Wildlife of South Bingera

I created this video to showcase some of the wildlife diversity of South Bingera QLD. Most of these photographs were taken on the fire trail where I walk from my home, the rest were taken in my back yard. This is not comprehensive, there are many more animals to still photograph and add.

Travelling up to Cooktown to do some wildlife photography. Hoping to find some Cophixalus frogs which were well and truly hiding, so I'll have to go back, yet I am pleased with how some of the other photographs turned out. Enjoy some of the remarkable wildlife and scenery of a special part of Queensland.

Cape York Frogging Trip Chapter 3 Cape Melville
มุมมอง 2533 ปีที่แล้ว
It had long been a fantasy of mine to visit the incredibly remote boulder mountains of Cape Meliville. Without knowing what kind of success we would have and knowing that researchers that explore this mountain get in and out by hellicopter we took the risk to see where we could get to by car. This night became my major highlight destination of the whole trip and a place I can't wait to get back...

The Journey continues on this wildlife photography trip targeting frogs as Ben and Jono push up from Mackay into Northern Queensland. Experience the extrodinary Black Mountain by night. Be warned that this was the only night of the frogging trip where no frogs at all were found. But I hope you enjoy the other remarkable creatures of Black Mountain and Cedars bay.

@@mobilitybaka Thanks mate. We have two species of frogs that keep their tadpoles in little pouches on their hips. Assa darlingtoni and Assa woolumbin. They are called marsupial frogs or punched frogs or hip pocket frogs. They are the three common names I can think of for them.

Amazing capture! That looks like a sizable frog (do you know what kind?) caught staring deep down its captor's throat here! I can only imagine what the potential meal is thinking at this moment. 😧🐸😅 It looks quite desperate here, I’m guessing no one reached out, pulling the frog to save its life?? So could the hungry Snake manage to win the struggle and gulp that whole prey down entirely okay?? It also looks like the amphibian is defensively puffing out to prevent sliding down further. If eaten, does the unlucky thing get swallowed live all the way as well?! It looks so big still, maybe this isn’t the last for the frog and it can somehow survive the encounter?

Would have been about thigh deep. The tide was mostly out I think.

Great footage Ben. In the early 1990s I found some Crinia deserticola at Buxton. At the time, the best field guide said their distribution was western Queensland - not coastal. I rang a frog expert at the museum and he said "the maps are all wrong." He had seen them at Rainbow Beach.

Thanks Carl. There seems to be a section of land between here and rocky where some of the western species touch the coast. Ive seen albogutatta, salmini and rugosa in the Busby region. Ive seen photos of brevipes too.
