I just did this job. The sensor is tough to get out, the connector is impossible. I have a 4.7 and there is no way to get to the connector. Dropped the exhaust to give me some room and even then it was very hard. I have been working in garages for years so I am not a beginner. Good luck, this is a mess
Very common problem. Transgo makes a thicker plate. No buddy, your right, your not suppose to see those return springs or pistons. Sometimes after being in a shop, they don't torque the screws to the right torque, and the plate rips the screws back out.
interesting problem, my 4th gear is intermittent, wonder if its a similar thing

In short yes. It's been some time but it ran rough at idle, nearly stalling after coming to a stop. RPM fluctuations when off throttle. Obviously I am not a mechanic, just another dude trying to save $$ on my kids car. Verify anything you are uncertain of. Btw the mileage was still terrible before and after the O2 sensor was changed. 11-12 mpg. Good luck
hey wait a.minute the most difficult part is to unplug and plug the cables sensor back
Just changed mine today without doing all of that I was actually able to get it with the smaller o2 sensor socket and ratchet and I didn't have to remove the inner wheel well or the tire
did you do it through the open hood or from beneath the car? Any tips for me? (i'm about to replace mine)
@@sirjew1397 I have my fender liner out and that thing is stuck. I'm going to get some map gas to try to heat it, before I remove the Y pipe. Ugh

how did you remove the electric connector? that is the hardest part in my truck. The connector is hidden
Follow the wires back to the harness. They are tucked up and bundled to an electrical loom. You may need to cut some zip ties to get it separated from the others.
Did this fix your transmission priblems? I had the same problem with my Dakota, but now it won't shift into 4th. Any thoughts?
Short answer yes. It was all good for about 3000 miles. Then I started having harsh downshifts from 3 to 2 or 2 to 1 under 20mph to about 10. I think came up with valve body solenoid codes. I should have done a complete flush after changing the valve body because I found very dark burnt fluid with some hardened deposits that likely caused the solenoid to go bad. Put in my original solenoid from the bad valve body. Codes cleared themselves on the way to the tranny flush but I had them flush anyway. It's been running 90% since then about 1500 miles now. Shop said I may have a bad pressure sensor that causes a downshift on hard acceleration but letting up on the throttle corrects that. Otherwise it's just like new. If you've lost 4th...3rd is on the way out. There's just not enough bolts holding that restrictor plate. Good luck.

Yes. Valve body replacement worked. Picked up a used one on Ebay for $140. Change your filters while you have it out and do a complete flush. I ended up replacing valve body solenoid because of the dirty fluid. Put 3000 miles since I initially dropped the pan. Good luck

Kurt Kenehan: I bought from O'Reilly Auto parts. Must specify CA model. I believe it's an NTK 23533 but check against the parts listing and bring your old one in to compare connectors.
