I’ve heard people talk about how neat it is that he can pretend to be so kind when he’s really a psychopath, but the thing I love about this song - and just his character - is that it shows trains can be both. We want so badly to categorize trains as good and bad, but he can love to crash trains AND be a caring caboose at the same time. Just not about the trains he crashes 😂

I haven't really told a soul yet but this version of Total Eclipse of the Heart (and of course the German version too) is my guilty pleasure. I'd go see this musical if I've got the opportunity, man

Wow I did not know all this was going on. I remember liking 2 songs by meatloaf from the radio. Then when I was a teenager I loved this one movie that had some songs one being " Nowhere Fast" It was not real popular. Today I came across Meat loafs song " I'll Do Anything For Love" I had forgotten about it. I realized it sounded like the songs from that movie. Then low and behold the song from the movie was one of his songs. Blew my mind. Several of his songs sound like that, now I know why. Total Eclipe was my favorite song when it came out in high school and now I know why. I still love it! I wish they would get this Vampire in theater. I love Phantom of the Opera, dont know why I have never heard of this. I'm going to look for more of this Jim S. Music!!

Thought I would hate this b/c Bonnie Tyler's version is so iconic, but I like it a lot! This guy also sounds like I imagine a vampire singing would sound.....whatever that means. :)

Ah, okay, the lyrics make so much more sense divided up between two characters: one a seducing vampire, the other a mortal woman incredibly weary of all the burdens of being a mortal woman.

I love this song so much, but I prefer the German version since that's what I grew up with. Tanz der Vampire was one of my first musicals and is likely the root of my love for vampires XD I'm lucky to have seen Steve perform live twice and he was such an excellent Krolock <3 If you want to see the musical, the REAL Tanz der Vampire, come watch it in Germany or Austria. I've seen it 5 times and would still go watch it anytime.

I've always loved this song but finding out it was written with vampires in mind makes it all the more awesome!

A previous commenter made a great point: This song is so touching out of context, and so ironic in context. That's the beauty of "There's Me"... and why I will always love it.
