form can be forged out of heavier material and a simple leverage press would work as long as the metal that you’re forming is hot
I’m curious what your 6 month review of this is? I’m currently looking at Majestic and am not sure which one to buy
I love it and its metal parts even survived a 45 mph tumble down the road on the way to a local festival it only needed re-lined. I had forgotten that it wasn’t permanently attached to the stand that I fabricated for it and I hit a bump and off it went. I’m sold for life on Majestic Forges after that!!! I’m planning on posting a video about that soon but I’ve been busy with a death in the family followed by festival season and I’m still learning to be a TH-camr
Sorry I just realized that I responded on my basic account the response from Chops1911 is me
That’s so cool. Awesome video!
Thanks!!!
