Good information. I enjoyed learning more about fishing in NB. I live in Nova Scotia and plan on doing some fly fishing in the Miramichi for salmon next year. Maybe I will go early in the season and try to catch some of the stripe bass on the fly as well.

Good on ya for enjoying angling.A spinning reel is a great all around choice for angling.Easy to use and many options.Quality spinning reels will last a long time if maintained properly,come in a variety of sizes and options.Your target species will determine the size,spool capacity and maximum drag setting.Generally I choose,Shimano,Okuma and penn.Expect to pay from $150 to $300 for high quality reels,which last many years,especially if maintained.As you progress in your fishing experiences you will come to enjoy other types of reels as well depending on conditions and target species.Overhead reels are favoured by salt water fishers who target big,fast and strong fish.These have the line capacity and power to handle these beasts.Good luck fishing and tight lines.

Where abouts are you red back doils brook or?

Would like to know how the knot is made. Set up your camera in the house or garage and focus things down on your hands where you're tying the knot. The video on are end does not show much. Keep posting

Nice info......what kind and size hook would you use?

I know it's good not to give info on honey holes but just a few areas in general......I use panther Martin's in general and are deadly for trout in Ontario but not so much in NB.......ill watch your trout tips with what to use but would appreciate where I can go to catch and release a few.......I'm the guy who responded on Facebook........happy fishing
