Just someone archiving and writing down my thoughts about the games I play.
Testing "Treespear" on Malenia (NG+7) | Elden Ring
From the shortlist of Holy weapons, Treespear is - by far - the best "main" weapon to compliment my Zakat's fashion and background. Messmer's Soldier Spear is best in terms of build flexibility but if I'm going to create a character, I want gear that's obtainable at the start of a run; without having to resort to Cheat Engine.
Also, I love Romina's music so much, I just had to use it for Malenia. I think I'll be doing that for any future weapon and build tests against her. :X

Testing "Winged Scythe" on Malenia (NG+7) | Elden Ring
มุมมอง 45321 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Disclaimer: These Malenia fights aren't a regular thing, I only do these on occasion when there's something I want to test out; just as the title mentions. The Winged Scythe is my favourite Scythe design since the Lifehunt Scythe in DS1. I've fought Malenia enough times for the fights to feel slow to me, but after going up against Messmer, it's like she's moving in super slow-motion and it felt...
Testing "Nightrider Flail" on Messmer (NG) | Elden Ring
มุมมอง 6614 วันที่ผ่านมา
Did FromSoft increase the duration of Vyke's Dragonbolt? It used to last around 30-40 seconds previously, but now it lasts over a minute. If they did, I'm glad it's been buffed. I love the red lightning visual effects. Since NRF has such a high DEX requirement, I figured it'd be better infused with Keen rather than Lightning. It would also give me a reason to pull out Vyke's Dragonbolt. When yo...
Testing "Grave Scythe" on Messmer (NG) | Elden Ring
มุมมอง 12014 วันที่ผ่านมา
I did this fight immediately after the Poleblade of the Bud since I still had the drive. Scythes are my least used weapon class right beside Flails and I don't know why I never used them. This was only the second time I ever used the Grave Scythe, the first time was when I did a similar weapon tryout with Malenia months ago. I wanted to try it out again after doing some off-screen testing of th...
Testing "Poleblade of the Bud" on Messmer (NG) | Elden Ring

I just noticed how silly Messmer's face gets when he's riposted. :X The Bud is easily my favourite-looking weapon in the game. I like how the bud looks like a curved blade, I like the pink/magenta accents and I _love_ the pink butterflies of the skill. Truth be told, I've never been a fan of the Guardian Swordspear's R1 wide vertical moveset. While they are faster than the regular halberd swing...
Testing "Flame Milady" on Messmer (NG) | Elden Ring
มุมมอง 42414 วันที่ผ่านมา
I wanted to test out how Fire damage would fare against Messmer. Sufficed to say, I'm happy with the results because, despite the higher fire resistance, if I can still do decent damage with only the Scorpion Charm and Flame Cracked Tear. I used Flaming Strike because I like the colour contrast between my character's blue fashion and the orange blade. I used the Opaline Hardtear to negate the C...
Testing "Carian Thrusting Shield" on Messmer (NG) | Elden Ring
มุมมอง 14114 วันที่ผ่านมา
I had been hoping for a shield with a proper moveset since DS1 and I finally got one. Yes, you've always been able to "attack" by two-handing your existing shield(s) but they are clumsy and mostly unintended. The block R1 is the most reliable attack string on the thrusting shield and although I didn't use it here, it makes Barricade Shield the sleeper hit since it reduces incoming stamina damag...
Testing "Twinned Knight Swords" on Messmer (NG) | Elden Ring
มุมมอง 7721 วันที่ผ่านมา
This is why I don't do builds focused on damage, because it goes against my preferences when bosses die too quickly. That said, I did enjoy seeing a pure physical build do that much damage without relying on status effects. It was really fun to see Messmer evaporate so quickly. I wanted to use the TKS because of my recent tests with Endure. The primary routine was to wait for one of Messmer's n...
Beating Messmer on my second try | Elden Ring DLC
มุมมอง 6521 วันที่ผ่านมา
This is not meant to be a boast or ego-stroking video. I'm uploading this to tide things over since I'm unable to edit any of my footage for a full video while sick. I was delirious and my brain was in "just keep hitting" mode and wasn't really paying attention to anything but Messmer and didn't notice that I was doing well against him. I instinctively skipped the cutscene so I didn't know how ...

There are probably better ways to deal with them, but this is the method I have with my build. It's also another good reason for using Heavy infusion.

