What god dam buttons?
What would cause this boiler to keepp tripping the consumer and blowing the fuses
It's likely the heating element if it is related only to the boiler. But if you have a complex system such as a y or s plan or any other complex setup, it could be one of those parts too. Electrical checks can be made to determine which part is causing it to trip.
@anthropologyoflife Thanks as its only 3 years old prior to that the pcb blew.

Hello sir Thanks for very informative video i have same boiler so we don't have hot water and overheat demand is red light is solid last night. So please can you help me for how to do fix it. Thank you
Hi .was it the display board or the pcb board ?
The pcb board.
Thank you! exactly what I was looking for!
Hi Have u ran a 3core flex cable to a wiring centre? And does it require a programmer?
The old system had a programmer and a thermostat. I replaced it with Hive Hot Water and Heating. In the video the boiler was wired to to the old system. The way it was set up it only required a single cable for switch live.
How do I get my thermostat back out of pairing mode
Hi Hez. Try taking one battery out if resetting does not work.
hello, for how a long should i turn on please because i left for 24h because i didn’t know and i spent 800kwh for just one month! thank you
Good day, if you don't have a timer to control water heating, I would get one installed. Manually, you should not need more than 3/4 hours to get the cylinder heated. Heating is separate from hot water. You would need a timer for the heating too. Controlling it manually is not the most relaxing activity. Automation is the way forward. If you have existing timer, setting timings to suit your lifestyle would help you save energy and money.
@@marnonboilers hi there, what is this timer please!? Do you mean the thermostat controller!?thanks
Thermostat controls temperature. It may be part of a programmer. It depends on a set up. Programmer/timer controls times when the boiler is on. When combined in one device, they control both timings and temperature. I hope that answers your question.
Sounds great 👍
Thanks that helped

Do you need to turn the boiler off/isolate the electrics before taking off the panel and doing anything with it?
Yes, but it depends on who is working on it. A tradesman qualified to work on these boilers would turn off the boiler before taking a case off. Then check for any loose wiring or any apparent issues such as missing earth. Then turn it on to carry out some tests. I would not recommend anyone getting involved doing "anything" with it without proper training. :)
@marnonboilers thanks mate. My pressure gauge for the heating is at 0, could I not even turn that black knob at the bottom to get it up to 1.5 or do I need to get someone in? Having trouble finding people willing to do it and heatrae sadia are useless
@expertmongin You can turn off the electrical supply to the boiler and then top it up. Boiler does not need power for that purpose. The topping up valves may leak due to old age, but not always.
Its got a tank and 1 valves it's not heating only.
I have this boiler and it is tripping the RCD when the off-peak immersion switches on. Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot/fix this, or do I need to get an electrician round to take a look?
Good day. This is a tricky situation. I would say calling an electrician would be a good idea as tripping the rcd may not be caused by the off-peak immersion. It may be triggered by the load on the immersion heater, but it may not be the cause of the fault.
Curious to know what the outcome of this was.
I have this system and it costs about £5 an hour to run. Nobody knows how to work it, heating engineer couldn’t figure it out…what zone 1&2 are, if you can have hot water without heating and vice versa. Thing is a mystery.
Hi baz2487, it depends how it is configured. It is difficult to comment without looking at the system.
My thermostat is slightly different looking but I held the two buttons (bottom left and centre) and followed all your steps; I had to do it three times before it paired again with the receiver. Thanks so much :)
Very helpful video many thanks.
Many thanks. ☺️
1 year ago, 23p per KWh where?
The answer hides in the detail. The Russians invaded Ukraine on 24 Feb 2022, I posted the video on 21 Fed 2022. The invasion was the biggest trigger to high energy prices. The video was made before the invasion, and as a result, the prices were before the invasion. We have to consider the fact that not everyone pays the same price for energy because rates vary. I based my assumption on energy prices paid by some customers in the North West at the time of the video.
What room stat is compatible please
Any room stat can be arranged to be compatible.
That will pair it in standalone mode
Hi Where is the earth cable terminal I’m having difficulty to find it
It’s on the heating element on left hand side on top 🔝, there are two elements one is for hot water and another one is for heating, if you see main black heating element on top 🔝 left side corner you will see earth mark
how to increase pressure for this boiler? thank you
There could be a few setups for the pressure top up, but usually, there is a filling loop. The filling loop usually has 2 valves with black levers and a flexible silver braded pipe connecting them (typically 15mm in diameter). You need to open one first and then open the next slightly to start topping up. The pressure should be 1.5 bar in the system. I hope that helps.
Nothing but agro
Yes it was more complicated than an s plan for example.
Hello, we have I think the same problem but we don’t know how to fix it exactly can you help us can you send me your phone number thank you
Hi so I have this boiler but the temperature gets to 65 degrees and then drops to 15 degrees why is this please.
Hi Steven. Does it drop instantly? Or is it gradual? Is the water flow constant when the boiler is on and brings the temp to 65?
