Okay this is 100% true, my friend and I tried to play a joke on my cousin by reeling in his line and hooking a dead bluegill we found on the shoreline. He was at the snack bar with my brother and after we hooked the dead bluegill on his line we tossed it back out. After my cousin came back we were giggling as he reeled in his line, as he reeled it in he said he thinks he has a fish. We laughed thinking about what he would reel up but when he brought it up it was a 12" live trout, the Bluegill was gone. He ended catching a trout on our dead dried up bluegill....weird and the truth.

So I guess the fishing was pretty dead back then🤣
