BEST BEACH in KOH SAMUI for families: Maenam Beach (NO CROWDS)
Crystal clear water, white sand. One of our favorite beaches in Thailand. Meanam Beach in Koh Samui. Especially with kids. The sea is really calm. The atmosphere is relaxed. We found nice beach bars. And it wasn't crowded at all, yet we found everything we needed.
The beaches of Chaweng and Lamai on the east coast tend to have more big waves, which we didn't like with a toddler. Maenam was perfect. The shallow clear blue water was great to walk in with Mia. The temperature of the ocean was very nice.

📍 Maenam Beach: maps.app.goo.gl/zKoGb2jdtimLwoi49
Maenam Beach is really one of the best beaches for families in Koh Samui! Known for its calm, crystal-clear waters and soft white sand, this beautiful beach on Thailand’s Gulf Coast is a hidden gem. Great for everyone looking for a relaxed, family-friendly vibe. Unlike the busier beaches of Chaweng and Lamai, Maenam Beach offers a peaceful setting where kids can safely play in the shallow waters (ofcourse never let the play alone!) and parents can enjoy some much-needed relaxation.
Comparing Maenam Beach to Other Koh Samui Beaches: While Chaweng Beach and Lamai Beach on the east side of Koh Samui are popular with tourists, they tend to have stronger waves, making them less ideal for families with young children. In contrast, Maenam Beach is located on the north side of Koh Samui, and thanks to its gentle shoreline and family-friendly amenities, it’s easily our top pick for a peaceful family day by the sea.

Hi! I am traveling to Thailand in one month. Do you have any advice on how to find local bars and restaurants with cheaper prices?
Hi! They're actually not that hard to find. Google maps has a filter on price range, but strangely enough it doesn't always appear. Except from the main main tourist strips and the fancy places in Bangkok, most of it's in the price range you're looking for. Eating at night market's our favorite and a very good option price wise.
We love your channel- thank you! We’d love to know where you stayed in Chiang Mai! That little hotel with the centre pool. Looked awesome! We’ll be travelling with our boys 9 and 12.
Thank you so much! That's great to hear 🙏 It's called Pingviman Hotel. Been there multiple times and always enjoyed it a lot. Have fun!!
@ thank you so much!
I have a 45m transfer, it is one ticket from Qatar Airways, is it possible to make it?
That's tight! Maybe give the crew a heads-up on your first flight. They probably can give you the best tips. I've also seen them rush people to make connections before. Good chance that'll be you 😅 Good luck!
Cool toys better then in South africa 😅❤ 😮😮😮 i need to go there really 😊 it looks really cool
If you get the chance, definitely go visit. It's really cool :)
been living and working in Thailand currently retired but till visit Thailand every year for a few months and I've never had any issues and driven for years in Bangkok while working and now while retired I drive from South to North and love it I wouldn't go to Thailand without a rented car it's fine but keep alert. Great video
Thanks so much! 🙏
I love tuktuks in Thailand. ❤️🇹🇭
So much fun right 🛺😎

