Public Engagement x Computer Science Symposium. Workshop 1B: Creating Engaging Events
Public Engagement x Computer Science Symposium. 16th Dec 2024.
In this workshop we heard from Jessie Pearce from the Alan Turning Institute and Dr Wendy Yanez from university of Birmingham about how to create engaging events.
It is wrong to assume people with no event planning experience will know how to host a perfect public engagement event, and often there are hidden obstacles along the way. With decades of experience between them, Jessie and Wendy share their tips, tricks and advice on how to plan events and show some past case studies.

Vicky your experimental approaches to making your art is fascinating as is the research you do, in terms of origin of words and potential traditional cures and your response to this and the objects that are made. It's like a time travel journey drenched in intriguing histories. It's also helpful to hear someone talking about lived experiences and the power of vulnerability when unpacking this creatively and formally. This allows others watching or experiencing this to also feel less isolated and empowered. Thank you.