@marnonboilers hi thank you for your response. It gets to 65 then starts to drop every second until it get to 15 degrees. Then it starts thr process again.
@Steven Grimshaw That is a difficult one to reply to without observing a few more factors. I would check the settings against the manufacturer's instructions first. If you don't have a manual, try searching online for one. If they are set correctly, then I would check the pump and the flow switch. They are responsible for bringing the boiler on, distributing heat and keeping it on at desired temperature (which is preset).
great info 👌
Mate how do you reset this boiler?
Hi Sergen. There are a few steps. First, turn off the power supply. You would need to check for why the alarm was triggered such as low water pressure in the system. Hot water can be reset by pressing a reset button on the immersion heater thermostat.
😓 promo sm!
Well, you need a transformer to get the tyre pump down to12v. Baxi/Main are a pain as the valve is on the top of the expansion. Ideal put it straight in front of you and it's so much easier. I had a little 90degree adaptor that fitted on Baxis and I used a simple hand pump attached to that. It's a bit more pumping, but it's there in my tool kit all the time as it's quite small. I don't suppose it matters as long as it does the job 👍
Hi, I have this boiler and suddenly have no hot water unless I use the booster button. 🤷🏼♂️
Hi Jamie. Possibly off peak switch failed. But there could be a different fault such as the element failed or a wire burnt off on the thermostat.
@@marnonboilers Thank you. I’ve got someone coming tmw. 👍🏼
I undertand that you would have to top-up the water via filling loop and stop when pressure is within acceptable range on the gauge but do you have to re-pressurise the expansion vessel after a drain? or did you mea to just check it was at correct bar? Thanks
Hi Dr Stacker. Once the boiler is drained the vessel is pressurise to 1 bar. Sometimes the expanssion vessel has the correct pressure (on newish boilers). On rare occasions the connecting pipe between the vessel and the boiler get blocked due to lack of water circulation and dirty ch system especially on older boilers that have not been serviced for many years. This is what I really check for. I tap on the expanssion vessel with a screwdriver handle to check if it sounds hollow that is it is not full of water but I do it during a gas safety check. If it is not hollow it is one of the pointers that the boiler requires a service and I make recommendations to customers accordingly.
Success.. Yes this is always a great feeling, I've been an Hvac installer since1990's. Never seen a storm unit. Looks like a small heat exchanger on a 1" single zone system. Is this not in AMERICA?? Will be looking into these units now, what's the BTU's on that unit 45,000? Thanx for the content, all the best
Hi James. You must have seen a lot of interesting systems during your journey. It was an interesting experience for me to fix it. It is in Merseyside, UK. This one is 37,500 or 11 kw. Thank you for your comment.
Good morning. My mother has this same boiler in her apartment. She complains that the hot water is very hot. Can you advise me on how to lower the temperature please. Thanks in advance. Dave
Hi Dave. The thermostat on the off peak (bottom immersion heater) is turned too high. If she uses boost for hot water it would be the boost (top immersion heater) that is turned too high.
@@marnonboilers . Thank you very much for that. Very prompt. I’m impressed. I’ll have a look when I go down on Thursday. Cheers. Dave
@marnonboilers hi, how do you go about turning the temperature down?
Hello, Very informative video thankyou, I have an issue with mine at the moment, I've got hot water but no heating, thermostat is clicked on, but no hot water going to the radiators, the rectangle green heat light comes on for about 10 seconds then goes back off, is that enough info for you to be able to help? I live rural and trying to get a plumber is impossible, I am capable to do repairs but I'm not familiar with these systems at all. Thanks again
Thank you. There could be a few common issues cussing no hot water. First, it could be a failed off peak switch near the boiler which supplies the bottom immersion heater. Second, the thermostat (inside the immersion heater) could have disengaged due to overheating and needs resetting or replacing. I would recommend to call an electrician unless you are competent as working with electricity is dangerous.
@@marnonboilers thankyou very much, I am terrible with electrics so I will have a search, thanks again and I will update you when it is resolved
Hello again, An update on before it seemed to correct itself. But wondered if you could help with a new issue I have with it, The pump doesn't seem to be kicking in when the thermostat is switched on. Upstairs radiators get boiling hot but the downstairs get cold, could this be just down to hot water rising, My landlord has bought a new pump kit as that's what he thinks it is, he's not local so can't help physically, Just wondering if you have any idea based on symptoms, Thanks again
@@Turbofab Hi Scott. It depends what is on the system. There could be any of the following. If there are zone valves for upstairs and downstairs, than the one that controls downstairs is shut/faulty. There could be an air lock. It is possible that the pump is faulty. The radiators may not be balanced. There could be insufficient water in the system. Radiator valves are stuck. Blockage in the system. You would need to work through these possibilities. First, I would make sure there are no separate zones for upstairs and downstairs, than bleed the radiators, than close all radiators but one and check if the pump is able to deliver heat to the ones downstairs. That can give you an idea about the state of the pump. If only some radiators heat, it could be that the pump is weak. Than I would check the pump for strength and resistance (newer pumps would not show resistance). Replace the pump and check again. Finally I would balance the radiators by turning up or down lockshield valves making sure the ones that heat up the quickest are turned down and the ones that heat up slowest are turned up so the flow is balanced. I hope that helps.
