So glad this video popped up, i headed over and grabbed 'Good Friday'. Even though I still haven't sewn 'Silent Night' yet. Our garden season is ending and I'll miss it when the snows begin to fly. Still a few more harvests and I hope our frost will hold off a few more weeks and then I'll get the garlic in the ground. That certainly was beautiful soil where you were working!
Molly, how awesome that you'll be able to continue harvesting for a few more weeks! We are literally in the MIDDLE of a major yard transformation (I'll have to share in the next update) but once the new garden beds go in I'll be planting garlic as well. Do you plant hard or softneck variety?
I have 4 kids, all of them homeschooling, and we are missionaries in south africa, is nothing better, and our mission like mothers and wife s. I love your videos!!!
Carolina how wonderful that you and your family are missionaries!! Yes, truly such a great vocation that we have been called for.
Poconos so beautiful all year, but especially so in Autumn. I love these Autumn colors. Had no difficulty finding enough shades of Fall to make a quilt with theis mountain pattern. Thanks for presenting.
Peg, yes, they are beautiful all year. Even in the early spring, when the snow is melting and there are these snow streams everywhere tricking down the rocks...so gorgeous. I look forward to seeing your blocks!
This is beautiful!!! Thank you for your hard work, tips, color play info AND very detailed sewing instructions. 🥰❤️😀
Rachel, I'm so glad you like it!! Your thoughtful comments mean so much <3 I look forward to seeing how your table runner turns out!
Very beautuful pattern - though, I must admit, I think you could sew it way more smarter and without wasting so much fabric
Interesting, Henrik - I actually didn't waste any fabric in making this pattern. In fact, I even showed you how *not* to waste fabric. Where, specifically, did you see fabric being wasted?
@@FaithandFabricI understood “using scraps” love your patterns.
@@jessicamalley6201 Thanks, Jessica, for understanding what I meant! It's great to have projects that use up leftover (or scrap) fabrics. Happy sewing to you!
i love the tree pattern thks for the free tree pattern but i cant seem to download?? help
Hi Linda! Thanks for reaching out. Here's the link to the free pattern in the shop: faithandfabricdesign.com/product/pattern-christmas-tree-napkins
This was extremely helpful! Thank you!
Thank you, sweetly iced! :) I've popped many a thread using thread that's probably past its expiration date, so this is a handy technique to keep in your pocket. Happy sewing to you!
Question - I am making the medium size should my blocks measure 6-1/2" prior to sewing them all together? I am ready to sew all my blocks together but wondering if I should square them up to 6-1/2 inches
Hi Linda! Great question. Yes, I would highly recommend squaring your quilt blocks to size prior to sewing them into the rows. This will make your final quilt come together that much easier, and will ensure everything lines up.
would love a rosary kit - any color but I was partial to the reds you showed some months ago.📿
@@bobbiwright7614 thanks, Bobbi! I’m torn on whether to do a rosary kit or the Lent/Good Friday in reds and oranges next year.
I'm looking forward to making this in reds/oranges! My 17yo son saw it online and requested it for his high school graduation quilt.
Mrs. Griff, ohmygosh! That's literally like the highest compliment. What a beautiful gift you'll be making for your son!!
thank you. I'm gonna try this as my first sewing project. - just a note on pulling the elastic through - unless you stop me, I'm going to try it with an electrical fishing tape - should be quick and cut the time considerably.
Ooh - I love that idea! Let me know what you think, and how it worked, after you finish. Good luck and reach out with any questions!
Hi I love this pattern. I followed the link and subscribed. Can you please send me the link to for this pattern. I also reached out to you on your yahoo account.
Hi there! Confirming I sent you an email with the attachment and a link to this video :)
@@FaithandFabric Yes Thank you so much 💝
Awesome! I have never heard of this. Thanks!!
Tina, I’m so glad! It’s a great technique (and an easy one at that) to keep in your quilting back pocket :) Welcome to Faith and Fabric!
