i would suggest removing the back plastic panel of the tv. they are bigger than needed, the powerboards of the tv are on the back side of the panel secure. which would reduce the depth
love the video! Totally gonna make the gameboard version
Very good video. I love the step-by-step instructions. Your information is spot on and although I would design it for portability, I like the coffee table option.
super helpful video, but what's with the 80s horror movie soundtrack?? :)
4:07 the last thing that anyone should think is, "What would August do?"
On the other hand if you flip the board, the pocket holes are on the inside and already hidden.
2:41:35 another word for the seed that cannot be misconstrued: Pit
That’s the pits.
1:03:49 what the flock 😂😂
That flock!
I have a Mars 2 Pro and it is really difficult starting out if you don't know what you are doing. Great beginner video on getting started with 3d printing. I definitely prefer the resin printers but both have their benefits. Looking forward to seeing additional videos, especially troubleshooting like with printer calibration or misprints.
next month, i want buy a printer to do that, nice video, l am DM
So glad it helps. Best of luck.
Such a fun episode!
Such a fun time.
1:38:40 they have a thing lol
Minor inconvenience.
Also is the child thief a vampire?
She did say she saw the sun. Or was that a lie.
35:39 this conversation is so good. We have some real characters here, its awesome to watch good characters disagree and both be right
Great group.
3:08:45 Tina’s face. She always thinks Oberon did naughty things to her (stole more than her magic) lol

For anyone who already has a D&D Beyond subscription, (don’t go out of your way for one), that includes the Maps Alpha. It’s also a really great option. You can hit spectator view at the bottom and it pops out a second tab that has only the things your players can see. Move that to your Table top display. Only one account needed!
3:23:45 my soul left my body when Tom said “I Kill Him” after I literally almost died trying to fix the mess we were put in 😂
I kill him again! lol 😂
I would recommend getting an acrylic or plexiglass sheet of about 5mm to lay on top of the TV/Monitor to protect the screen from any damages. This will add to the total cost of the project, but it'll save you a lot of trouble when something does happen to the screen.
This is funny even though I’ve never played dnd also Joey is funny
Thank you. He is quite funny! I agree.
I was wondering what program you are using to get your digital maps to fit to the size of yoyr screen?
Here is my video on how to use software for digital maps. Using Digital Map Software | Behind the Screen | Land of Prova th-cam.com/video/nrhpCzHvm-w/w-d-xo.html
Great video my man! I'm also a TTRPG player and woodworker in my (rare!) spare time. I bought a tv on black friday last year and, now that I have the time and space, am wanting to make this very setup. I've looked at several videos and I have to say this is the best one I've come across. You did a great job of explaining the process and methods so that someone with next to no woodworking experience should be able to follow without any trouble. I also appreciate that you kept it simple, but threw out options for the people that may want to go a little bit extra with it.
Thanks. I always try to be as helpful and clear as I can in my videos. Good luck with your build!
That description is pulling on my heartstrings 😢I can't believe how far we've come in such a short time, I can't wait for the next session - Thalia's very sad player
Seems like it only got worst for poor Thalia in the next episode. 😱
Great video, but I was surprised that there is no plexiglass top to protect the screen of the TV
I’ve been using my home game like this for a few years now. Tv seems to be holding up fairly well especially considering the amount of miniatures I use. Still plexiglass would make the whole setup stronger. Definitely an upgrade worth the time and money.
Love the way you thoroughly yet concisely explain the purpose of every step, how to do it and (perhaps unintentionally) demonstrate potential pitfalls to avoid, keep up the great work!
Thank you. I appreciate it!
I LOVE your videos on building stuff like this, man - please keep 'em coming!
Thank you . I really appreciate it.
How about me immediately bursting into tears at the end of this session. 😂 Can’t wait for next week
Such a great session.
This is awesome mate. Stay at it and your channel will take off I'm sure. (I might try to make this over the summer!)
Thanks. I appreciate it!
