The Blerd Library
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 14 ก.พ. 2021
A Black speculative fiction student and recluse who desperately seeks to understand humanity through the fantastical and horrific stories of marginalized peoples. And every now and then, you’ll see Keisha in her rural, basic life, similar to Thanos after he succeeded: gardening, crafts, and a 65lb pittie who conveys just enough judgement in his eyes to make you ashamed of your life choices.
Black Queer Speculative Fiction with LP Kindred
Let’s try this again! This interview is with the Mazing LP Kindred! We talk about his short stories Wanderlust, Your Rover is Here, Rihanna, Voodoonauts, and literally anything that comes to mind.

Not every story is going to be perfect so here are 5 of my favorite imperfect books and comics. What are yours? Yes, this is an older video I filmed prior to cutting my hair. Apparently I have a few of them so I can be consistent!!🎉🎊🥰 If you want to talk to Keisha or know more about The Blerd Library in these internet streets, click below: linktr.ee/theblerdlibrary

Nalo Hopkinson is a great writer. I first learned about her from DC comics House of Whispers.
I have read Far Sector, The Fifth Season book one and Nubia. A Blade so Black is on my wish list. Earthdivers i have on my radar. Now I'm curious about Black Sun. Riot Baby also on my radar.
It looks so pretty!
😮ooooo also 😂😂

This video was really fantastic, my gf has gotten this book to read and I ran to her when you discussed the fact the author is from Argentina and how there is a lot of femoicde and how it really made all of the themes in the book click into place. Like I was so annoyed with how people dismissed this book cause of the cannibalism when its a tool to discuss how society allows so many horrible things to happen for the sake of comfort! Thank you for making this really detailed review on the themes this book is playing with it really makes me interested to read it someday!
😆😆😆

I need this in my life! 🥹😂🤣
It's really good!!
Never knew I needed something so bad.
@@brainless_tm it's a great comic!!
OMG - At 12:55 I was *right* with you!!!!!!!!!
14:08 - I LOVE this story!
YAY! Watching!!!
It's definitely a beautiful cover! 😍😍😍
Ohhkkkaaayyy!!! FACTS tho! 🙂
FACTS!!!! An amazing book. I picked it out as to do a paper in English class in college. I was the only person in the class that did a paper on the book. My favorite quote that hits me every time "Your people contain incredible potential, but they die without using much of it." Shessshhh...I have chills now! 😊 I need 2 read the other books in the series.
The excitement you expressed when you opened the last package makes me want to read that. 😁 Thank you for sharing.
I hope you enjoy it! I have high hopes for it!😊
This one sounds cute
It is!!!😊😊😊
This is the first video I’m seeing of yours and I want to say that as someone who is battling feelings of depression and anxiety, I admire you so much for braving the space that is the internet and being vulnerable in sharing a piece of your story. And you and your hair are stunning!
Thank you!!🥰🥰🥰 and yeah, I’m very open about my diagnoses because mental health, especially in today’s society, shouldn’t be a taboo subject. Being more open about my struggles has helped me and has helped my family and friends in being a better support system when Im struggling. ☺️
Enjoyed the discussion of taboo and the function it plays in the story
It’s a recent deep dive I’ve been on. I really love seeing how taboo is used in spec fic
Oooh very interesting answer for the sisters question. Game of Thrones fans know all too well abt that taboo 😅
I’ve never watch GOT but I’ve heard how it get 😅
Seeing how hype you got for the blood of old kings has immediately got me putting it on my TBR
Im hoping it’s good!!! I hate when the blurb is fantastic and the book falls flat😅
Omg i love that book
@ReginaldCharles-ek6en I'm reading it now and I am so interested in it
Glad you're out of the depressive episode ( I know all about those), I love the hair too! (Your skin tone is beautiful and you could literally pull off any hair color), and yes for protecting mental health. Give us only what you can, no more no less. This bookish stuff is supposed to be fun. the rest of life is stressful enough Masquerade is a beautiful cover!
FACTS!!! Life is so stressful, this is supposed to help me de-stress!! Lol and thank you! I appreciate that! I love playing with color in my hair!! And Masquerade is gorgeous!!
Glad you’re feeling better bestie, also your hair looks super cute!! Love the color 🥰
Oh my goodness , thank you!!! You reminded me I have to cut it again soon!
Idk you were looking real gorgeously stupendous wit the blonde
@user-ny2zn6bd6i thank you!!!!! Honestly, I think it was my nerves that got to me. I've never been blonde so that may have been a shock. My current color is growing out so I'm thinking about trying again.
Good luck on your health and mental wellbeing journey xoxo. Thank you for posting in spite of the fact that you're resting on multiple facets rn.
@Dextrious_A thank you! 🥰 Hopefully setting up these boundaries work🤞🏾

I love anything marc !! Gotta finish that book😊
Learned a ton
I got about halfway through the book and I physically couldn’t finish it. I seriously couldn’t eat for days 😢 I’m trying to build up my courage to finish
Definitely understood. Please dont force yourself to read a book that creates that reaction😅 but if you are able to, it is a masterpiece!!
I haven't quite gotten into the video yet but I think people are missing that not only is there so much more than cannibalism but also that cannibalism is just a tool to get the themes across. Can't wait to hear your take!
I hope it was thoughtful 😅
@@theblerdlibrary it was!
I literally loved this book and people don’t talk about it enough in my opinion, if they do it’s literally only about the cannibalism 😭
There so much more! I didn’t even speak about the middle class and the sister’s dinner party/ memorial for their father 😭
I’ve been trying to make videos on this for ages! There is so much to say!
Getting through everything in this book would take hours. I love the layers in it!
I was watching a think piece on the hunger games yesterday that dealt with these themes
I can definitely see the similarities in themes between the two stories. Tender is the Flesh just takes those themes to darker, more intense levels.😊
17:34 I want to read this book now. At first I was like 😮, but something made click on this video and hear you out. The society in this book sounds like society now three moves away😅 everyone wants someone to care for them but they don’t want to care for anyone😢
exactly! We’re so close to this in our society, it’s actually scary😅 but I’m happy this video helped you choose to read it! 🥰🥰 this made my day!
Ugh I hate there being so many unknowns left…like yes he got rid of the jasmine “problem”.. but now they have this random baby. Where will they tell people they got it? If they try to pretend Cecelia had the baby, their family would know that wasn’t true..Is Cecelia’s mom loyal enough to keep the secret of her son-in-law having sex with a head? I guess given his job he could conjure up some fake paperwork saying that Jasmine was artificially inseminated..but I just wish there would have been a few paragraphs of Marcos and Cecelia discussing what they planned to do going forward. Or what would have been really crazy is if Marcos revealed that he already had all of the paperwork ready/the cover up planned out.. proving that he really had just been using Jasmine the entire time when most readers thought he had fallen in love.
I never thought he fell in love. He focused most of his attention on the unborn kid rather than Jasmine. she was a means to an end for most of his desires and the voids he was trying to fill in his life. 😭 It would have been interesting to see how they got away with hiding the truth of the kid’s birth mother but I think Bazterrica wanted us to focus on the selfishness of the characters. Like, we shouldn’t be invested in any of them. If anything, it should reminds us to be more humane in our treatment with one another or be so disgusted with the characters actions that we can’t fathom that behavior in our reality.
This book is definitely unpredictable lmao
you know what? It was fairly predictable for me but the way it was written and the commentary made it so I didn’t care. This book was perfection!
i loved that book! cant wait to hear your input
Tender is the flesh easily became a favorite book for me🥰