I would love a rosary quilt kit.
Thanks, Regina! Would you like seeing it in the tones of blues and whites? Or other colors?
@@FaithandFabric blues or pinks. a rosary quilt would make a great baby shower gift.
Worked out wonderfully. Really appreciate the all-encompassing video, from fabric selection to binding!
WOOHOO!!! Paula, Thank you! I'm so glad to hear that the tutorial worked so well for you. I've had a lot of requests for this one, and it means a lot to hear that it's been so helpful!
The bike ride looked awesome! ❤
I was so stinking proud of my son!! It was so much fun to ride with him and remember MY first rides like this. Plus...riding over the Coronado bridge was breathtaking.
Have you been able to compare it to a Bernina? I’m trying to decide between the two…..
I haven't compared the two. Honestly, I have no regrets with this machine. If I had to find one thing, it's the automatic needle threader which seems a bit clunky (my Brother has the best auto needle threader). Good luck with your decision!
Am I the only one coming up short when cutting down to 2-1/2 wide pieces from the long strips? Frustrating as I sew scant 1/4 inch seam but come up short.
Hi Linda! I promise the fabric measurements work. Shoot me an email at: faithandfabric <at> yahoo <dot> com and we'll talk through it. I made my version from the same kit and measurements and didn't end up short on fabric - that said, I'm happy to talk through this with you! Happy sewing!
Love this!!!!
Kisanii, thank you! Welcome to Faith and Fabric!
Love the update Jen. I would love to join the SAL but not this time. Have fun.
You've already made such a beautiful version, Raylee! I love how it turned out.
It is beautiful!!!
Gail, thank you! Are you joining in the sew along?
I loved Designing Women. It ended in 1993, the year my youngest daughter was born
So 30 years ago! WOW 😮😂
Yes! I remember watching it in the early '90s. Such a good show.
Oh wow I was waaay off on guessing 20 years. I can't believe how fast time goes!!
@@SaidWithLoveYes I feel those years too 😂😅
@@Cathy_MidwestHome_Hens😂😂
How do I get the pattern?
Hi Joyce! There's a link directly to the pattern in the Show Notes, along with several other helpful links. To make it even easier, I'll attach it here for you: faithandfabricdesign.com/product/pattern-good-friday-lent-holy-week-golgotha
Thank you
Use up all your scraps because you paid for the entire piece. Don't waste it. I even use fabric that weren't used in the quilt top for pieced backings. I don't care if it doesn't match the front.
Betty, YES!! Use up ALL those scraps...it's so great to not have leftovers because, as you said, you've already purchased those fabrics. Plus, I think these quilt backs are BEAUTIFUL <3
Absolutely beautiful!! 📿🙏
Aww, thank you! I've made two of these - one in the blues (as you saw in the video) and another with mermaids and narwhals for my niece's First Communion <3
Thank you! I love the name of your company!
Aww, thank you! It combines two things that are so special (and important) to me :)
how about big mat rotary cutting surface?
Hi there! It totally varies based on your needs. I have one that is 36" in length, which is a great fit for the cabinet I have it sitting atop. Hope this helps!
Hi. Nice you label seams primary and secondary. ( could have used first sewn seam and second sewn seam). Good teaching strategy. Most are using this and that or this and this; that and that….who knows what they mean? Using more specific vocabulary makes for better teaching….(retired master teacher) thanks!
Hi Miric - thanks for the tips! It really does help to know proper terminology. Congrats on being a master teacher, and I appreciate your teaching on "first sewn seam" and "second sewn seam".
Pattern does not say how to cut the fabrics starts with fabric F. What about A to E? Wasted my money
Hi Jeffrey! The pattern is set up by block, not by fabric :) If you start with block 1, and then sew each of the blocks, you'll end up using all the different fabrics. Let me know if you have any other questions, ok?
