That derailleur looks crazy. Is there any benefit other then I would guess foldability to having the tension wheel be its own arm and the guide wheel been separate?

Totally legit comparison. Shifts down so it looks worse and then compared it to shifting up. I can do this with uber budget as well. Even a cheap chinese casette will shift up better than an xtr casette down.
One is dirty af and full of grease while the second one is fresh and clean😅
