Katla Ice Cave in Iceland: Where Ice Meets Volcanic Ash! 🧊🌋
Katla Ice Cave Tour in Iceland: A Full Walkthrough.
Hidden inside a glacier, covered in ashes from a vicious volcano that is lurking beneath it, we will find one of the most spectacular Ice Caves in Iceland: Katla Ice Cave. Join us on a full walkthrough in realtime and discover the breathtaking views of the Katla Ice Cave.
The Ice cave is changing all the time; even the way back already was a bit different! We went in spring, causing the ice cave to melt and form a very impressive cave/canyon of ice! The rain we got that day was a great addition of suspense. This ice cave partly collapsed a couple of months later, so we were blessed to be in time to see it at its best!
Katla is one of Iceland's most explosive volcanos. It is located in South Iceland under the Mýrdalsjökull ice cap. On everage, Katla erupts every 40-80 years, but with the last eruption being over 100 years ago (1918), it is long overdue.
When Katla erupts, the huge amounts of ice (up to 700 meters thick!) will quickly melt and cause severe floods (also called Jökulhlaup) that sweep away anything between the volcano and the sea further south. This is how the glacial outwash plains of Sólheimasandur are formed: a wasteland of black sands and gravel that look like the lunar surface. As if this flood isn't devastating enough, the following lava flows will form a second wave of total destruction when an eruption occurs.
Because a next eruption could always be around the corner, no significant settlements are present in Sólheimasandur. But the town of Vík, a little further away, might still be in danger when Katla erupts.

The Irresistible Charm of the Peaceful Okavango River between Namibia & Angola

In this video we explore the Okavango river with a traditional Mokoro boat. This river is named differently by the countries it flows through. In Botswana it is called Okavango, while Namibia named it Kavango and in Angola it listens to the name Cubango. We stayed at Nunda River lodge for 1 night, which was definitely too short, as it is a wonderful place along the river with breathtaking views...

Could you make a video like this about the Ring Road?
Sounds like a fun idea😎 Do you mean with the route on the map? That would take quite some time, but would be a great video I guess. In the meantime I will have 2 more Iceland video’s coming up and if you have any questions about the ringroad, I’ll be happy to answer them 👍🏼
C est popa falls attention aux croco😢
😂😮😮😮
That must have been a very dicey drive in that weather.
Fortunately we had a guide that was driving, as I would not have done some parts of this road myself, even in good weather 😅
I live in Europe and I like to travel to Africa. I found out that Namibia decided to kill wild animals. Because they have made this shocking decision, I will never visit this country and I will not leave a single cent there.
I knew about other countries in Africa doing this but didn't know Namibia is also planning to do it now. While they have their "reasons", the governments of these countries seem to really don't understand the precious wild animals they have :( Thanks for letting me know.
Have you been in Namibia before? You should go at least once in your lifetime! If you like this video, please don’t forget to give it a thumbs up & subscribe to my channel for more Natural Amazement: www.youtube.com/@Natural-Amazement?sub_confirmation=1
Magnific mirific👍
Located near Kandersteg, which is also a beautiful place to visit!
This is recorded in Fafleralp, Lötschental.
Have you been to Switzerland before? What is your favorite place that I should definitely visit? Please let me know in a comment, as I just can't get enough of this wonderful country ❤
Wow!!! Nature at it's best!!
Its a truly incredible country!
My Zimbabwe is beautiful and Zambia too ❤🇿🇼🇿🇲
It definitely is! ❤️
Natural.. how stunning edition,
Great video 🙌🏻👍🏻did you do it in one day? I’m going next year at the end of April, beginning of May .
We didn’t do all of them in 1 day as that is way too packed, but we stayed at Mývatn for 3 nights (so 2 full days) and did the following: When driving in from Bakkagerði in the east we drove to Dettifoss West-Side and Selfoss. Full day 1 in Mývatn: Dimmuborgir, Hverfjall, Grjótagjá, Námafjall Hverir. Full day 2: Húsavík Whale Watching, Ásbyrgi canyon, Jökulsárgljúfur canyon with Hafragilsfoss and a bit further down Dettifoss East Side. On both of these days I highly recommend to drive along lake Mývatn after dinner. You can do a short after-dinner walk to visit the pseudo-craters at Skútustaðagígar and have a couple of excellent viewpoints along the way! On the day we left Mývatn towards the Westfjords, we did the stop at Goðafoss.
@@Natural-Amazement awesome, thank you so much for all the info 🙌🏻😁🙏
On the way to Dettifoss Eastside, you drove on an unpathed road (the 864). Did you rent a car or did you have your own? If rented, do the car rental companies allow driving on unpathed roads? Thanks in advance and great video!
We rented a car (Landrover Discovery). Car rental companies most likely allow driving on these roads, only F-roads (this one’s not) might not be allowed, depending on the company and car of course. However, it is recommended to check the road conditions at safetravel.is/ before every drive, as road conditions can change quite frequently and rapidly. We were doing the Diamond Circle early June 2023 with sunny/cloudy weather and 15 degrees Celsius. In June of this year (2024), road 864 was closed and Myvatn Lake was covered in snow! I couldn’t believe it was such the opposite of the same period the year before! Thanks for your kind words and have a great trip in this remarkable and beautiful country!
أعشق محمية ايتوشا لانها تحتوي علي عدد كبير من الحيوانات الجميلة والنادرة
Great video and view.👍Thank you. I enjoyed it.
This is a great video. 👍
Super! Danke!
I was just thinking if some country just build a dam along Zambezi river and Vic falls seize to exist humans are the biggest hazzard to nature
Yeah for sure! Let’s hope that will never happen..
wow!
I like the video you present.I am interesting to know what kind of equipment you used to take the video? Could you share them?
Thank you for your kinds words Frank 🙏🏻 Most of the waterfalls are filmed with just an iPhone 13 pro max, as there were very strong winds most of the times. The drone shots are made with my DJI Mini 3 Pro. I also had a Sony Camcorder with me, but barely used it because of the rough weather. Sometimes I could barely hold my phone while filming. The winds at Haífoss were over 100km/h. 💨

