    How about just taking a leave of absence from your job? I like my job, but burnout is real in healthcare and I would love to take a couple of months off to relax, recharge and get my mind and body in better health. I want to take a trip to see people I know in Panama, and an exploratory in Thailand for yoga and massage.

    Still, the rich guy with 0 savings can sell his expensive car, yacht or house, get a cheaper one and have money left to affort a sabbatical. The poor guy doesn't have much space to downshift. And we have to compare saving up lots of cash and effects of inflation vs having real estate that you can sell later or rent to somebody.

    Nice video. I've been doing most of these things but I am framing it more as a time to build an independent lifestyle -- aka some type of business/source of income -- while also accomplishing some goals I've set aside for life, hobbies, and travel. The difficulty will be narrowing down what to do as I typically have a lot of varied interests. Might be an interesting topic for a video. Cheers!

    I’ve recently had life changing experiences through losing two of the most loved and important people I’ve ever know throughout my lifetime. While enduring the hardship of these losses, I’ve been motivated to genuinely seek my path to god by participating in the faith I was raised with and using that tool to do what I can to help others wherever we may encounter each other. I am only human like anyone a person sees and encounters in daily life. But my faith helps me endure through hardship to help people truly experience and Understand the good in the world. If there is anyone out there that might have ideas of how a beginner like me can take on an undertaking such as this, I would genuinely appreciate any advise or insight as to how one could go about it. Please don’t take this post as a cry for money. Although that is important, I’d prefer a warm clean bed, food, and a regular shower. Thank you all and god bless.

    • @sabbaticalstory2807
      @sabbaticalstory2807 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's great. There are some resources and ideas out there based on your situation. Here for example is a TED talk you may find interesting: th-cam.com/video/YTdmRdioxZY/w-d-xo.html This guy talks about how they home schooled their kids while they were away and a little about how to prepare. You can also look through your employer's policies on extended time off to see if you may qualify for LOA so that you can keep your health insurance and reduce financial burden there. These are just a couple of ideas and I hope it helps guide you to your next step.

      I appreciate you watching and commenting. Regardless of our money mindset and whether it empowers or restricts us to achieve our most monumental dreams, we all must still earn a living. The authenticity of my message has little to do with how I earn money and more to do with helping others see money differently...therein lies our power over it. I enjoy helping to empower others and the authenticity comes from direct experience and my desire to share it. Although I do have a Patreon account, I freely share all my content right here on TH-cam.

      @@sabbaticalstory2807 Were I in your shoes, I would do the same thing. Yes, we all have to earn a living. Though, I do know a few people who have forsaken money altogether. I think I was more put off because I actually enjoyed your message, and then it was like, hey, if you liked this, come on over to Patreon and pay a little bit to get all of the content. That's what I did not like. Your message is great, but if possible, give it away freely- entirely.

    Thank you for creating this channel and thanks for this video. I am going on sabbatical in few days for which i have been saving for last 3 years. The psychological fear you are talking about is very real. But i broke free of that by realizing that i have been working for last 8.5 years non stop and if i cant give myself a break for 6 months then do the hell with this kind of living. I need it now or it will never happen. Many people dont understand why i have to do this. And when i explain to them, they start giving me advice on what I should do further in life. And yes many are jealous. But i have stopped explaining it to them now. I hope that people will one day see that they just have to earn enough money to sustain themselves and dont have to slave away their lives for achieving some artificial standards of life.

    • @prabhdeepsingh5642

      @@benixmaximus It far exceeded my expectations. It went for an year and 8 months. In this time I gave a lot of time to music and writing - my two favourite hobbies. I developed a writing portfolio in this time. Wrote 2 books and started a blog. It lend me a job of content writing in a marketing firm. So yeah, by taking a break from work, I was able to make a big switch from my old IT job into a field that I really like i.e. writing. Apart from that I enjoyed a lot by travelling, reading, philosophizing, learning public speaking, playing games, cooking, and what not. Yes, I had pretty good amount of savings to do all that. But its also true that I end up using just 20% of what I had saved for my break. Overall, it was definitely worth it.
