Mercedes - Benz w124 400E came standard with a 32 valve V8 pushing 275HP and 300LB/FT or torque mated with a 4 speed transmission launching the 3700lb Freight train To 100 km in around 7 seconds. To anyone watching in 2024, I owned this beast for 7 years, this video was shortly after i bought it. Surprisingly in that time it never left me stranded on the road. It always ran a little odd like some people noticed and admittedly the body was in poor shape as you can see from the bumper and general maintenance was lacking from previous owner it also never had a cat either. I eventually ended up doing a full rebuild on the engine after a timing chain guide broke 3 years after this video and also later repaired the capacitors in the ecu which is a known failure. It remained my daily until I sold it last year. Still to this day it was the best highway bruiser i have ever driven and a true sleeper that would surprise everyone you would meet on the street. In my time owning it only 2 people i met knew what it was and both from eastern Europe lol. I miss it dearly. Cheers.
Surprisingly? It would be surprising if it ever DID leave you stranded. The ignition system is probably why it ran a bit odd.

Correct me if I'm wrong, the term drifting describes the controlled loss of traction. Wich this very much is. So yes, that's drifting. (Not everything has to be crazy on the limit. Imo we can just enjoy some chill drifting. No need to wreck that beautiful w124.)

Man, a V8 car I can afford over here in Europe? Oh yeah, im buying one. MPG may be bad, but the noise totally makes up for it.

@@BasedManNo you probably can’t afford one, and the MPG is very good for a V8 sedan... about the same as the 6 cylinder because of the gearing.

Im surprised it wasn't quicker. Just around 1 sec faster than a well maintained 300E. Very nice car though!

The 400e goes quicker the one here is just isn’t maintained properly
The one here has the 2.24 differential. They need around 7-7,5sec 0-100kmh. Its best suited for high speed driving on the Autobahn at 160kmh it really shines.

195/65 r15 is what you need...original size for the 400E/E420 ( or also 205/60 R15 )
WTF? Reverse lights on when starting???
My reaction was also along those lines haha, its an unknown(so far) electrical issue causing them to stay on. It does keep people off your ass at lights though..
Something about the engine doesn't sound right, and those air intake hoses need replacing
Motion Club It's a great and very rare example, beautiful car, sorry if I made it sound like criticism. I have a 6 cylinder turbo diesel in ice blue. Do you know of a forum I can join for the w124 since rennlist only does Porsche's? Maybe it would be great to keep track of our project cars (if you consider it that) Your car is amazing, keep the condition up!
Thank you, ice blue with the right wheels is one of my favourite colors for this car and Unfortunately i don't know of any forums right now, Maybe check out MBworld. Ps. I have since repaired the intake hoses haha

You need to replace those air intake hoses...LOL ( they are only $70 for the pair)... BTW, I have the exact same car ( 1993 )