Nice place to visit. Vítor José 😮❤🎉
Have been lucky to visit Iceland 8 times over the years and I love Waterfalls. Iceland doesn’t disappoint in this department as the Waterfalls are so diverse and different. Have seen 23 of the 25 you’ve posted here and seen close to a 100 overall. My top 5 in Iceland are. 1 Dynjandi. 2 Haifoss. 3. Hengifoss. 4. Kvernufoss. 5. Aldeyjarfoss. Great vlog and thanks for sharing.
👍I really enjoyed the video
It's a great video❤
Fantastic nature!
Having the time of their lives.
What a pretty place. Will be visiting soon. Thanks for sharing!
Such a lovely presentation my friend!

Dankjewel, dat vind ik ook! 🙏🏻
Is there a map guiding you to drive the diamond circle ? If it does, where to get? Thanks!
The map of the classic Diamond Circle route can be found here: www.northiceland.is/diamondcircle We just used google maps to drive from one highlight to the other.
This is amazing and will really help finalize our itinerary. So magical! Thanks you!
Thank you for your kind words and your sub, I really appreciate it! Have a great time in Iceland! (I know you will :))
Thanks for sharing. Amazing!
Great shots!- what an amazing experience- What time of year did you go and what tour company did you use? Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for your kind words, means a lot! I went at the end of May 2023 with Tröll Expeditions (also did the Skaftafell Glacier Hike and Silfra fissure Snorkeling with them). I heard that a couple months later, different parts of this Ice cave collapsed. It is always changing and looks way different now apparently.
Great video! What camera did you use for these videos? Thanks!
Thank you! Most shots I filmed with just an iPhone 13 pro max (4k 60fps). Main reason for this was the wind that’s always there! The drone shots of Myvatn were done with DJI Mini 3 Pro. During my trip I had 4 camera’s with me (also a GoPro Hero 11 and Sony FDR AX53 handheld, but the drone with ND filters easily outperformed them all.
Beautiful trip
This video contains all highlights we did around the Diamond Circle in early June of last year. You can do a short after-dinner walk to visit the pseudo-craters at Skútustaðagígar and have a couple of excellent viewpoints along the way! On the day we left Mývatn towards the Westfjords, we did the stop at Goðafoss. Hopefully this might help some of you with your itinerary. There are more things to do in this area, but with the planning we did we could do the things above in a relaxing way.
Going in a week-so excited! Wondering which might be accessible in March?
I am so jealous! These waterfalls I visited in May-June, but I think a lot are accessible in March, as most of them are near the RingRoad. Enjoy!
Awesome area in Iceland - i missed that when i was there Subscribed
Thanks a lot for your sub, really appreciate it! I recommend visiting the area next time you’re in Iceland 👍🏼
