depends on who does the job in my oponion. In my eyes they are of the easier cars to work on along e39 and e46.

you replace the starter by removing the intake manifold, sad i know, but thats how it is.

I was able to buy an alternator for my e30 this summer from O’Rielys , so I think older models would have okay part availability. Wasn’t cheap (around $80) but did have a good warranty. Maybe the e35’s are scarce in parts idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I really want to get an E30. The parts I have tried to buy at local chain auto parts stores had to be special ordered from the manufacturer and would be shipped just like buying a part online.

i’ve only ever owned german cars and all of these things are things i’m used to. seeing this video from someone who owns american trucks is a really interesting perspective. when you said you’ve gotten parts for the trucks same day at auto zone was so crazy to me because i’ve never been able to do that except batteries

I did use the clear all codes button on my code reader. I recently purchased a code reader specifically for BMWs (it has the adapter to connect under the hood) and it provides better information and didn’t cost that much!

BMW e36 manuals lose the clutch, the gear assemblies, and even the trans frequently. Nobody wants an e36 automatic and that’s exactly why it’s the only one you should buy. They are in better condition and the e36 M3 comes with a damn near bulletproof ZF trans, not the cheap GM trans. Remember, the manual trans was the base cheapo, the auto trans was a 2 grand upgrade for a reason.