Great video! I have had making one of these on my to do list for way too long! I do want to add an acrylic sheet over the screen to protect it. Wondering what is the best way to do that. I am thinking it would require the use of a router or routing table to make a grove for it but would love your input on how to do those and what size acrylic sheet to use.
Personally, I would cut a short ledge at the top of the wood so the sheet could be placed after the assembly. You could also add double sided tape to connect the sheet to the wood, if you don’t plan to move it much. If you do plan to move it around a lot I would attach some hardware like a screw with washers or mirror holder clips to hold it in place. The important thing is to be able to remove the sheet when it becomes too scratched without disassembling the whole project. Best of luck to you.
@@LandofProva I had not considered removing it for scratches. That tape they use to hold cellphone and tables screens on may work well.
Loads of fun! Can’t wait to do this again!
I used to stains dining tables by hand no brushes.. You can get wood stain off your hands using lemon-almond oil. Never used urethane. I would apply 4 layers of clear topcoat and wet sand with 600 grit for the final coats. Looked like glass.
Love the stain removal tip. Sanding with high level sandpaper is a goal of mine. Can’t wait to try it on a project. Thanks for sharing.
If you wanted to use the thinner wood, for weight reduction, you could use piano hinges, which are longer, and use epoxy instead of screws or fasteners. Mark out the placement of the hinge, cut a shallow mortise, and glue the hinge in with epoxy. This may not work for a small hinge, but with a piano hinge that runs the length of the edge, it should be strong enough for years of gaming.
That is a fantastic idea. Thanks for sharing.
Can’t wait to play again in 2 weeks!
Loved this! So much fun!
Thank you so much for your great video. Do you know if Bentos Battle Maps works on Dynamic Dungeons Editors or are they intended to be used only on Foundry?
You can bring the same maps into dynamic dungeons. The issue you will run into is that Bentos makes some of their maps vertically and Dynamic dungeons only displays maps horizontally. The work around is to bring in the map as an object instead of a background. As an object you can rotate it and scale it to any size. Hope this helps.
Vesa mounting plates for screens are pretty cheap and will anchor the TV to help prevent it from falling out.
I agree. Wall mounts are great.
Hey what material would you reccomend to cover the screen, acrylic or something? and what would be budget friendly?
Acrylic paints are a great way for an artist to add details and more art to a screen. If you want a protective sealing I would use spray on clear lacquer. It’s quick and easy.
@@LandofProva I think he meant an actual piece of "plastic" (Acrylic) sheeting, that can cover the screen of the TV, and still be transparent to see through to the picture on the TV. I would recommend measuring your side panels a 1/2" (or less) higher, to accommodate a 1/8" inch acrylic sheet. Using a router with a small bit or a table saw blade (or dado) to cut a dado (or groove or channel) that the sheet can slide into before attaching the last of 4 sides.
@@patkenney7226 would you be concerned about overheating the TV sealing the top in like that?
@@Draikskorn That is a slight possibility if you enclose the whole unit (as some people have done in these similar types of videos) however, as you see in this, the back side isn't enclosed, but he has pieces of wood to support the back but there is ample space for the TV fans to exhaust heat. Another alternative that many people do is cut separate exhaust holes in the sides and attach quiet computer fans and a mesh or other type of covering (for esthetics) thus, letting any heat be blown out the side exhaust ports. Other solutions are to have the open back and attach small legs or feet on the corners to lift the case off of whatever surface you place it on, thus allowing the venting on any heat and air to flow freely under the sides.
Great video! Thanks for all the explanations 😍
Glad it was helpful!
Me sitting here impatiently waiting for the Ben comments
Maybe one day!
This was such a fun session! Love playing with these lovely players! Can’t wait to see what happens when Amadrya talk to Titania after finding out her dream came from Oberon, not her
Joey really did an amazing job. He’s getting his rhythm down.
An added plexiglass would be cool, so you can paint on it with whiteboard markers or something like that.
That is a great idea.
