After 44 years of training in martial arts, including Japanese jujitsu, BJJ, MMA, Muay Thai, Krav Maga, Systema, TKD, Karate, Judo, boxing, Olympic and catch wrestling, then applying it all as a street cop for 20 years in some of the most violent places on earth, I disagree with you. I can see what you are saying, yes, we can play a sport as a martial art and there is nothing wrong with that. My view and this is just language I am choosing to express myself, is that you can have a sport within a martial art, something that is a part of the overall practice, but it can never be a martial art if it is just a sport. A martial art must have a combat orientated objective. Sports BJJ is not a martial art, whereas Gracie Jujitsu is. What is depicted is in this video is more applicable to combat effectiveness than sports BJJ. The reason mostly being that it is more diverse and in a combat situation you don’t want to spend too long on the ground, there has to be a sense of urgency to win as fast as possible….of course in a controlled manner and not a desperate manner that exposes you to being swept or caught in a submission.

Ju jutsu

Yes it does, because Ju Jutsu is a mix of Judo, japanese Jiu Jitsu and Shotokan Karate, invented by a german police officer

@@Haddomne That makes no sense whatsoever. Judo came after ju jitsu, so how can jujitsu possibly be a mix of judo and other things? And BJJ cam after judo.

Very good question. The current interpretation of rules says that you can score just once per engagement. It means that only one hit will be scored even if you hit your opponent few times. So after scoring points you can go back to longer distance and start another action in engagment or you can grab a grip and do the grappling/judo part. This interpretation of the rules was applied to make scoring more clear for the viewers. Before that referees used to give points for every single hit, what was difficult, because it's impossible to notice every ippon or wazari in the action that contains tens of hits, so that caused many controversial decisions back then.

This is not old style of japanese jujitsu. In Italy it is called Modern JuJitsu and is the evolution of the Metodo Bianchi, originally style of self defense, I dont Know the origin in other european cpuntries

It actually is. You are probably thinking of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This is the competition fighting style of Japanese Ju-Jitsu in the JJIF.

@@SimonAttenberger I spoke about the JJ in Italy. Ancient style as Yoshin or Hakko or Daitoryu dont prepare athletes for this competition. BJJ is different. I believe that in this compettions not have partecipation of Japanese team.

@giacomopriano4758 ok, I understand what you mean. Still characterising this style as "not Jiu-Jitsu" would be a "no true scotsman". It may not be the same as some of the ancient styles, but so where they, since they had different versions back then as well.

@@Pyrogolas this is why I don't like sport ju jitsu: pointfighting sucks. MMA is better in that you can strike when you grab i.e. ground and pound. I thought JJIF was continuous? Maybe WCJJO is continuos

@@cristobalheiss5349 No, because I am Italian, I live in Italy, but despite this, ju jitsu here is the same of the video. You can be in Germany, in Spain, in Mexico, in Thailand, in Australia, but ju jitsu is always Japanese.

@@emanuelevalenza9334 this is a specific variation that was developed in Germany in the 60's which uses things from Judo, Karate and some traditional jujutsu schools (and today some BJJ). It is just like Brasilian Jujitsu in that matter, or russian Sambo (a local variation of the japanese original with other techniques or emphasis being incorporated). The styles variate heavily between different schools and styles in Japan

@@cristobalheiss5349 It also looks identical to Sport Ju Jutsu that is common in Norway and Sweden. Yes, it is mostly Karate, Judo and Traditional Jujitsu.

T'es complètement con, c'est une autre discipline, je suis pratiquant de jjb et judo, et également fighting, j'aimerai bien t'y voir dans tout ça voir ce que tu y ferais, chaque sport possède ses règles, c'est différent c'est tout, y'a aucune note de boxe dans cette pratique, donc vient pas parler de ce que tu connais absolument pas c'est ridicule

How can you win ?

You can win by points or by full ippon. Ju-Jitsu Fighting System is devided to 3 parts. Part I: striking Part II: throwing and takedowning and Part III: ne-waza. To win the fight before time is up. You have to score an ippon in each single part
