Each project produced here is the result of a passion. Passion for the material being used, the process through which it is made, or even better yet... a combination of the two. I've been a crafter for as long as I can remember. My mother taught me to sew at the ripe young age of 4, and there was hardly a weekend I wasn't playing in the sawdust coating the floor of my fathers workshop. Making something from nothing is simply in my genes.
The name Katchi Vatchi originates from my grandmother. It pretty much means "stuff” but its the term she used to refer to all the sentimental knickknacks that make a house a home.
For me Katchi Vatchi is everything I love and nothing I need. It is the little things that you can do without, but also the things that make living so very lovely.
I aim to take the everyday "stuff" all around us and find in it art and beauty. Art comes in so many forms and Katchi Vatchi is simply my expression of it.

Singer 4432 “Heavy Duty” has seized up twice. It’s only 3 months old!!
Great content, I appreciate the honesty of getting the right tool for the job when it comes to sewing machines.
Hey thank you so much this was very useful.
Just ran into this problem this morning so I hope I can use your info to finish my quilt today. I have the exact machine that you have with pro stitcher but I’m so new to the long arm machine quilting. I have so much learning to do! Thank you!
You are so right. Wish I saw your video before buying one. Its nowhere near heavy duty. I had a regular singer that did a better job. I bought into the heavy duty.
Hi. So you’re saying i can download an image like from design from juju and stitch it out directly from my phone and connect to my babylock machine? I don’t have a computer either but would sure like more fonts n images
Singer went chapter 23, this is only as good as anything else off alibaba. It's not for sails. Pointless
Very good tutorial on sewing a T-Shirt quilt. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I am getting ready to make one for my granddaugher. She wants a wall hanging, she surprised me when she asked me to make her one, and handed me 6 T-Shirts. They are her most favorite from her high school years, when I told her 6 T-shirts will make a small quilt she was happy with that. You provided me with a couple of ideas to add to the creative thoughts spinning in my head - going to check with her if she has any badges or patches for the border. I would take your suggestion and sew them on after I have quilted it.
Finally somebody telling the truth
Womp Womp, go next. No actual sewing examples or use cases, just a 🦛 yapper whos venting outside of an amazon review.
Total nonsense misinformation by Americans as usual (most who have never left their state, never mind their country.... 🤡) Got 3 of them, no problems
I saw another video testing various sewing machine brands. From what I gathered, the Brother sewing machines are good compared to other brands. What do you think?
Thank you for this useful information. I like that you state the information as what it is. Thank you for doing the research.
It just offers the most for he price. It has nothing to do with "HD". So people will keep buying into it because it's worth it.
Your Ignorant statement kilt this pathetic channel. Lol
Would hate all that you sayin, before experiencing consequences of sawing awning for 2nd time. One out of time, Singer Heavy Duty always out of time.
Most helpful video I have found! So glad I found you before I made a purchase. Thank you!
Appreciate your honesty. We bought an extremely well reviewed machine off Amazon (4.7 rating, five stars) and we were shocked to discover the way it was struggling to sew 3 folded satin. I wasted a lot of time reading/watching misleading reviews.
what thread do you use for embroidery for this machine?
I got one for my birthday as my first sewing machine. had it for over a year now and haven't finished a single thing with it because it just sucks. Yes, I am new to sewing but when I tell you there was problem after problem after problem. The worst part was the problem was always the same. It would tear through fabric whenever I tried serging the ends with a zig zag stich despite the fact I did test run literally 5 seconds ago and changed nothing, it would still get the fabric stuck in the machine. Maybe it's the fabric? well, every single test run I've done with this thing it works just fine but on the actual project itself it just doesn't do anything right. it's unpredictable and honesty the most annoying thing ever. Sometimes it messes up completely normal straight stiches.
I think it’s more to do with the motor size and not the power.
I had one of these machines. I inherited it from my mom. I was not pleased with how fast it deteriorated. She never got to use it before she passed away but refurbishing sewing machines. I have learned that you guys can find a Kenmore 158 model from the 1970s, especially a 158.1941 or a 158. 158. 1760 or 158. 1930 and there are many others. The 1760 the 1930 use cams. You can get flatbed and you can get free arm and I picked up mine for $100 or less with attachments. They're not hard to get running. They're in great shape and they do everything that the other sewing machine will do and then some and it's all metal. All the gears are metal. Everything's metal and I'm quite happy with my machines. They do everything I need them to do will ever want them to do and replacement parts are easy to find. Easy to come by and getting somebody to work on. It is just as hard as getting somebody to work on any of the other machines. Apparently there is a an extreme shortage of people who service and work on sewing machines because I have been asked by lots of people if I wouldn't mind servicing or fixing theirs but I do have plastic modern machines. They just don't hold up in my opinion to what some of the older vintage machines do and I have sewn leather with mine and thick material without a whole lot of issues. Mostly trying to get the material to lay the way I want it to not any with the machine
I sewed two tote bags with a Singer 4411 and I couldn't get it to work anymore unless my tension was set to max.
