Brittany and Santana: All Too Well: The Short Film (Santana's Version)
I'm a huge Swiftie and when I listened to All Too Well 10 Minute Version for the first time yesterday, one lyric really stuck out to me;
"And there we are again when nobody had to know. You kept me like a secret but I kept you like an oath."
Immediately that one line reminded me of Brittana, and I can always find so much of Brittana's love story in Taylor's lyrics. Then when I watched the short film I got the urge to make a Brittana version (because we all need a queer version right?).
Now obviously anyone who's watched Brittany and Santana's story will know that they're not as toxic as the relationship portrayed in the short film (let's not name names), but like any relationship, it had it's challenges and hard obstacles to overcome. Inevitably the lyrics aren't always going to match up to the original because the lyrics are very personal to Taylor's situation, but I'd say that most people listen to All Too Well reflecting on their own heartbreaks and stories.
So I wanted to show Brittany and Santana's story through the eye of each individual, because both of them got hurt due to different things. In this video I wanted to explore Santana's version, and her struggles with compulsory heterosexuality and accepting herself, coming out and her self-doubt around Brittany's love for her. I don't think Santana ever got over the Artie rejection and she always thought Brittany would choose someone over her, until right at the end when we saw her finally confident in their love. Certain parts of their love story are the same as you'll see if you watch both videos, but different things hurt them, which is why I made a version for each girl.
The difference is of course the happy ending of being together, but I still thought it would be interesting to show all the pain they went through to get there. Taylor's version ends happily too, but she found happiness on her own by moving on, and both endings give hope to anyone feeling heartbroken.
Mainly, I loved how the short film showed the varying chapters, and that's exactly what Brittany and Santana's storyline can be broken down into, so here it is.

I luv Santana as a character and naya as a person bc they portrayed her character as sweet but also salty. I loved her little grin/smile and her cry was just the sweetest and Santana was never made to be the mean character, she was ment to be the one who was scared to say how she was feeling and got angry at others to help let it all go. Brittney was so sweet and Santana was just so sweet to Brit and I knew from the get go that they loved each other just by the way she talks to her compared to everyone else. She went through so much irl and in the show. I loved how she was so sassy and always stood up for her bff/gf. I completely sobbed when she told her grandmother that she was lesbian and the other one I completely was like yes u go girl was when she said ‘no this is assault’ and pushed sue in the quarterback episode. Santana was and will always be my fav character and person in the world! I miss her so much and the story of how she died suddenly becomes less important when I’m thinking about the fact that she did die at 33 with a 4 year old son who she saved sacrificing herself. I find it so sweet that everyone instantly accepted her being lesbian in glee club bc they care about her even after her being ‘rude’ but yh I miss her with all my heart and will always miss her. Rest in peace naya Rivera. Rest in peace Santana Lopez. I hope you’re looking down on everyone that loved you with Cory monteith and mark salling. You were an amazing actor.
