I have this set, pretty good set, I'd even recommend it over a Bachmann starter set.
Piko DDR era holdover train set. The locomotive is tooled from a 1950's American model made by Athearn down to the Rubber-band drive. The DDR engineers obviously bought a few and decided to copy it, as it is a reliable if not overly fast design. Good for children.

What, no brake van?
Great observation! This starter set focuses on providing a basic setup with a steam locomotive and three freight cars. Unfortunately, it does not include a brake van, which is often seen in more comprehensive sets or needs to be added separately to enhance realism and operational safety in model setups. If you're looking to expand, adding a brake van could be a great next step. Thanks for your comment and happy modeling!

Its a nice train, but I prefer the Taurus from Roco is still the better one to buy
Hi @alexandrabock1986 :) The Taurus locomotive from the Roco company is certainly an excellent choice, on the other hand, this PIKO hobby edition, due to its low price and many realistic details, is an excellent choice for beginners and less demanding modelers ;) I will definitely bring a comparison of these models in the future, thanks for the inspiration :)
is this a good starter set for a newbie?
Hello @Kapcio360 :) This starter set is an excellent choice for a novice, but it is a myTrain edition, which means that it is primarily intended for children and the details of the locomotive and carriages are not so elaborate, other parts such as rails and power supply are the same as in other sets.