Cleanly fought! It's a big shame the Treespear is noninfusable. It has an excellent moveset.
The DLC added the Messmer Soldier Spear which is infusable and has the same moveset.
Nice.
Awesome vid! Romina's theme fit so well I wish Malenia had that instead
If u don’t mind me asking what was your first souls game. Your realy good at figuring out what’s gonna happen. I’ve started ds1 recently and I’m just so confused all the time lol😅😅
I started back in 2009 with the original JP Demon's Souls and I've been playing these games ever since. Thanks for the compliment but I can't take all the credit, the game has excellent environmental storytelling and they do provide essential information if you take the time to look around, listen to dialogue and read up items.
@ I feel bad becausd some of these older games I just don’t get and have to research things because I don’t want to carry on being fustrated. E.g. bonfire locations on ds1 because the runbacks r long and I keep dying😓
@@abdurrahmanhussain8939 Yeah I get it. Newer Souls entries have lots of accessibility features to make gameplay more convenient that older entries don't have. It's a tough pill to swallow for players who start with DS3 or Elden Ring but the core gameplay loop is still present in every Souls game. I think it's fine to look up guides or information since DS1 is an older game and it's ultimately your experience. If you think using guides makes your playthroughs more enjoyable, go for it. But if you prefer immersing yourself in the experience, it's better to play blind. A fine balance would be to play blind, but if you really find yourself stuck, just look up some tips.
@ probably irrelevant but I just beat ds1 started 5 days ago and it’s done now. Happy to have watched guides beceause without it I would have dropped it. After playing it I realy appreciate its interconnected nature
Looks clean, well played
1:56 Dang I didn't think it was possible to get out of range of waterfowl in time if you're right next to her when she starts it
Yeah, it's possible but timing is key. You have to jump _just as_ Malenia is near the ground as she descends.
Can't wait till you reach the final boss. It has the most un-Souls theme music in the franchise that I can recall, but it fits so well.
As always you're just too good at piecing the information together. Romina took me completely by surprise, I had no idea what was waiting behind the fog wall. The only thing I could predict was the rot theme from the area ahead of her. You figured out half of her identity before you met her.
Appreciate the compliment! I enjoy exploring and digging up lore so these games were made for me.
The Fire Knights are perfect for the deflecting hard tear. I knew they'd be controversial, but being able to keep up with them and set the pace of the fight was great. Use the deflecting hard tear. Use it! >:(
No worries, I don't find them controversial at all. FromSoft often adds in troublesome enemies that aren't always straightforward to deal with, but there's always a solution if you look for it. Endure, most R2s and just weapons from the "Great" category and above can stomp past Fire Knights without issue. I won't be using the Deflecting Hardtear on this character but I'm thinking of using it to update an old old Ruins Greatsword Guard Counter build. :X
weapon looks greta but its ash is not that good
Yeah, it's not a damage skill but more of a NPC invader/PvP skill since it's just Lloyd's Talisman on command. But you have to think outside the box because, it also has hyper-armour, high stagger and 30 Stance damage while providing verticality which lets you avoid ground hits. It's niche but still has lots of utility.
@@magnolia549 30 stance damage is actually pretty neat
With how many npc invaders are in the dlc this weapon becomes more useful as it clears all of them, except for the one that has infinite poise. It's a really efficient npc killer.
I'm really enjoying the Scythe but I just wish the infusable ones weren't all so...dirty and rusted. I miss my Lifehunt Scythe, I miss bleeding myself out while also eviscerating invaders and fellow duelists. :X
Damn, you're already trouncing on Messmer.
I'm able to learn and adapt to Messmer so quickly because he's literally Malenia 2.0. He has his own versions of her attacks, as well as, his own version of her Rot Clones and Waterfowl Dance. Unlike the latter, FromSoft made Messmer a lot more fair to deal with due to his aggressive AI. Extremely entertaining overall.
That was a really cool fight! Something I love about the DLC is that none of the bosses have extremely high resistances to any elements, which makes every build viable against them.
Nice vid👌🏼. Hope ur doing better
Still suffering, still laying in bed, haha.
Sword and board with Milady is so much fun
Relana is the first boss of the add-on for many and the most pleasant for me. Many complain about her endless combo, but it's not that endless, besides it's incredibly beautiful and she moves to the beat of the music, which intuitively simplifies the fight. The best boss of the add-on.
Jokes aside, Messmer has earned his spot as one of my favourite bosses in Elden Ring. He's the only DLC boss I've fought so far that actually feels like Malenia. He is what I think Malenia should have been, he is intense but none of his attacks require successful specific dodge maneuvers or you die. While I do enjoy Malenia, I'm having more fun with Messmer than I ever did with Malenia.
Yep, he's my favorite boss in the game, too. Hard, but fair, with a varied move set and a reasonable health bar. Also, holy shit, that damage! How? Since when do twinblades deal that much? Psst, there's an amazing twinblade in the DLC. It can be hard to find (I had to look up the location after I beat the DLC without finding it), and it was a trek to get it, but so worth it. You'll know it if/when you find it.
@@verified_tinker1818 Messmer is a more interesting _and_ entertaining boss because although he's difficult, he's a wall that can be surpassed with time and practice regardless of builds. That's why I'm having fun with him more quickly. I don't really have rankings when it comes to my favourites, but he's be right under Malenia. Although I don't have much footage of Twinblades on the channel, I really enjoy this weapon class in ER because of their versatility with one or two-handed attacks. Twinblades should have all been Strength weapons because their true potential comes out when you two-hand due to how easy it is to land multi-hits. "A trek to find it" implies this weapon is well-hidden. Sounds like I'll have a fun time exploring. Thanks! :)
what about spells with longer cast times?
You'll probably have to time your Endure cast to just before you get hit, so that you get off your casts between an enemy's swing.
if you off-hand your catalyst, you can usually get the spell off before endure ends. I've been running Endure on my lightning build, and it can last while charging up a full Ancient Dragon Lightning Strike.
I use endure a lot to kill bosses. It becomes a battle of attrition. The boss will kill me if I can't heal. If I can heal, the boss dies.
So, you ever come across an enemy you just *know* players are gonna hate? That's the horned warriors. But. . .I actually really like them! The knight type enemies were absolutely nailed in the dlc.
They're quite incredible, I also like them :)
I love them as test dummies because Horned Warriors and Fire Knights are the only tanky humanoids that respawn; Crucible Knight don't, sadly. So they're incredible punching bags to test out weapons, spells, etc.
