Hi everyone!
I hope you enjoy this channel and find many of the various engineering topics helpful and if you have any requests for problems/additional topics please let me know and I would be happy to create a video.
Here are the links to the free textbooks that I have written and am using for many of my lecture notes:

note there was an error int he construction of the contingency table, the list should have been cf[1], of[1], wf[1], .....
Quality content. I could get a better understanding of Carothers equation. Much appreciate!
Thanks!!!!!
amazing video!
Thanks so much!!!
Brother, I wish you nothing but the best in making this god-tier video.
Thanks!! Glad you found this helpful.
For the first right-tailed example I mispoke, we are indeed in the do-not reject regime, the p-value is greater than alpha which is 0.01 for this example!
What is Epsilon and Gamma??
Epsilon and Gamma are literally just solid distinct phases in phase diagram, it could indicate a BCC, FCC, HCP, etc structure. The big thing in a phase diagram anything other than L is some sort of solid phase.

Why don`t you use select from dplyr instead?
Nice work and great explanation.
Please how can we get that text you’re displaying?
eng.libretexts.org/Sandboxes/joshua-steimel-9121/Mechanics_and_Science_of_Materials Here is the textbook!!
How do I know if the parameter N is big enough? fs has to be be at least 2f, but what about N?
Your selection of N is dependent on the frequency you need to resolve, i.e. spectral leakage, so if you need to be able to see frequencies of 0.1Hz for example you must select your fundamental frequency, i.e. 1/T, such that it is at least 0.1Hz, then you can relate your fundamental frequency and period, T=Ndelt, and pick your N value to make sure it gives you your required fundamental frequency. Does this make sense?
Quick comment, there is a mistake in the engraving step, need to make sure operation is cut so it actually cuts and does not just extrude out.
Really helpful, thank you!
So glad that was helpful!!
Sound is TERRIBLE
thankyou it helped, but if doping is via interstitial defect wont oxygen atom too go into interstitial site?
It definitely can you can write a defect that includes an impurity oxygen interstitial.
@@jsteimel57 okay thanks
I have no idea how to create Do loops or For loops in Mathematica containing many many many many different functions and operations including plotting within that loop. I've struggled for 6 months, and before that for 34 years (when I entered graduate school in mathematics in 1988) though I did use Mathematica a little bit 1997 to 2000 on a Student License for my Math PhD work. I never figured out how to use TeX or LaTeX after 34 years. It simply does not work.
Thanks professor, this video helped me a lot. The title also is very eyecatching.
Thanks! I am glad it is helpful and hopefully it will clarify the process of solving these types of problems!
thx dr. josh pa...!
What book are these lectures based off of? Thank you in advance.
Hello! These are based on my textbook that you can access here eng.libretexts.org/Courses/California_State_Polytechnic_University_Humboldt/Mechanics_and_Science_of_Materials. I hope this is helpful!
THANK YOU
You are very welcome!
I am working with three polymers in a blend and I also took into account a similar entropic equation but in addition to the segment number in the denominator I also multiplied it with the segmental volume.
best Teacher Ever!
Thank you!!!
Cool!
Glad you enjoyed the video!!
Any way of showing how to get biaxial extension (ax=ay=a)?
You may find this video to be helpful with that. Thanks! th-cam.com/video/3VpJs_KSKIQ/w-d-xo.html
Is it possible to read in a json file and assign the elements to a variable in mathematical?
I have never personally tried but I imagine it would be possible to do so.
Are you sure your correction to the relaxation time is correct? Shouldn't the units be seconds? If viscosity is on the bottom, then the unit becomes 1/s.
The relation time tau=eta/E and the units of viscosity are Pa.s and the units of E is Pa so that would give units of s and thus relaxation time. Does that make sense?
many typographical mistakes otherwise content is good
Thanks!
if you're reading this comment go study for exam 1
You'll all do great!!! No worries!!

Note there is an error in the planar density calculation for 5 there should be 1 atom in the plane.
I dont think the rstatix package exists anymore, is there another package that I could use instead? I am not able to perform the df_select function
It's still working for me but if you want to extract values form a column here is a great resource with options: www.datanovia.com/en/lessons/select-data-frame-columns-in-r/
Thankyou
How do get the scale bar to determine the amount of displacements?
It will be given in pixels and then if you have a conversion factor you can convert to meters. Does that help?
How you find the composition of liquid which is 0,1 at 4:40 min ?
When you have a composition that is in a two phase region you can find the composition of each phase at a fixed temperature by drawing an isotherm to the liquidus or solid phase line on the phase diagram and then trace down to the x-axis of composition to find the composition. For the fractions in each phase you have to use the lever rule which is a bit counter intuitive. Does this make sense?
How would you go about doing something that does not flex like 1in x 12in x 12in 6061 AL?
Thank you. But I came here for the example of Peritectoid reaction.
There should be some examples in another video please check them out in my playlists.
@@jsteimel57 Oh thanks for the quick reply
@@jsteimel57 I have checked your other video on NiTi phase diagram, can you clarify my doubt, Why is martensitic NiTi phase (B19') being an intermetallic so ductile?
I love you
I am glad you found this helpful!!!!
I went to school with this genius.

Thank you very much, it comes very handy along with gtsummary
Should the distributed load equation for the rightmost force be 1N * δ(x - 3L/4) rather than L/4? I'm assuming our x-axis is oriented with x = 0 being at the left wall and x = L at the right wall.
Yes great catch!! That sure shows me for trying to solve this too quickly....
Helped a lot
Fantastic glad it helped!
Good evening sir, sir how can i send a mathematica code to another person by mail bcoz my mathematica code is in mathematica software
That is a very common problem you can save it as a text file in notepad and then send it. Or you can use the mathematica cloud services to share the entire notebook.
pretty good
Thanks glad you found it helpful!!
Hi! I'm trying to implement the example in minute 4 on comsol , but i get an error. Are you familiar with comsol ?
Unfortunately I am not as familiar with comsol so I don't think I can be of too much help.
thank you very much
I'm very glad you found this helpful!!!

Very helpful video. You made it very easy to understand! Thank you!
Very happy that you find this video to be helpful!!
You explain phase diagrams better than anyone. I think I might be in love!
Thank you very much and I hope that this was helpful!!
@@jsteimel57 I did my best to use different wording to explain it to the students, hoping for more understanding. Sadly, it is an 8am class and I got blank stares.