Loving the vibe the group is developing. Cant help but smile every time Lucas says “Investi-GATION”. Had a few favorite moments and two questions: 21:33 -Ian- “I am a cat, I dont care about anything” 1:23:33 - Kitsu learns what dogs actually sound like lol 1:31:22 - Tom- “We are always looking for Dos Equis” Question 1- Is there anyway the voices can be turned up and the music softened? Question 2- Why is nobody trying to pet the cat? 🐈⬛
Thanks for the help with audio. I’ll see if I can fix it for the next session.
I'd also call out Tom Cartos for a great series of maps 👍
Thanks for the suggestion. I agree. His maps look great and at a good price.
AYE! Always grateful for the shoutout! Thanks my man!
No problem 👍
Also, I need to stop going out of frame 😂
It takes a while to get used to the cameras.
Such a fun session!!! Can’t wait to play again next week!
I agree. I’m looking forward to next week.
TL;DR: Infinity Realms is currently the best option for DTT (in-person Digital Table Top) You pretty much covered the two main applications to which I gave the most review time to decided which one I wanted to utilize for a game I was going to be running. After review a number of VTT's to see if they fit what I needed, I found answers in not-VITT's. Oh, I review to these apps as DTT's - Digital Table Tops. It's essentially what they are and 'virtual' being anywhere in the name throws me off personally. So, I built a digital table box for a 40" TV and knew I would be connecting to it over HDMI. I knew we were going to physically using minis and our main goal with the TV box was only 3 things - display a map, have a grid overlay, and allow for fog of war. I couldn't believe how hard it was to find an app that did these 3 basic aspect without mucking it up with too complex or just too many other features. After moving past Roll20, Inspire, Arkenforge, Dungeon Alchemist, Maptools, DMHelper...maybe some others, for the above issue of doing too much or just not quite meeting my needs, I discovered Dynamic Dungeon Editor and was super excited. The excitement lasted a week as I built maps, loved the animated token adds for elements or effects. It really did a lot, but its issues for me became two fold - 1) you can't move your files well from one computer to another. I do a lot of my map buildout on my desktop, but run the games from my laptop. This pretty became a non-starter, but I still had the issue of 2) DDE requires a dedicated GPU. It doesn't matter how good your integrated GPU is, the app requires it to run well and trying to run it on even powerful dedicated video has performance issue. This seems like more of an architecture issue that actual integrated GPU performance issue. Fortunately I discovered Infinity Realms and it did exactly what I needed - I could control fog of war and I could have my grid overlay. It allowed me to export my 'scenarios' and import them on another computer. I also prefer it's scenario and scene organization from DDE. I can save a scenario for a location, like Village of Barovia, let's say, and then within that save scenario I save scenes that are each the individual interior with the first being the world map. Now the church grounds, church interior, and church basement are all easily swapped between. Same with the tavern or Mad Mary's house. As for the extra features for paid - I am paying for the subscription. The main reason wasn't additional features on fog or rain, though those are pretty cool. I really wanted the fog setting as I'm running Strahd and the fog/mist is sort of needed. I have one issue with the implementation in that it's a full screen overlay and you can't chop out where it appears on the map, which when you have an interior and you just want the areas around the building to have fog, that's not too good. DDE did this better because the fog/mist was a scalable animated element on the map. In relation to the fog/mist implementation, this is still an area where IR is better than DDE, in my opinion, and that is their discord. The actual developers of DDE aren't in the discord, so anything you ask about usually than requires back and forth with middle-persons and you may not get very good answers (just my experience). The IR discord has the lead developer in it and all feedback so far has been really positive, weather suggestion or bugs. Bugs seem like they actually get worked and theirs confidence that features tweaks will be implemented. The schedule of update releases is also much more frequent. DDE seems a little too 'set it and forget' in my experience. Apologize for typos - didn't fee like rereading :)
It'd be cool to build in some sort of a steam deck or something and a spot to slip in an old laptop to connect to the TV. I guess you could manage the whole thing from a laptop off to the side, but it'd be neat to have the whole thing be a single unit. Still though, cool build.
There are so many ways to expand on the design.
Chrome stic, Apple TV also work if you want to have wireless solution.
