Stuff like this just makes it a self fulfilling prophecy for people with no friends to sway away from wanting to improve since they believe that there’s no hope. There’s plenty of reasons why someone can have no friends: lack of social skills (but is willing to try), what they’d categorize as a friendship, doesn’t go outside but is dying to do so if able to find people to go with, maybe a job that is mostly remote or individual work, not involved in communities, etc. Instead of spreading hopelessness for those who don’t why don’t we try to have compassion instead. Sure there’s plenty of people with no friends who are possibly mentally ill and other sorts but there’s also good people out there who don’t have anyone, who just need some encouragement and not be categorized as a red flag. That’s just going to make them want to become a “red flag” and diminish their chances even more. Im in the situation of not having friends, and it’s my fault. I just can’t find connection with anyone but I’m trying my best to make myself more competent and valuable to those around me. I didn’t attend college and went into the trades instead. That right there diminished my chances of finding people my age to connect with since I’m around older folks all the time. I recently lost touch with my previous friends due to different life goals and the business that comes with life as well. I also struggle a little bit to hold conversations due to low self esteem coming from being boring. I think people like these two are red flags. Self-absorbed, egotistical, clearly narcissistic and self proclaimed know-it-alls. Imagine stilling in some dungeon studio, judging people, on someone’s life without knowing anything about what happed in that persons life. Did that person have severe mental health problems? Does the person have trust issues because of some trauma they had? And social media?! Who the fu*k should give 2 💩 about social media??
