I looked to the left, and beyond the garbage of the Midway I could see the ditch where threw away money, not so wide now but a still unclean,
still flowing under the bridge between Akihabara and Hachiouji. The trestle upstream is gone now, but the ditch is still around. So am I.

左を見ると、Midwayのゴミの向こうに金を捨てたドブが見える。今はあの頃ほど広くはないが、まだ汚い。
秋葉原から八王子に架かる橋の下のドブには、まだヘドロが流れている。上流の高架は今はもう無くなってしまったが、ドブはまだ流れている。
そして、私もまた、そうだ。
