How to replace a piece of vinyl siding
มุมมอง 9083 ปีที่แล้ว
Quick easy way to replace a piece of siding. Comment if there is anything more you’d like to see videos of
you did a great job of explaining and keeping it simple . Great job thank you
@RoyPetry no problem, glad I could help!
Thank you for the video. It really helped me and i just wanted to say thank you.
bottom corners have water rot as you can see ,you always rubber membrane 6 in before installing j channel
I was hesitant about doing the jtrim, came across your video, and banged the job like a pro. Thanks bud.
@@walleyehunter1972 that's awesome! I'm really glad I could help.
Great tutorial video! I wished I found your video before putting on J channels on two windows. I might redo again as I am not 100% sure if it's correct.
Nice
@@todc8986 thanks
My question is, "What are all the pieces of siding on that wall? Someone wants you to put tyvek on, but there is siding in the way. Kinda looks like an elephant... Lol
Dude. Your methods are best. The J channel stays locked in, ready for nails. Thanks much.
I appreciate you taking the time and watching the video. Glad it helped you!
Thank you for this video. May I ask you how much the window has to stick out of the ODSB board to allow proper matching with the J-channel? Also what nails I should use for the siding installation on the 1/2-inch ODSB wall? The siding nails in Home Depot are 2-1/2 and 2 1/4 inches loos too long for me.
Tyvek
Thank you I haven't done siding in a long time and I couldn't remember how I made the nice clean angles on my J channel and this popped up. you helped me out Big time👍👍👍
I'm glad I could help out. Thanks for watching my video
Would you measure over 6 inches for a 6 inch gutters? And what if I was doing a 22.5 degree angle
Yes sir you would
That would be for a bay miter at the 22.5 angle
Nice job but did anyone see the butthole bong in the window?…🫣
No flashing?
We wrapped the window and caulked it so they wasn't a need for the flashing
??????
☔️ seems like something is missing
Thanks for watching. I don't believe anything is missing, but if you have suggestions you'd like to add in by all means do so. Everyone is different on how they do things I was just showing how I do the j-channel.
Right on dude thanks
Thank you for watching my video
Appreciate u showing your technique! Awesome corners!
Thanks for watching
Don't want to be negative, but like other comments you need some house wrap and could use flashing tape around those windows. I also noticed that you seem to be hammering those nails all the way?! This is a big no no. If you are actually leaving the proper gap you should mention to the viewer to not do the nails ( tight)
Sorry about the confusion ( I thought that every thing vynyl was supposed to move! I have not done any installation yet! Glad I double checked Again My Bad and apologies!
@@CharlesHupe I appreciate you watching the video
You can absolutely nail j channel tight. Have done thousands of houses. Learn before you leap
Where’s the house wrap? Where does the water go? The j channel channels it right behind the siding below the window- yikes!
Thanks for watching the video the siding is designed with weep hole so that moisture can escape. We also used foam back on this house wrapped the windows and sealed everything off.
You should probably wrap the windows first, bending a nail flange on your metal opposed to just bending metal and just sliding it in between the j-channel. That's one of the biggest no-no's in siding. You're guaranteed to end up with rotting wood trim. Or you can go the other route...try your best and caulk the rest lol.
@ 2:15 for example...are you seeking to nail into underlayment or do you seek positively a stud ??
There is studs that frame out the window so you nail into solid wood
Well done! I've probably scoured over about a dozen of such videos. I will use this techniques. Thank you for making it
Hey thanks for watching glad I can help. It takes time but the end product is amazing!
What a method! You just helped a first timer outshine a seasoned builder and window installer. Mine looks infinitely more professional than theirs!!! Thank you for sharing this.
I'm glad that it was able to help. I've done this kind of work for a long time and this is a method I picked up from a guy that I worked for and I loved it ever since. Same way I teach the guys that work for me. Thank you very much for watching the video and your comment I really appreciate it!!
Gr8!!!!
YOU ARE AWESOME 👌 👏 👍
Great job! Clear simple no need to over talk or over explain!! Outstanding!!