Wow! Sounds like you want to tear all machines down. No thanks! To each there own. I've had a Singer before you were borne n the Singer I'm wanting is to sews through several layers of jeans or thicker fabric. You helped me make my decision! 👍
Wow! You are CLUELESS and really aren't very educated on metal types and machine construction. You should give advice on something you know about instead of misleading jibber-jabber. th-cam.com/video/tImTTD8y750/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Hjz9uDIrdhz_X1Bc
Her opinion but singers last a very long time
Yeah, I'm here to say my 4423 from 2019 still am works. It has seen 8 layers of 11oz canvas.
I'm just going to drop this link of a legitimate review in here and if you decide to watch it I don't think you'll share her opinion. This guy is a repair technician and actually had the machine (imagine that) and tested it scientifically on camera. You cannot compare it to an industrial machine's capabilities, but it also is not sold as a commercial or industrial machine. It has plenty of needle punch for as much material as you can get under the foot. I've had one for years and done some pretty crazy stuff with it and never had more than a broken needle. Why slander a very capable and inexpensive machine? Was this just for views.... subscribers? th-cam.com/video/tImTTD8y750/w-d-xo.html
I thought this to be very insightful. As someone who has sewn professionally for 45 years she nailed a lot of the basics that you should look for in a machine. At work I use everything from Jukis to Consews. At home I have a vintage PFAFF 1209 w/ a 1 amp motor and an older style front load rotary hook bobbin case that I can actually use for light leather and millinery.
Why does this video still exist this chick doesn't even post anymore.. come on TH-cam be better
I have a singer 191B, a former glory of the 60' bought 35 € and this sewing machine is really heavy duty.
You really did forgot to say Brother sewing machine because they are very good products as well because I have a brother sewing machine
cap! misinformation! 4:53 the measured power draw for the ac motor is actually 0.8 A on its respective models. Proven by this guy! th-cam.com/video/tImTTD8y750/w-d-xo.html This guys breaks breaks down everything and actually knows what he is talking about!
4:55 If you say that you have "1 amp" of "power" only tells me that you don't understand physics. Watts is the unit for power, ampere is unit for current and as these machines use variable voltage, the amperage doesn't tell you much. What you really need for thick fabric would be torque and you cannot convert ampere or power to torque without knowing the gearing over the whole machine.
Back to sewing .... Thanks for the channel!
You should take this video down. It makes you look ignorant about the machine. The motor on the singer hd line is an .7 amp motor. With good gearing. And it is and has been shown to go through 10 layers of denim and leather. If you couldn't do it then you probably didn't have the proper needle in the machine to begin with.
it is a HEAVY-DUTY machine for its value and what it can do , the stiches it can accomplish. you are trying to compare a toyota sienna vs a ford 350. get a hair cut.
A lot of blah blah blah blah but you don't literally prove what you say. I have been working in this business for 25 years and I can tell you that this Singer machine is a warhorse and I can show you that.
Wow. This video really triggered some Singerheads🤣. She’s not wrong. It’s a basic machine being branded as more than that. That’s all. I appreciate the heads up👍
All's I want to do is sew minor things that can easily be done by hand sewing. Sometimes I wish the heavy-duty sewing machine would do the same. Never works!
Suspicious video, detailed teardowns by professional tecnicians clearly show it can sew through leather layers to the max height the machine can fit, without forcing the motor to go over amp and start burning out. Metal gears and parts across the entire drive train from power source to needle maintaining torque. The external shell can be removed in pieces to facilitate lubricating the components easily, it's designed with maintenance in mind. That's "heavy duty" to me for a consumer grade product...
Love your clear and precise information regarding density of our loved and laboring quilts! I’m on year four of making quilts, has become quite a passion for me, and try to sew a couple hours a day (yay! I’m a retired lady!). I do my own free motion quilting on my home machine on everything from table runners to queen size quilts! FMQing is actually my favorite part as I feel free to be creative!I Your video is one of my favorite! Thank you!
Dont confuse current with voltage. More current to a machine comes from the load its trying to achieve. Forcing a machine to punch through an object which its not able to do due to many layers will cause more current, which in turn will cause over heating.
Do I still need elastic thread?
I had been wondering about this product. I had a Singer from maybe 1995. I think my grandmother got it at Costco. Anyway, I almost quit sewing because the machine was so rickety and couldn't sew thin canvas for a basic tote bag. I got a used Bernina from the 1990s as well. The Bernina has been my go to machine for over a decade. In any event I don't trust Singer at all.
Great video so true. Wish I read this video before buying my sewing machine. Bought one should be called light duty.😂
Had my Singer HD for 3 years ... got nothing but praises for it and it is affordable and does what is says.
I just got a PR650 do you have videos for beginners
I loved your honest video. I have the juki pq1500sl. The juki 2020 looks like mine but is the 2020 a stronger machine? Like is it considered industrial?
Thanks for cutting through the marketing tactics and telling it like it is.