Happy to hear that! 🙏
Great video thanks a lot for the detailed information
Thanks! Happy to hear you liked it! 🙏
I’ll be going on my own so I’ll get the airport rail link I think rather than Taxi. With the Sim you’re given a package so you have take your home SIM card out and keep that safe?
Hi! That's it indeed. I've got a dual sim so could keep the other one in as well. Maybe also check put e-sims. Didn't cover that in the video but heard go stories lately. It's like a digital extra simcard.
haha. need too much confidence
😅
always use superich exchange myself but i would never buy sim card at airport, far cheaper in shopping malls
Thanks you can indeed get deals and we sometimes just want to be connected right away as well :)
Thank you for sharing your vacation with us! Sending ❤ from northern Canada!
Happy you liked it! And fun to hear that you've watched it all the way in northern Canada! 😊
Tried to figure out quite a few times that where did you reach to pay 330 Baht in taxi! Guess we'll have to count on 35 minutes=330 Baht! But it will be helpful if you can mention your destination.
Hey! It's 330 + 60 for the tollway + 20 per big bag or suitcase. Said that at 9:10 but better to ad the numbers on the screen next time to be more clear. I see that we didn't do that here. And we went to Bangkok Old Town. Mentioned earlier in the video. It's an area, but the price should be about the same as what we paid, no matter where you go in Bangkok Old Town.
Nice video, well constructed, and very informative with lots of practical advice. My first experience of driving in Thailand was in Bangkok around 15 years ago. A friend loaned me her Subaru Impreza. After two nerve-wracking days of trying to negotiate Bangkok's traffic, read road signs and dodge motor cycles flying in from every directions (not easy to do all at the same time), I gave up and left the Subaru in the parking lot under the condo I was renting and used taxis. But when I moved out to the more rural areas of Ang Thong and Khampang Phet, I found the driving experience slightly more relaxing. You are absolutely right. You need to be a confident driver but never be overconfident or cocky, leave that to the Thai's, and be aware that's how most of them drive. Make sure your driving documentation, international driving licence, insurances and passport, etc, are correct and up to date... you never know when or where the Thai police are going to put up one of their road check-points!
Hi David, thanks so much! And thanks for sharing your experience. Enjoyed reading it. Never driven in Bangkok myself. Can totally imagine it being on another level :)
How do you use transportation in Thailand?
Hi! We've made a video on exactly that :) It's called "How to get around in Thailand?"
Are there any bars?
Don't know bars per se, but you do have restaurants where you can get a bite and a drink.
Hi! I really enjoyed your review, would 1 hour be enough for a transit? I’m pretty familiar with the signs and stuff
Hi thanks so much! 1 hour is a bit risky I would say. We always make sure to have more time than that. If it's a connecting flight they've probably thought about it and it should be ok. But you're gonna be stressing getting out the plane, running in the hallways and hoping for no lines at the scanning of the cabin luggage 😅
@@alittlesunshinewithjayandbee Yeah haha
Amazing video. Some advice please - how was Thailand with a stroller?
Thanks so much! In our other "Travel plan" video we show some more footage of that. It's in the description. Basically it was pretty ok, but sidewalks can be crooked. We make it work but it can be better for sure :)
Hi Guys, quick question. When did you book the flights in Thailand between different cities? Did you book it before you left for Thailand or whiles you're there or just turned up and paid for a flight ticket? What's the baggage allowance on local flights please? Thanks.
Hi! These flights we booked a while before. With most airline companies in South-East Asia the flight price is excluding check-in luggage. So you just choose what weight you want en pay a bit extra. With Bangkok Airways it's including luggage (I believe 20kg). A little bit more expensive than other companies, but we really like it.
@@alittlesunshinewithjayandbeethank you so much

I am thinking about going to Thailand in May with my 12 year old son. Are mosquito bites and risk of dengue fever or other illness common? I have these health concerns. My son really wants to go though. Is it high risk ?
@@Indre-dh5rz Hi, we definitely get your concerns. Dengue is year round in Thailand. So yes, there is a chance. We go to like a travel doctor before we take trips and get advice and vaccinations. We'd always advice to go and talk to them. They can probably answer all your questions. Good luck!
Thanks for the video, really informative! Thailand drivers are kinda crazy haha, you gotta be extra careful especially with the damn scooters....
Haha can be hectic for sure. And about the scooters, especially pay attention around tourists riding them. In our experience their driving is a lot more dangerous than the locals.
I'm from Vancouver Canada and rented a car from BKK airport and drove down to Hua Hin for a few days. Some of the craziest roads I've ever experienced and you definitely need to be fully aware at all times. That and the traffic is absolutely crazy. Took us an hour and a half to go 5km near Terminal 21 mall
Thanks for sharing your experience! Never made that trip from BKK to Hua Hin. It's on the list though... 😐 what was it that made the roads so crazy?
If you want experience real crazy, come to Indonesia 😂 Thailand traffic & roads are much much better
Bee is actually from Indonesia 😊 drove motorbikes there before. Cars not yet!
would be more helpful if you gave a link to the company you used... or did I miss something?
Hi! We always get this kind of minivan. Just ask the hotel reception to arrange it. Doesn't take us more than a few minutes. I don't really have the idea that it's really companies. Or maybe just small ones with a few cars. So we don't go for a specific company. We just tell the reception what we need and when, and ask them to arrange it.
I love the dutch they are so laid back and chill. Is your wife malaysian? Thanks for the video and tips, I'm making this flight for first time next month and will surely follow your advice.

Thanks that's great to hear! And thanks for the tip 🙏
The pace of these videos is just fine. The information is spot on. It's refreshing to watch something on TH-cam that's about Asia that is actually accurate and able to express how enthralling the place actually is in a level headed, factual way, without someone trying to bedazzel you with flash editing, swampped in crappy music or drown you with too many superlative adjectives of "WOW!" "AMAZING!" "INCREDIBLE!" "UNBELIEVABLE!" "FANTASTIC!" and the one I hate the most...." we did all this - we stayed here, and it was so cheap!" That's obviously relitive to economics of the country you are visiting, not the country you are from and possibly insulting to the residents of that location who maybe only earn 50 to 100 dollars a day. A nicer word may be "inexpensive". To use the word, "cheap", just sounds, well, cheap, to be honest. These little ray of sunshine vlogs are fun and a style of their own, which is great...it's good to be different.
Wow thank you so much for your kind words! That's so lovely to hear. Much appreciated!! 🙏
Enjoy watching, great video!!
