I am a professional inshore and freshwater fishing instructor who has spent an abundant amount of years developing experience in saltwater and freshwater inshore fishing, specializing in river bank, surf, inshore and freshwater boats and pier fishing. I extremely enjoy sharing the techniques I've learned with others, after all, in my experience, it can be just as enjoyable watching others catch and land or just fish in general. I hope by sharing the experience with others, the art and enjoyment of fishing would be passed down for generations to come. In this computer age that has come upon us, the sport seems to have taken a back seat, what some have yet to experience or may have forgotten, but nothing beats the excitement, the anticipation, the awe and surprise on someone's face when he or she hooks into a fish, especially in a child's face. New Pier Record Jack Crevalle!

I find myself fighting one of the hardest fighting fish, especially from a pier, a large Jack Crevalle, weighing over 30 pounds and battling with a light action rod, 20 pound test monofilament and an old Garcia 6500. The result is a new pier record in Mt. Pleasant, SC, located in the Charleston Harbor.

Nice catches may I ask what rig and setup were you using for your those drum, trout and flounder?
I was using a Carolina rig and a drop shot rig, both were weights between 3/4 oz and 1 oz. size 1 hook.

Zman slim swim artificial and live finger mullet. fish closer to the structure of the Pier and you will have a better chance of getting a hit from an ambushing fish. good luck on your next fishing adventure.

I appreciate your comment, and through the years, I have figured out that because I refuse to monetize with Google or become a partner with them, they continue to stop showing my view counts or subscribers. They will not compile them, but, nevertheless, they can't hide the fact that hundreds of thousands of people have watched my videos all over the world and I enjoy doing them. What do they taste like ?were you able to cook any by the riverside or at your csmp site ?
I was there the 17th through 23rd and caught about 20-25 trout total, rainbows and one brook! We stay at koa and have for 30 years I ate out at native brew and a peanut trout was 30 bucks so I caught over 600 dollars worth of fish! Glad you had a great time

Great catch! I didn't know it was possible to catch a Jack Crevalle that size at the Mountain Pleasant Pier. What bait did you use? Is it possible to catch a King Mackerel from that pier?

I have never caught an American Shad in the harbor, someone might have.

So when did they dredge and do you think it'll be better next year in the tail race
I know about 9 to 10 years ago they dredged the tailrace and it hasn't been the same since didn't know they did it again
Hi Chad, the Tailrace canal is part of the Cooper River. They have been dredging at the mouth of the Cooper since the 2nd week in January and around Bushy Park. They also had dredge barges at the dam. The Shad come in from the Charleston Harbor, with all the mess and distraction during the Shad migration, I believe caused the Shad to go elsewhere.
Nice Video Jerry, Shad fishing is Big in Eastern NC , my first for the year was on February the 10th. All Americans that day, then the next week it was all Hickories in the same place. then the next week all Hickories. 2 of the 3 are out on video. I have caught Americans in the Santee but got skunked across from Arrowhead. Mack
