At 1:19 and what you said about unfairness, although I see where you are coming from, I disagree. In almost every competition, the first round has different scramble groups anyway, and it's possible that person A who averages 20 seconds and person B who averages 19 seconds are put in different groups. If second round is top 50 or something, and if person A gets an easier scramble group than B, it is possible that person A is 50th and person B is 51st, but when person B tried the scrambles, they are sure that they would have advanced to the second round if they got the scrambles of person A. Is that fair that the clearly slower competitor got into the next round because of different scrambles? Let's apply this to a worldwide scale. Is it fair that the 2x2 world record single is usually impossible on most competition scrambles, because not every scramble is a 4-5 mover? So what do we do? Do all competitions now use the same scrambles? Of course not. I believe that there will always be a small level of unfairness in virtually anything, and in my opinion, I believe that DNFing misscrambles, which are clearly outside of the competitor's control, is much more unfair than any sort of advantage a slightly easier scramble could give the competitor. However, I do believe that duplicate scrambles and illegal scrambles (for example a 3 mover on 2x2) should be DNFed. Also, maybe have a requirement that a scrambler must average sub-X in the event to scramble or maybe attend a minimum of X competitions, just something so we can ensure that puzzles are being scrambled by responsible people to minimize the chance of misscrambles.

I think something we could do is to have 2 scramblers signing for competitors who are in like top 5 on the psych sheet
