CS7ALG 🇵🇹 Homemade 2 Element YAGI Antenna 6-20m Band - Design & Construction
The video features the design and construction of my 2 element YAGI Antenna, also called “ Maria Maluca “ or “ Crazy Mary “ Antenna. This YAGI covers all bands from 6 to 20m, but works surprisingly good also on 40m. Took me about a month to build this one, hope you like the video. Best 73 CS7ALG Jorge PORTUGAL

I have one forsale if anyone is interested its brand new boxed
Sparing no expense to do a proper job. Giving enough detail to allow others to make or modify for their needs. Thank you!
I love your mount. I have been in the works planning how to install an R9 i got second hand years ago. I would like to recreate a tilt mount like yours. What size pipe did you use? Wall thickness? Do you have any videos of the making of the mount?
Very nice job you did, 73 de OO4M
no entendi nada!!
Wauh that is fantastic! I am a new OM. I search for a solution for my garden. How is the antenna? How is your experience? vy73 DO1DPL
Nicely done! How is it holding up today? How do you like the performance? I am building one but we have snow and ice so I will add extra support structure for the added weight of ice.
It’s going well and keep doing a good job. I’am very happy with it 👍
What does this have to do with the r9? Nothing.
@redneck, could You please at least, share the year of the Whiskey bottle ? Thanks 👌
Thank you for sharing. Cheers and 73!
Hello, very interesting video . What is the length of the satellite cable to the balun?
Hi. There’s no specific lenght. It’s the necessary lenght, so that the antenna can freely turn to either sides. Regards CS7ALG
@@cs7alg_Ham_Radio Many thanks for your prompt response. i am planning to test this antenna very soon. 73s
This is a really interesting and powerful device 👍
It's really windy
Good job man 👍
very nice
Thanks for sharing great info
I have a brand new one still in the box ready go up

Yes, of course, the soldering is not bad. But a 3KV capacitor is too small for 1.5 kW, a 10KV capacitor is needed. The total length of the antenna strip is 60 meters?
Yes Indeed. After a while the 3kv burned and I’ve placed there a 10kv capacitor. It’s now there for a long time 👍 The total length is 40,20m long. Works from 6 to 80m para can work also 160m, with the help of the antenna tuner.
That was a lot of hard work. Very nice job my friend!
Thanks 🙏 Yes indeed. This one gave me a lot of work and time spent, but it is working flawlessly 👌 Regards and 73’
Hello Jorge, you bought all the good Components a solid built a Endfed Antenna needs. I run 49:1 and 9:1 UNUN on my Endfed Atennas, never had a 64:1 before. You did a great job on your home brew antenna. Hope to talk to you soon on the Bands. 73's de Your Friend Uncle Guenter
Thanks 🙏 Hope to catch you soon on the air. 73’
thanks for the video, another antenna I can't have in my garden :-(
Nice to talk to to you tonight on 14,156 Jorge, drop in again. 73's JD.
Thanks ! If you listen to me just drop in 👍 Regards & 73’ J
very good high quality setup, Realy is it enought 3 KV. Capacitor for 1.5 KW. ?
Hello. Thanks :) In fact no, I had to substitute it later for a 100pf 6kv capacitor, since the 3kv burned. Now it is working flawlessly. 73’ Jorge
@@cs7alg_Ham_Radio Thanks for answer i made 2 x ft240-43 and 9 kv 110 pf but never test kw. How much waat can i work this balun?
Wow! Vary nice luxury shack!!!!
Nicely done! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼
I like the tilt mount,, Where did you get it. Great Job,, !
Hi. I made it my self, and had it electrically galvanized and powder coated painted after, for corrosion prevention. It should last decades now 👍
Can u share total length of wire used in antenna
On the last and final setup, without coil for 80m, wire 40.40m long. Before, with the coil, 20.40m
I’ll be honest. If the antenna gets hit by lightning, it will travel down your ground rod like it’s supposed too. But since you have the ground rod thru your cement base, it will also crack your base severely. I’ve seen it happen. Always put a ground rod outside of the cement base, .
nice jorge im 9k2bs
Thanks Saud !
talked with you tonight on 40, nice shack you are building. Scott
Hi. Already completed since this summer
@@cs7alg_Ham_Radio great pics of your set up on qrz
@@kc1jvd105 thanks ! Took me 2 years to complete everything, but now It’s very Nice 👍
Good job Jorge!
Thanks dear Friend ! Best wishes from Portugal ! CS7ALG Jorge
A R9 não tem radiais?
Boas.
You are right that antenna need strong guying for this force of the wind. But i can not see how is function your system for lowering antenna with winch.Do You lowering aside by bending antenna in base .Can You send me some picture of base. I have planned to get up antenna by hand from horizontal to vertical position with help of one friend.Mail:damir.eterovic1@gmail.com. 73 Damir.
Hello Damir, like I’ve told You , the antenna must be very well guided, otherwise it will go if she gets a storm like this one. The construction of the base mast is on this vídeo here on the Chanel, follow this link : th-cam.com/video/nn4E6pgC5P0/w-d-xo.html In case of any doubt just ask ;) Regards Jorge
@@cs7alg_Ham_Radio Ok George .I understand now how to use winch. I have ordered the tubing for tilt mechanism antenna already .It is not soo complicated design. Tnx for all infos. 73 by 9A5BDE op. Damir
@@damireterovic8062 it’s easy and works very well. Make sure you use tubbing with minimum 3mm internal wall, otherwise they will twist with the weight of the antena when you lower it to the ground. Also make a good ground concrete and iron base to hold it secure on the floor. Don’t forget to place a lightning rod deep on the ground and conected to the base of the antena mast, for protection around thunder storms. Regards and good luck with the construction 👍
I too have a Cushcraft R9. Ever since I had a storm, (I lowered it via a tilt-mast system,) I have been having SWR issues.
I always have the same swr on this antena, about 1.3swr on all bands, with about 1kw output, but I have placed 3M PowerTape on every place it has connections plus big zip ties surrounding all the tunning postes. Always seemed to me since the beginning that the connections were fragile for a antenna of this size. Also I have 9 ropes securing the antenna and not only 3 at the top. Already has survived two big storms with winds over 100km/h, without issues, although It’s scary to see how it bends .
muito agradável Jorge