Thanks I appreciate you watching my video. Good luck to you.
Thanks. I like this
Hey thanks for watching
Best j channel corner vid I have seen and I watched a few for corners
I glad it helped. I really appreciate you watching!!
No flip nails bud? Every video tryn to tell me how to install j n nt a one flip nail Unreal in north jersey or ny ud gt kickd off job nt using flip nails
Bud is this a video of how to or how not to
You could do it this way but you then have water leaking behind your siding if you don't caulk it or caulk goes bad. Do it the proper way and no caulk needed and one less step. I'm replacing the entire outside wall, insulation, and damage inside of house because the owner of the house I bought did it exactly this way. Guess where all the water goes when it rains, behind the siding and inside the wall once it's all rotted away. Much better, and correct method IMO of how to do it. Done it this way for years, no caulk needed and no water issues. th-cam.com/video/gmiN3BnOu3w/w-d-xo.html Just my opinion from 3 generations of family construction.
Another video: th-cam.com/video/geQVbvuiNw0/w-d-xo.html
I've never had a water problem before doing it this way. I appreciate you watching and commenting.
That guy does nice work good job
His corner fits will separate and look bad. There is a much better way.
I'd love to see the better way can you post a video for me?
@14:00 bro i was hammering all morning came in and seen this and went back out and what do you know hitting the nail does help. Finally im am done hammering
Thanks for showing how to do corners I'm a rookie putting siding up.
Hey thanks for watching! We all gotta start somewhere. I'm greatful this is helping people
So is he
Why is the siding not stacked and why the seams lining up that's not good
That's just drop in foam there's no siding on the wall
Nice job and thanks for sharing your excellent technique! I’m using it to install a subpanel box. That 45 corner bit I had to watch a few times, and then just go for it. It worked out. thx again.
Hey I appreciate it!! Sometimes it takes a little bit to get it down I'm really glad it worked for you!! Thanks for watching!
Great technique! I’m installing a patio French door and this will certainly come in handy
Thanks. I appreciate you watching my video
Look very nice boss
Finally someone who knows how to install j channel!!!
Thanks for watching my video
My guy! You clearly have no idea what your doing lol! Starter's where's the tyvek or black paper? Wow! Stay home.
Thanks for watching my video anyways
Nice and clean. I do mine the same way I jusyvdont measure anything makes it lol quicker.
What, no backer?...
is it just me or does anybody see the statue of the ass mooning us in the window lol
I like it
Thanks
I like the way you do your corners. I'll have to try that next time we do siding.
Hey thanks for watching. I picked up this technique a long time ago from a guy I worked with. I loved the end result so I kept doing it like this. Leaves a nice finish.
But the top corner should not be tucked under the sides. Not sure what he did as the details weren't visible.
How do you not ice and water the window and the plywood and It then cap it With a flange on the outside then J channel Not good my friend
First I'd like to thank you for taking the time and watching my video. We do wrap and seal the window after. I understand that is not how you do which is cool. Everyone has there own way on doing things. I can also only do what the contractor and homeowner agreed upon. Again thanks for watching.
You didn’t wrap the plywood or wilndow with ice and water or something at least cap the window before you j it terrible bro
He could be in a different part of the country. Might not need it. 🤷🏽♂️ but your right.
I appreciate you watching the video. We capped the window sealed it. Plus we also use a drop in backer. The contractor didn't sell the job with house wrap. In this video I'm just showing how I j. At that point was not a finished product.
Where's the underlayment.?
The under layment is a drop in. So it goes on as you're installing it.
@@haroldcrandall3445 Did you not see the water stains on the lower corners of the window plywood! Install the underlayment first then the j-channel. Also install the first j under the window then the siding then the sides j so that the lower j edge is over the lap joint of siding so the water won't channel behind the siding.
I did see the water spot which was a problem with the original siding. I can't force anyone to put house wrap on. Was a subcontractor on that job. The siding also have weep holes on the panels which is designed to let water escape if for any reason did happen. I always do the bottom first then the sides then the top. I appreciate you taking the time to watch my video.