I’m so excited to begin the Lent/Good Friday quilt along with you next month, and hope your quilt top comes together as easily as this one did 😅 I’m pulling together the final videos for the QAL, as well as writing the weekly devotions as we explore John 3:16 in greater detail.
Brilliant!! Have been playing around with sewing a 'scrap' quilt for a while, having seen the idea on another video. BUT, your video has helped enormously, and now I feel much more confident and able to produce the effect with more random edges/angles. You explained and demonstrated so well. Thank you.🤗
Aww, Jean, I'm so glad!! This is literally my favorite technique for backs of quilts...a super scrappy strip with the tiny bits and then the rest of the fabrics making a scrappy back. I'd love to see how your quilt back turns out!
I'd love to get that mail box pattern

My iron looks much worse 😥. I am applying white vinegar several times and rubbing with a magic eraser and it seems to be working.
I'm so glad the vinegar and magic eraser are working for you! They're my go-to - especially the magic eraser. That said, my husband chided me for using the magic eraser on painted cabinets as it will eventually rub all the paint off (he's right, as it's gotten thinner in the area I frequently wash with the magic eraser). Good luck with your iron!
Can I please get the free pattern and instructions please

Thank you for this video-- and you were a measure to watch!
Haha, CJ, thanks! A measure - that's a new one for me :) Appreciate you stopping by to watch the video and leave your thoughts!! Happy sewing to you, and good luck with cleaning your rotary mat.
Beautiful experiences! Love the camping and food sharing! I received my kit!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to get started. I do have a question before we start, you may cover this at that time. Can I use my accuquilt to make the QST and if so, what size cube? I have the 8" and 9" cubes.
Christine, I'm so excited that you received the kit! Woohoo! Great question on the Accuquilt - I hadn't even thought about using that for the QST. Are you making the medium size quilt? Or the small one? The medium size blocks finish at 6", so - without being too familiar with what comes in the cubes themselves - I'd guess that the 8" and 9" may not work. That said, I'll try to investigate this a bit more if I have time. ...and yeah for camping, too. Honestly it's so much fun to get out there and just get away for a long weekend.
Thank you! I hadn’t sewn for several years and forgot how to spin a seam.
Christine, same for me! I've honestly had to refer back to my own video after so much time went by :D Haha!
Sew cool
Aww, Denise, thank you ! I think it’s sew cool, too 😂
I've been using another person's project planner and although it works ok, I like the additional features in this one. I didn't realize how many projects I had going until I started filling out the pages in the planner! There is room for 32 quilts and I've got 22 projects started and/or planned for 2024. Many will, of course, spill over into 2025. It does help to have the planner so I can see what I have waiting and be aware of where I need to stop and focus on something else for awhile. I tend to enjoy the quilt along projects and use a lot of my stash that way. Thanks for sharing, God Bless! Laurie
THIS!! Honestly, I have too many projects going on right now. Once the quilt along wraps up in September, I'm going to start tackling the pile (literally, pile) of half done projects and get them done for good. Good luck to us both!
Blades. Amazon. Titanium coated rotary cutter blades. 10 for $11.29. Love them. I never get sick so no tips for this issue!!!
Dang!! That’s an amazing deal! Would you share the link? I can’t seem to find them at that price on Amazon. Excited!
Your kits look amazing! Such thought and a wonderful ‘unboxing’ experience ❤
Anne, thank you so much! As the Queen of Unboxing yourself, that means a lot. So excited, truly, with how each of these kits turned out!
Do the kits come in other colors?
Hi Louise! Right now they’re available in this Easter/Lent tone - but you can select the color of your binding. That said, there are a set number of kits, and corresponding colored binding combinations, that are available. Thanks for the question!
Very pretty. Great tutorial, easy to understand. Thank you.
Joyfulhope, I'm so glad you liked the tutorial *and* the quilt block! It's one of my favorite blocks - though I think the colors in the Noah's Ark block make that one of my favorites, too :)
