Good job young man, just concentrate on keeping it pushing dirt as much as possible, driving around with the blade up wastes fuel and undercarriage!
To protect a hub or benchmark, drive a piece of lath about 3' long into the benchmark then tie a red flag to the top. If the D8 has 2D grade control (Slope assist), zero out the the percent of grade, set the left or right tip of the blade on the benchmark, and set the desired slope. In your case it would be zero. The blade will then adjust up or down to maintain the benchmark height. Drive the dozer slowly so you don't overrun the dozer's hydraulics.
Interesting that small contractors don't use hubs and cut and fill stakes. Eliminates continually checking grade.
Just ran across your channel. Like what I see...so I subscribed. If you are interested in watching a channel that also does large ponds, may I suggest Chris Guins @letsdig18 with 685k subscribers. CAT the King of Dirt is where I live, Peoria, Illinois. I would also suggest you check out Mobile Track Solutions (MTS) that pulls Ashland pans for moving material. Their solution uses a four track type tractor and pan that eliminates the need for haul trucks, an excavator for loading material and the D8 for leveling the piles of material. The MTS system is self loading, transports the material to the fill and ejects the material evenly. The MTS system can also finish grade if equipped with a 3D grading system. Best of Luck...
Thanks for the video - great looking project.
I just found your channel last week. I was wondering what the estimated cubic yards are for this pond. Pictures sometimes doesn't do the job justice. Have you done a video on the cost of the project? I was trying to compare prices between east texas and your part of the country. I'm in the middle of a lake project myself, been doing this stuff since 1991. Good luck with finishing up the pond.
She's racist. And she needs to be trained in putting on clothing that's give us other's protection from gagging. Axs about dumb behaviour. Sad to watch🤡
I suppose, if you’re into this stuff, that dam is pretty freakin’ awesome!( when a guy turns 30, do they get fired? 😂) BTW, these daily uploads are 👍!
@@jeffpierce3436 thanks dude! Posting another video tonight. And we haven’t had a guy turn 30 yet so I guess we’ll find out! lol
That was almost as boring as watching paint dry!
@@johngaither9263 hey thanks for watching though
Do you rent, lease or buy the equipment?
@@godsdozer a little bit of both! The bigger stuff we rent (for now 💸)
MAKE IT ALL FLAT LAND!!!!!
@@singingwithryanbarker8772 for what??
Is this pond on S Point Prairie Rd?
@@consguy85 yes it sure is
Someone needs to plan these jobs better, moving clay more than once is time consuming. Machines sitting around. Very disorganized.
Appreciate your comment and participation. No one can “plan” on 3 employees calling in sick on the same day. Of course machines aren’t going to move when that happens. We appreciate the 3 guys that did show up this day to move dirt and hop from machine to machine to make it happen.
@@KingsExcavationSTL I completely understand being short handed. Warch Letsdig18 he builds big ponds with 1-3 people. I have only built 1 pond with a 20 hp farm tractor and a boxblade. Its your company your profit margin. I will say you build with overkill that's a good thing.
@@j.walker3498 Thanks! We try to make sure they'll never leak (but can never guarantee it obviously)
I have seen a pervious video of you guys using the forestry mulcher to clear out a fence line for a HOA. How do you find customers for those types of job?
Honestly dude social media. We have roughly 100k followers across all platforms and so much comes in from people just watching our stuff. It helps if you can make videos somewhat educational.
I watched BAMABASS build his 5 acre pond and FLAIR build his 2-3 acre pond, and both of those guys would have KILLED for all that beautiful clay!! 😂(and saved a sh*t ton of $)
It sure makes it easier when we find stuff like this! But we knew it was here from our soil tests. We wish they were all like this that’s for sure!
bama could have bought another property for what he spent, Flair well he has more money than brains, I would expect nothing less from the fish killer himself.
cool project. The framerate on the camera makes me want to have a seizure
We’re working on getting some new camera gear! Trying to figure it out as this is new to us.
Great job.
If you guys keep eating hot dogs every day, you may not be building ponds into your 30’s! 😂😂( they do look good, though! 😋) DRONE PLEASE 🙏🤞🤜🤛!
@@jeffpierce3436 drone footage coming! It just unfortunately takes twice as long to edit and download from the drone. We’re trying!
Trying to get an idea of who's who, the guy with the moustache that normally drives the white truck, is he the foreman? And the guy he was talking to in the dark sweatshirt at about 3:36 into the video, who is he? (Appears to be in authority as well). Thanks.
@@davidpritch718 the mustache man is James - the owner, and the guy in the dark hoodie is Ben, he’s a Forman
Just stumbled across your site this morning, watched a couple videos and subscribed so I can learn more about y'all. I'm surprised at how young everyone is (of the ones I've seen so far). Very impressed with your operation.

What size of bucket is on the 350?
5'
Wow, could use that for the garden. 😂
Yes totally!
Have you considered a drone for some aerial views and perspectives? Sure would be appreciated, given the wonderful lack of depth perception with your phone/gopro! 😂( BTW, thanks for mentioning the projected size of the pond 👍)
Thanks for explaining! I could watch you sculpt that pond all day long. Looks like about 2 acres? I’m envious of the folks that own that land! 👍
We think it’s around 4 acres actually!

Wtf 😂 i live 10 minutes from foristell
@@Nickfromthe816 what’s up dude 🤘
Ban vertical video.
Maybe you could mention how many acres the pond will be? I’m curious because it seems like a good sized dam. Thanks( if you guys want some major exposure, you should contact Daniel of Arms Family Homestead in Oklahoma. He’s expanding his pond and can’t get anyone to give him an estimate 🤷♂️)
Yes! The pond will be between 4 and 5 acres. That would be awesome! But that’s quite the drive from us

Dumb dumb here. What’s a core trench? I have watched at least three pond builds and have never heard that term? Maybe you could give a brief explanation in one of the next shorts? 🤷♂️🤞thanks 👍
@@jeffpierce3436 yessir we’ve got one posted that explains the process! We’ll continue to post more as well. Thanks for following along!
Where’s the shoring?
@@Clever_Handle_ it seems that you don’t understand what we’re doing. We can’t have shoring in this trench, as we need to drive equipment through the trench to build it up. It’s also 14’ wide and 4’ deep.
Shoring is NOT ever needed on the dimensions of this style core trench.
The fill clay comes from the on-site excavation?
@@wnoyes1100 yes correct.
What goes IN the trench?
@@wnoyes1100 good clay that we pull from the center of the pond!

I’ve got a JD2025R and catll post hole digger. People bug me because I quote an hourly rate, with 2 to 3 hour minimum, depending on distance. Rocks are one of the issues I had a job and hour away for 8 post holes on a deck addition.