Hi there! Would like to ask, why the water keeps dropping in system and how to rise it. Thank u
Hi. You would need to pull off the bottom panel in order to access the filling loop. The panel sits on some clips which may be a little still. I hope that helps.
@@marnonboilers I did found them and my flat is warm again! Thank u ! 🤩🤗
I JUST bought one. how long does it take to heat up the underfloor heating?
Hi there, thanks for this video. I have just moved into a flat with this boiler installed. I am getting hot water but no central heating. I have the correct pressure, bled all rads, i have set thermostat high enough so it’s calling for heat. Any suggestions?
Hi Jason, can you hear the pump running? It may have seized or failed.
@@marnonboilers no I can’t hear anything discernible near the pump.
@@LegendaryCoxyy You would need to test power supply to the pump. If there is power supply to the pump but it does not turn, than work on the pump usually replacing it but could just be stuck. If no power even when demand is on, you will need to establish why that is the case.
@@marnonboilers the pump does get warm and pipes both sides of it get warm too.
@@LegendaryCoxyy That can happen even when the pump is not running. I would check if pump is receiving power.
Thanks for very informative video.I have had electro max for abt 9 years. I have day night tariff and recently my night usage is higher than my day .No heating on just water. Using about 8 kw units per night. Seems high, wonder if time either update or replace boiler
Thank you for your question. Your boiler has a 3kw immersion heater to heat 180 liter cylinder. It can take up to 4 hours to achieve that. It seems that your cylinder requires almost 3 hours to reach set temperature (8 units / 3 kw ), which should be approx 65 degrees Celsius. 8 kw units seems pretty good. If your tariff is about 0.15 pence per kw hour than £1.2 for your hot water seems like a typical expense for this type of system. The cylinder has a lifespan of about 30 years. I would not rush to replace the boiler (which has the integrated cylinder). Daytime tariff can be expensive and if you are used to putting heating on and some other electric appliances on during the day your daytime tariff could have been significantly higher. It is possible that you only noticed that the night tariff is higher than the day tariff because you do not put heating on which consumes a significant amount of units. You could look at historical night tariff trend of kw units to check if there was a change over time.
The circulator makes vibrating sound
There seems to be a blockage. That could happend because your heating is on but your radiator valves are closed and there is no bypass. If your boiler has a filter perhaps it needs clearing out. These are some of the reasons why the circulator vibrates more than usual.
Mate you shouldnt be putting videos like this on youtube. Your gonna making customers do this themselves and make things worse
Really? There are people who do that and they are very well known in the industry. For example, Allen Heart and there is a link for your reference; th-cam.com/video/heKZS5qzIl8/w-d-xo.html. You may get bored posting your comment on every video that appears. There are very good comments below with other engineers' suggestions of how to approach this in a different way. Unqualified people are not allowed to work on gas appliances but who is to say they are not allowed to find out what may be done to their boiler by people who are.
Not once did you say only gas safe registered personnel should work on gas appliances. The people who do this on youtube are doing this for money. You need about 5000 subscribers to make some money on here so dont waste your time mate as you hardly have any. Plus you need to do max, then min, then max again, you just cant cut corners. As per manufactures instructions, boiler needs to be on for 10 minutes before you do these tests, so you instruct the customer to turn heating off 2 hours before you arrive. How can you service a boiler properly if its hot, your guestimating the pressure of the system if heating has been on, you get there and you drain boiler. I have a family and kids that i like to spend time with or else i could of made a killing teaching people how to fix gas appliances on this platform. I dont mind the lads putting plumbing stuff on coz its not regulated, but gas is a different story.
Would not recommend this. You should have a hose that gets outside. £200 pcb below .
Hi John. Have you blown one up using this method? In my experience, I never had an issue. However there is a potential problem when the condensate pipe is blocked. I would always check that first. It gets better with practice.
@@marnonboilers no I haven't, but I would use common sense and not risk it.

Hi thanks for this informative video I have same boiler and sometimes hot water comes and sometimes not at all Them I have to press boost button and after one hour hot water comes again What could be the issue ? Thanks
Hi Malik. Thank you for your question. It is likely that the off peak immersion has tripped. The causes for the tripping could be wear and tear that resulted in leaking or safety mechanism loses heat tolerance capacity.
@@marnonboilers I have a similar issue. If the off peak immersion has tripped do I need to re-set the thermal cut-out on the thermostat and set to position 4 to 5? Thanks
@Steffan Raw-Rees Yes. That can help but I would plan to replace the thermostat as tripping may continue.
